  1. I have been through a weekend of pure of pure hell trying to pull off a DIY wall mount installation on my 50" panasonic plasma TV. I made the horrible mistake of buying the Sauns LT 25 tilt mount. The instructions look like something written by an 13 year old crackhead that likes to watch TVs fall on people. The literature contains a bunch of stupid pictures with numerous options and no written explanation whatsoever. You are left to guess where there are multiple choices of possible steps.Hardware leaves much to be desired. The bracket that attaches to the tv is a disaster waiting to happen. Absolutely terrible. There are several long slots and no defined holes in any useable areas. It is very obvious that they made this P O S to fit every TV in the world betweeen 30 and 65 inches rather than going the quality route and making the mount more model/brand specific. When we got the TV up on the wall- one side sudddenly slid down like 4 inches. After a string of words that i can't repeat here and diving for cover we discovered that the 2 screws would not hold the tv in place on the mounting arms of the contraption. I put a hydralic jack on top of my roller cab tool box to stead the TV while we pushed it back into place. After several attempts I was able to fabricate a makeshift tool out of a phillips head drill attachment and a long handled box end wrench( No room to work) to fit the hex bit. After i tightened the screw/bolt as tight as I possibly could the ---- thing finally held- for now. I had tightened the bolt with a large philips head screw driver as per the instructions before lifting it up but it would not hold. One side was fine- one was not. Unless you enjoy cussing, throwing things, and getting killed by falling TVs-dont buy this piece of garbage. You will be sorry that you did. Worst part- my stuff was unhooked all weekend during this "2 hour job" and I could not listen to my macs or my cornwalls.
  2. The pic says it all. Mr bose is a snake oil salesman preying on uninformed victims who don't know any better. The way that they have wormed their way into the auto industry- selling trash here the buyer has no choice is downright dishonest. It is the worst example of trash selling on name recognition that I can think of.
  3. Beautiful speakers- nice - congrats. I am moving my cornalls to surround duty next week. switching to k horns for fronts/2ch. Every time I hear the corns in 2 ch mode I get a little nervous about doing it. Definitely a hard act to follow.
  4. Sounds like you are toast. Just go get the cash- no use trying to fight it.
  5. Financial ruin loves company- why should we stop you?? I am driving to pick mine up this coming weekend. there is a ton of info here concerning false corners. Go for it.
  6. Ya know what?? the sound system on my Porsche is not only a Bose system-- It is the BOSE PREMIUM sound system for like an extra 1200 $$$ with the 11 speaker setup and the subwoofer in the passenger floorboard and ya know what- it sounds like @ss. The only reason I bought it was for resale issues.Bose opened a "factory outlet" near my office and everybody rushed out and bought one of those cute little surround systems with the cute little DVD player and the cute little speakers that fit up in the corners with the spider webs and ya know what?? everybody who bought one HATES IT. THe same old story.. sounded good in the store... sounds like @ss when you get it home. been there done that. This company sucks.. and so does their products,, they have way too much of my money.
  7. It will not work- do not plan on it long term- sell the RC7- good news- lots of buyers- great seaker- Buy a heritage center. Horn mismatch- you will hear it. i know because i am buying lascallas and k horns next weekend and i will be runing an RC64 center until I find a heritage single/ center speaker. Maybe we can split a pair depending on where you are. You can sneak an RC 64 center with Cornwalls and maybe get away with it- i did - Really not bad at all- in spite of comments to the contrary- but an Rc7 with lascallas is out. iI am running a killer set of old RF 3s(for sale) with other wide top of the line reference stuff and going to k horns/lascallas- cornwall surrounds. are you in for a treat??? I would say so. Start looking for a single lascalla.
  8. congrats- nice buy- one of the good ones con
  9. If the preamp is the problem- you can have the C28 back for what I paid. Geat piece of equipment- just dont need 2- dont care if i have to keep it as a backup. You sustem sounded killer rwith the c28 in my book. Can't imagine that the problem is speaker related given what you have. Hope you figure it out- you may need some K horns or jubs. We can go halves on a doghouse.
  10. I have a Carver A733- 3 channel 250 WPC- 7 years old- When I hooked it up my system came alive. What a %^%$ing beast!!!! My buddies say that it looks / sounds like it should be Dracula's amplifier. Used it with vintage RF3s and Cornwalls. Initally I will have it driving my soon to buy K horns. Can't wait. Its a domesticated Phase Linear on steriods X 3. Love it. Some say that they dont like Carver stuff. Frankly I dont get it. I love my Mcintosh stuff, love my B&K, same with my H&K.. Eventually I will go all tubes but that takes nothing away form this SS stuff.. It's all good.
  11. Congrats on your purchase!!!!!! I had the exact same setup until somebody decided to give away a C34V which i had to buy. the 28/2105 is a killer setup with cornwalls. My 28 is for sale on audigon and in the garage as we speak. I will miss it but one has to go. The 2105 is perfectly matched with the Cornwalls. You will have many pleasant evenings of listening with that combo. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Bought a set of 901s back in the day. Never sounded like they did in the store. In fact they sucked. Happy ending- Somebody broke in and ripped them off. Bought a set of Altecs with the insurance money. My tahoe and my porsche both have bose systems. The systems in my cars also suck- especailly for what they cost. The entire brand is a great example of slick marketing where people buy garbage and like it because they don't know any better.
