  1. Just for the record- months ago- when I first began to surf this forum - before I had anything except for a mismatch of old reference stuff from the early 2000s I would look and lust after the appearance of your system. It looked like some kind of custom made setup designed by some interior sound guy that cost tens of thousands of dollars. It was and still is is one of the coolest setups that I have seen even with price as no object. It is a model for the way I want my stuff to look if I ever finish it. Nicely done!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Hey- THANKS!!!!! I wanted the mid Atlantic but the local guy wanted a fortune for them. Any tips on where to buy? I need 2 of them
  3. I am intriged by the Viva which could- as it appears -be used initally as a stand alone unit without a preamp leaving my Mac stuff alone for when it's time to crank it up. Certainly the Viva could lend itself to other uses in Bi amp applications as my taste- expertise- and wallet(hopefully) changes. I typically listen to my Mac SS 2105-105WPC at 10:00 on the L/R gain with the preamp set at 11:00 all of the time in a 14 x 25 room. The meters on the amp barely move if at all.So- at wattage point- in general terms - will I see a deficit from what i would be accoustomed to in terms of volume with my solid state stuff. in other words - should i set my sights at a minimum of say 6 WPC or 15 WPC or 30WPC?? I am looking for a general opinion here not a scientific conclusion. I listened to a new set of K horns with a MAC 220/MAC 275 on a rega TT with some high cartridge and it had the Spooky character you speak of - in my mind- however- I am blown away by the SS MAC combo with a cd thru my K horns- so my expectations may not be up to par with you guys who have listened to 500 different high end combos. I am trying to keep the cost somewhat reasonable until I can see how far I want to go with this . I would assume from the posts that the peach preamp would be the minimun acceptable level of tube preamp fore this type of setup. This is great feedback and I appreciate it.
  4. I am thinking about easing into a tube 2 ch setup to run my yamaha table into my k horns. I have heard many tube setups but my knowledge on this subject is very limited. The amp that I really want is a Mac 275 but i am not prepared to drop 3 or 4 grand at this point in the economy. I am seeing some really nice lower powered pairs in the 1500.00 range here and elsewhere. I am presently running a Mac c34V preamp- very minty example- no floor noise to speak of- very little usage. My present power amp is a very nice minty Mac 2105 with no issues and very low noise. How is this C34V going to pair up with a lower powered tube amp? Am i defeating the purpose by using the SS pre amp with a tube power amp? I am looking to spend 1000-1800 dollars on a tube amp if I decide to persue this course of action. Thanks in advance.
  5. No doubt that these small companies are very exciting and at the forefront of cutting edge products. With the loyal customer base hopefuly they will be OK. Gilbert- what brand is your component rack? Nice looking setup.
  6. Let's hope that EPIK gets their act together and produces product as offered. The products are great. I will take a close look at them when/if i do my second room.
  7. Did not mean to start a p---- measuring contest about who's sub digs the deepest. That subject has already been beaten to death in another thread in this section. My point was that IMHO the company has issues and may not be around to support the product sometime down the road which is a shame because the sub is great. If the Conquest had klipsch badges and the corporate support I would have 2 of them in my listening room as we speak. I am very happy with the RSW-15 with all points taken into account. I intend to add a second one in the future.
  8. Just tried to macth 2 different 15' subs together- not worth the hassle- save your money and a lot of bother-and buy the exact sub for the second one.
  9. They scared me away. This sub was first or second on my short list. Great sub- maybe the best one in existance for less than thousands. Here's the rub- Subs break down as they age- I got some not so warm and fuzzy vibes trying to e-mail and talk to someone- like a company with no one in charge.I can see me with a broke down sub trying to find parts from a bankrupt company a few years down the road. Not saying that this will happen- but with this economy???? Who knows. I bought a as new -used klipsch rsw15. Depending on which test you read- it is one of the very best subs out there. If it breaks down- 140.00 flat fee repair. They have parts. Mine arrived DOA due to a minor wiring problem. The klipsch tech people talked me though taking the monster apart and fixing it on the spot by telephone. Try that with another brand. The conquest MAY be a whisker better than the RSW 15- I will conceed that. But for my money- give me the RSW-15- if you can find somebody who is willing to part with one.- that is the hard part.
