  1. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!! Congrats Can't wait for the listening report
  2. Been quiet here. Best of luck to all on the mend. Headed out to Cigarbum's place for the southern ga get together. Lots of smokes- booze - gear - and tunes. Everybody have a great weekend.
  3. I have 2 modded K horns -2" trackhorns- universals- crites- ect for HT fronts. After the mods am seriously considering modding my center channel Lascala with similar gear to keep up with the horns. Each speaker is getting 250WPC from my carver outboard.I am in the camp that the center is the most important speaker component in the HT setup.I am sue that different room dynamics such as distances between speakers change things. My room is only 13 feet wide - fronts and center across the front wall.I am on my 4th center since joining the forum in dec 2008. My take is that the closer the fronts are together-the larger the center needs to be in comparison with the fronts. Just my 2 cts worth. Best of luck with your setup- Sounds great.
  4. The beer supply is endless- trust me on this one.
  5. Wow- that is a showstopper- Could the speakers/system be the difference-maybe the mids sound better with this source on Gary's K horns? Different tastes on vinyl for sure. A friend thinks my Orbison's greatest hits(which I love) sounds just okay. On the other hand I think his Doors- electra records- sounds awful. Go figure
  6. I would also looking at examining the prospect of modding-upgrading the innards of these while your at it. Crossovers- drivers- ect. I am not the expert on the subject but there are many on this forum. Some of the older CWs had weak links in terms of internal components. I am going through mine at some time in the near future. Harry O is up to speed in this area - you might check with him
  7. Very Nice- I may do the same thing assuming we have a boat windshield repair place nearby.
  8. I have heard a set of not the most recent RF-7s. IMHO they sounded as good or better than any of the reference speakers. IMHO ther are at their best in a shared HT/2ch situation. The ones I heard were through a Denon HT receiver in the CD or 2 ch mode which is not a fair comparison. But stil not bad. I have heard K horns- lascalas- cornwalls-hereseys in Heritage. Personally I cant see any reason- going to RF 7s over Heritage for 2 ch IMHO . If I were looking for 2 ch quality I would be looking at tubes and modded K horns-Cornwalls -or Lascallas which are easily driven with anything in terms of an amp. I started out with some older mac stuff and traded my way into some better tubes while enjoying the speakers all along. The larger Heritage speakers are the overwhelming choice for 2 ch on this forum. I would be looking at-uprgading or modding within the Heritage line-upgrading amps or preamps preferably tubes-upgrading cd or TT/cart. To each his own but I would do some serious listening and comparing before switching from Heritage to Rf7s for 2 channel applications. Just my 2 cts worth. In any case best of luck on your choices. I too am waiting on backordered gear- Zu Audio mods for Denon cartridges are out until this fall- Waiting does indeed suck
  9. Juicy music no longer made- Bummer- Get them while you can- used here or on AG- If the economy comes back I see these(and VRDs) as stupid money modern classics. I have run mine with 2 sets of tube mono blocs and several SS mac amps. The peach is a solid performer with anything. Shame that they are no longer made. They are pretty much the reference standard here on the forum. Check the profiles of the tube junkies.
  10. Duct tape is no match.........except for the expensive hi temp stuff[]
  11. THANK YOU GENTLEMEN- IF I AM EVER IN YOUR AREA- OR YOU ARE NEAR CHARLOTTE- I OWE YOU A BEER
  12. I just wish I had seen the dam thing. I am amazed by the number of MAC audio stuff I see in the movies. They must be getting a kickback. Like all of these funky watches- you never see a rolex any more except for maybe a prez on the wrist of some gangster.
  13. That set was in the 70s and I have been looking at the same deal. I saw it for 55 on e-bay 2 weeks ago. Agonizing over buying it or waiting for something better. Just dont know what all was pressed. As soon as I buy it a 1/2 speed example will pop up for sale. I listened to a 1/2 speed master Abbey Road the other day and it was killer. they had a copy at the record store for 30 bucks and I missed it by a day.
  14. 4tay- you are so right- like lifting a blanket from the speakers. If you are not listening to cleaned records- you are not hearing the sound that you bought. Dennie- I serious doubt the hose deal after seeing pics of your collection. I use my wood glue when the wife talks too much[8o|] This process is very labor intensive but pretty much idiot proof if you follow instructions.