  13. Dont worry about the little lady. Just buy the speakers. She will love them after you get them. Just don't tell her until after you buy them. No problem
  14. You will never regret buying an RC64.One of the very best pieces in the reference line IMHO.
  15. I have played around with a set of Cornwalls as fronts in a reference system running thru a Sony DA4300ES with an RC64 center. . It sounded great but not as good as another cornwall center. I have set of lascallas-rears-k horns- fronts coming in 1 week which I will be using with the RC 64 as a center initially until I find a heritage center single speaker which may be difficult. My thoughts are after listening to lascallas would lead me to not mix any reference center with the horns. I feel that the RC64 is much better for what you are trying to do if you have ruled out another heritage as a center.I am of the opinion that the RC 64 is one of the best centers around and will sound pretty good with anything- But- you will have a horn mismatch. Sony receivers get zero respect on this board. I am in the opposite camp. As long as you stay with the ES Product line. Easy to set up. Great GUI function. Decent preamp section for the money spent. I am using mine as an HT processor for all of the HDMI stuff with the pre outs powering separate amps. If you look hard enough you can find deals out there on recently upgraded ES models- 4300/5300 which makes the decision much easier. I am very happy with my Sony with 650.00 invested. I would be equally happy with a Marantz or a Denon in a comparable model at a deal. You may want to look into setting up a Niles switching setup where you can use your preamp/amp with the Lascallas as a 2 channel setup for music as well as using them in your HT. Lots of us have a separate setup for music.
  16. nice setup EQ- sweet Roger Did you ever cheat or steal to pay for these? or lie about how much you paid? I thought so. At least you admit your problem. 1st step to recovery(listening to BOSE) . This terrible thing is a gateway drug to worse problems- like Krell-Naim-Peach-Rotel and even the worst of all - the dreaded MCINTOSH!!!!! Get professional help at once before you get any worse. You are a sick man.You can't beat this alone. Me - I'm not hooked- I can quit anytime- I am like the guy who has one beer after work- no problem.
  17. Nice TV- Congrats-+1 on the wife deal- I am wearing a Kevlar vest and dodging frying pans.
  18. The Surefire lights are the s%^%. I have several of them starting at 70.00 up to 400.00. The super bright bulbs will blind and partially diasble a bad guy long enough for you to get away. The defender has a jagged stiking bezel on both ends which when used as a braass knuckle device will really ruin your day. This is a great non lethal protective device. My friend is one of the major dealers for surefire. He can not keep them in stock. There is a waiting list for the 175.00 LED model and a longer waiting list for the 400.00 Dominator weapon light They are solid enough to whack a mugger across the head with it and not break the light. The bad news is battery consumption. The lights go through them like crazy. They take the high dollar camera batteries. I like the rechargable models but they start at 100.00 I cant imagine anyone collecting them????
  19. You guys are killing me-another victory- I seaked in a bascially new c34v preamp that I bought for a cheap song this evening. Undetected!! miss winchester is getting used to the loud music at late hours and hopefully has thrown the towell. I use the argument/response that I learned from my brothers in arms on this forum when confronted by a new aqusition-"Next time i will just spend 300.00 at the titty bar like the rest of the male populastion in this town" This seems to work well for now. Of course this only works just so many times when confronted with new 4 figure toys such as speakers. She is only a crack shot when she has the combination to my gun safe- NOT!!!!!!!! Trust me I will have earplugs handy before any Jubilees are cranked up. Kinda like the sirens in some stupid high school mythology lesson that I slept through- i sure as ---- ain't going there. I am done after this..... really.... I am.
  20. This must have been a top of the line unit in its day because it is Q U I E T - S M O O T H - and S W E E T!!!!!!!!! I am loving this Preamp with the 2105 and the cornwalls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe that I stole this one.
  21. So my buddy calls me who knows that I like Mac stuff tells me about this 500.00 mac preamp on a open box list at a local Mac dealer. I have been in the store several times and nobody has said jack to me about it. So I call and they still have it. So I go tearing over there and the thing is like new!!! A customer had several pieces of equipment that were extras- apparently he had a lot of stuff and hardly ever used this one. Now hard up for cash he decided to dump it cheap for a fast sale. Wanted a private sale for cash- no ebay. I called Terry Dewick and he said to buy it ASAP by all means- a killer preamp several clicks above what I had. I love my C28 but this thing is sooooo quiet and smooth. I need to get my hands on a manual and see what all this other stuff does-what is a compandor???- The thing also had a perfect case/ panlock. The guy paid 3400.00 for it at this store a few years back. the only other one I saw on e- bay was priced at 1800,00 and had glass issues. I had seen this online earlier and blew it off because I did not know what it was. Sometimes it pays to take your time and pay attention to these closeout lists. I cant believe this amp was still there at this price. If anyone has any comments about this preamp I am all ears.
  22. Gin was just a joke to make the picture look worse. Would not drink it if you put a gun to my head. Give me a small batch burbon or a single malt anytime.
  23. I thought about trying a 3rd K horn in the center but would require a built in false corner in the center of the room. This would get me shot for sure. Back to another cornwall or a Lascalla. Thanks for all of the input- greatly appreciated. Fish- I had a borrowed set of RF83s for 2 days and had also listened to Rf 63s hooked up to my system. Was going to buy the rf 83s the dayI bought the Cornwalls but the deal fell through. I have a WTB ad for a RSW 15 like yours but they are tough to find. With that considered I would not consider my ref system 2 clicks down or mismatched. Even without the sub it was one of the best that I have ever heard and I could easily be satisfied with it had I not gotten into the Heritage trap.
  24. Just sitting here listening to my Mac/Cornwall setup. Stevie ray/ Jonnie Lang/ Kenney Wayne Sheppard- thinking about past purchases in speakers. At 700-900 for an average set of Cornwalls on the used market --is this not the easiest decision ever???? I can't believe it took me 56 years to figure this one out. There is nothing that will touch these speakers at anything near the cost. When you look at the new stuff out there at this price point it is a joke.