  10. Dude- if youe wife agreed to this and picked out the color -the choice is already made. You are very lucky. Me -I sneaked mine in during daytime hours while she was at work.Talk about dirty looks!!! I am sleeping inside the bass cavity of one of my k horks using an empty amp box for a pillow - having nightmares about frying pans. This sub was on my short list when the RSW15 became available. I have heard nothing but rave reviews on this product and I am sure that you will LOVE it. I can't wait to see it. Congrats on a great purchase.
  11. +1 on the portwood--- 21 year old I believe-- I think the stuff is near or north of a c note franklin in these parts. it is wonderful stuff with a nice slow burning Cohiba robusto(cuban). I can get it but it is a drive to another state- SC. As a sub the 15 year old- "The "Balvinnie" aint half bad. the whole product lin is rock star s--- for the money- in my book. The next time you have time to beat around on the net check out "the whiskey exchange" in London. A candy store of rare scotch. they used to ship to the states- they may still do so. If you ever see this one grab it- it is a bit on the light side-which I normally dont like but this scotch is unreal- it comes off as light but the long finish and delayed heat is unbelievable. In spite of the light character I give this one a solid 9.8. One of the top 3 ever. nectar of the gods. The un-chillfiltered collection- CAOL ILA dist. 1990 -numbered casks and bottles. aged 12 years- Unreal- rare but not exensive- considering- about 90.00 the last time I found it.The stuff is so good that you can serve it to a room full of people and everybody will drink it- efven the women and non- scotch drinkers- not that you would want to waste it. i get a kick out of "paring" scotch with cigars. For example I will pair a full house smoke like a Cohiba maduro dark wrapper(which is not really a maduro- only a very dark wrapper) with a 16 year old Lagavulin or a Laphroaig. On the other hand I will pair a Bolivar Gold medal with the caol ila.- lots of smoking -drinking pleasure If you are dinking the Portwood- you obviously know your stuff- cheers my friend!!
  12. details please- which speakers- how many-what sub- HT or 2 ch?????
  13. Black is the safe bet- Wood tones NEVER look like the website pics or ads/ That is one beautiful sub.
  14. Personally- I like the 10d regardless of the 28 hz- i think it had a nice sound- almost bought one myself. the option 4 looks like a good deal. if money is an issue - option 1 or 4. I like all of your choices- looks like you did your homework.
  15. I sure am glad that I do not have that problem. It must be very tough to deal with. Not to mention all of the time and gas to go get the stuff. Hello Roger
  16. HAHAHAHAHAHA - Looks like we got us another one fellas!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the forum- step up to the crack pipe and have yourself a puff. lesson # 1- Klipsch is the best- most bang for the buck at the lower/middle end- best audiophile grade stuff at the high end- period lesson # 2 you dont need a huge room to enjoy great HT or 2 ch sound- your 11 x 11 room is fine with the right gear adjusted properly lesson # 3 all of your speakers except fot the sub MUST be klipsch- it is OK to go outside the brand with the sub if desired lesson # 4 check the garage for the deals. People here are honest and accountable.I have spent a fortune there during the last month and I can't tell you how much that I have saved over normal outlets. lesson # 5- DO NOT get in a hurry. Set a reasonable low end price for what you want and look for deals. In this game patience is the key to ending up with a system that you will love. You will find exactly what you are looking for if you check the garage forum and the internet close outs. also put Vanns into your database- another good source or open box stuff and closeouts.DO NOT pay 500.00 for an RC62. There are better deals if you can wait. HT receiver prices drop like crazy when the new models come out- like in half. Dont buy new/current.Discontinued/ open box with a warranty is the key. Take the non klipsch stuff back for a refund and wait for the good stuff. Good luch with your search. This hobby is just SLIGHTLY habit forming.