  15. wilburys- orbison- clapton cream-tom petty- any blues modern or old- stones- yardbirds-lots of obscure 70s rock-anything that sounds good- maybe some modern jazz or classical.- Sheffield- Mofi- rookie stilll learning about vinyl. using a yamaha PX-2 with a Grado RS cart at present- have a thorens 125- SME 2000 type 2 unmodded tonearm-Denon103R - not set up- waiting for ZU mods- parts not availabgle until fall??or when hell freezes- will cost 250-300 for profesional setup so I am waiting for the modded 103R
  16. I have been cleaning my 200 or so vinyl records. VPI 16-discdoctor fluid and brushes. sleeve city carbon fiber dry brush. Lots of rock albums fron the 70s-80s. condition from ok to excellent. I whole hearttedly endorse rthese products. 85% improvement in some cases for the excellent cond stuff. 30 % for the OK cond examples. I think that 2 cleanings may be necessary. 60-70% of the viinyl pressing pop click junk is gone with the first application. The ones that I have cleaned twice lost amybe another 10-20 % of the pops and clicks between tracks. I followed the discdoctor instructions to the letter. Several people asked me to report back after using. This equipment combo worked verry well. Make no mistake - This is a labor intensive PITA but you only have to do it once or twice. I highly reccomend a nice rubber covered dishrack for air drying. I bought a cheap POS and it had to be replaced. The discdoctor replacement stick on brush covers are the way to go.Ditto on the stylis cleaner brush and fluid.
  17. I am in search of the best quality Traveling Wilbury vinyl that I can locate. There is newly released 3 recordsets available for around 55 dollars on e-bay and amazon. Were there any high end half speed /mofi or other premium pressings? Should I just buy the re- release stuff and be happy or is there something better around? as always- thanks in advance
  18. I see 200 gram and 180 gram vinyl- what is the difference? is the 200 gram the old stuff?? which is typically better?
  19. For any 2 ch tube application the Peach is a no brainer. The peach 2 has a remote
  20. A pair of large Heritage for 2 chanel listening- K horn-Lascala -Belle- or CW makes the perfect pair of front speakers for HT and a great starting point for a killer Ht system-(Thanks Audible Nectar for suggesting this to me early on). my recently modded K horns- 2" wood horns- Universal crossovers-crites tweeters- are even better- However now - I need to change out my Lascala center to 2" horns with similar stuff. I have had both Heritage 5.1 and 7.1- The 7.1 gets my vote for my room and DVD choices. I have been through 5 different HT receivers and a ton of klipsch speakers- too many to remember. The HT equipment started out as a silly gimmick by todays standards and has evolved into a wonderful entertaining media that is worth the investment and the trouble- particulary using older / refirbushed/ upgraded heritage speakers. My worst complaint is and has been the horrible 'CD" mode for 2 channel listening. You have to have separate HT/2 ch power systems. I denied this for years and finally gave in and established 2 systems The only thing that I share is front speakers.
  21. I am off Friday so I will drive down mid morning Alergies???? just found out that I am alergic to cigars- alcohol- and loud noises. Is this a problem??[]
  22. How do you think she got that big- your heart is not the first that she broke- count on it
  23. have you ever heard 7 Heritage speakers and a RSW 15 sub cranked th the max in a shootout during an action movie???????? Heritage HT is the s--t. The more speakers the better bring on 9.1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want broken windows and cracked plaster and damaged eardrums.
  24. Dr Hart worked on my father. I think she will be in good hands. I think he is either 7 or 10 years into his transplant. Doing well. Thoughts and paryers. if it works gimme a shout when you are in Charlotte. Back to the NRA convention today. I will need some more nuts and bolts installed in my ankle when this is over. I hope I do not see anything that I HAVE to have. Still recovering from recent audio spending poverty. Maybe sip down a small vodka and OJ before the ride.
  25. Yeah that is a good way of putting it Free admission. Est 80k attendance- largest convention in Char history-20,000,000 into the local economy which is desparately needed.Imagine any hobby with 99.999% of the gear made worldwide under one roof for 3 days.I am going back today to try to see what I missed yesterday.