  17. Did not like the Gurkha- something is missing- No Scotch collection is complete without at least one variety of Glenlivet- Might I suggest the following- 10 year old Springbank-(value)Balvinee Doublewood-(value)16 year Lagavulin-the gold stand of scotch under 100.00- 10 yr Laphroaig for something different- also any of the Coaila. +1 on the newcastle brown ale- possibly the best beer on the planet- always some in my fridge Today- an ice cold Ichiban beer with some killer sashimi- it was great. Tonite- maybe some knob Creek and coke- sorry about that to all the burbon purists.Definitely brown liquior weather- ice-sleet- and snow predicted and that sucks.
  18. Capt - you are one sick puppy- Now I feel better about hiding my extra stuff in my kids closet. I have 3 extra amps in the bottom of his clothing hutch. I had to move my circular fishing rod rack into his room to make room for the lascallas. NOW... If I could just talk the little lady into letting me move the gunsafe into her sewing room...... of course the door frame would have to come off...... maybe not a good idea.. Plan B. I can quit anytime. I can quit anytime. I can quit anytime. this is just a hobby I can quit anytime. Really - I can.
  19. For the rest of you this arrived at my place via UPS- DOA. I had a deal worked out to bring it down in the cab of a truck from one of my vendors near the seller but the deal fell through and I had to UPS it. Knowing the honesty of the people on this forum I had no doubt that the unit worked when it left the seller. I got on the phone with Klipsch tech assistance and they talked me through tearing this monster apart and fixing it myself. There was a black wire spade- male/ female connection that had come loose. This was a major PIA but all ended well. I hate UPS as much as the next guy- I use them at work and utterly despise them-but in this case I don't think they were the culprit. This connection was a tight fit and it took a massive effort to force the thing back in place. No way it got jarred loose in transit. Some jerk - drunk of druggie on the assembly line- had not properly secured it to the male connector. It took some effort to get it pushed on and it was more that he or she wanted to be bothered with. I knew had it had to be something like this. it would have eventually worked loose in use. I would never use UPS on something this large unless I was out of options as in this case. Also the lesson here is not to fly off the handle when you have a problem and start blaming people before you know what is up.I would have looked like a complete @ss had I blamed the seller for shipping a non working unit before checking it COMPLETELY first. If you ever have a sub failure- open it up if possible and look around- If the amp leads are connected in a sorry manner- they will come loose. Thanks for sharing the Pair- much enjoyed.
  20. This has to be a scam- You may end up kidnapped to star in a south American porn movie with a donkey and a chicken. I would have someone go with me and be packing heat when I went to meet this guy. I have sold some thing on CL lately. You would not believe some of the people cruising this site. If something sounds too good to be true - It usually is.
  21. Just got the RSW 15 up and running. What a BEAST!!!!!!!!! Nice match for the Heritage stuff in HT mode. Of course the RSW 15 is lonely for another one- More trouble- Picking up my lascallas/center as soon as this s----y weather blows out of here. This puts me at the 9700 dollar mark less what ever I get for the RC64-sale pending and the extra Lascalla. THE MADNES CONTINUES- help!
  22. Got the RSW-15 up and running. WOW- What a Beast. I love the way this thing kind of hangs out in the background at normal volume levels and then knocks you out of your chair when a sub note hits. If you are lurking- waiting for one to come available- keep waiting- you will not regret it. WHY IN THE H- - - DID THEY STOP MAKING THIS UNIT OR ONE LIKE IT?????????? Go figure. She is a monster.
  23. LMAO-Hot air..... here???????????????????????????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHH
  24. great speaker--- WAYYYYY overpriced. offer 400 if you have an interest and work from there- 400 would be a fiar offer 600 max if near new with boxes ect Cl is not always a deal- saw a set of LS for 2000 firm last week-early 80s- would not budge- he will have them for a while
  25. burying intruders???? I like that idea- cheaper than hiring a lawyer.
