  1. Nice to hear that you're enjoying 2 channel all over again and that the new equipment has exceeded your expectations. I'm really looking forward to your HT assessment.
  2. Has anyone had any problems with any of the Oppo gear that just stops powering up? I had it happen the other night after not using it for months I was working downstairs and was putting on a CD and absolutely nothing. When I sit there and play with the cord I can get a light every now and then, but it doesn't seem to be a problem with the cord, but unfortunately, I don't have another power cord laying around that will work with the unit. I just wanted to throw this out prior to opening it up and seeing if there's anything obvious. I've never really had a piece of equipment stop working like this did.
  3. Congrats on the new equipment! I'm shocked that you went the new route as I know that you constantly search for steals in the used market, even more than I do so I have to ask this question, knowing what kind of a buyer and researcher you are. Did you go this route because for the money spent you couldn't compete with this unit new? Please keep posting your impressions as I've been on the Emotiva site so many times and so close to hitting the buy button that it isn't funny.
  4. A couple of questions; where do you live, what exactly is wrong with the cabinets, are they just cosmetically trashed or are they coming apart? If this is just cosmetics you would have this done much quicker if you veneered them or even went over them with 1/4" or 1/2" plywood if you're not comfortable with veneering. BTW, I'm the "some guy around here" that used a hydraulic jack and heat gun to remove the back of a cornwall 2 cabinet, so it can be done without ruining it.
  5. Nice work! If all goes well, my main system will be moved to it's permanant location in the next 4-6 weeks and I'll e-mail you a list.
  6. If there's glue involved and using a rubber mallet doesn't do the trick, you can use a heat gun to get the glue to liquefy first. May I ask why you are wanting to remove them?
  7. Congrats Greg! It's been a while since I've been on your site and all I can say is those speakers look fantastic! I can't wait until I get a chance to hear them.
  8. Looks great! Have you played with tilting the center up a bit to get it aimed directly at your listening position? I'm sure if you need any help to do this you would get a lot of volenteers to fly down and help you.[]
  9. Here's the sweet spot on the DLP's http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-WD-82738-82-Inch-DLP-HDTV/dp/B003HPB97I/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1318264327&sr=1-5 The 82" around $2000 or the 73" for about $1500 and if you're a member with amazon you can put a 3 or 4 year warranty on it for next to nothing and the pictrues on these actually look great. I think Mitsubishi finally got their customer service and supplier problems worked out from a few years ago but it's still keeping the price pushed way down. No, you can't hang it on the wall but my gear and speakers need a couple of feet of floor space anyway so that really is of no concern to me.
  10. That really made me laugh..... The question becomes do you spank your monkey when he's bad. It's too early to be laughing this much!
  11. Can't wait to see the pictures and I'm sure the panel saw is going to save you a ton of time on the cutting.
  12. This should be a great build to follow and hopefully an opportunity for me that doesn't understand a lot of the technical aspects to gain a little more knowledge. I want to make sure that I understand the basic objective for the build and Roy's initial objective when the Patent was done; is this strictly to obtain a better low frequency response in a horn loaded bass bin? After reading through the patent information, that's the main thing that I took away from it so I thought I would ask. While I'm at it I'll ask another question; is the reason that this hasn't been pursued by Klipsch or others that I'm aware of because of the market or that it's easier to add a sub to handle those specific frequencies? Regardless to the answers, I'm really looking forward to this build and wish I had half of those tools in my shop.[]
  13. If our version of dancing with the stars was like that, I might just tune in to see what it's all about.
  14. Welcome to the forum. I'm sure that others will chime in that can give a better opinion and own 64's but IMO the number sounds right, but why don't you just take your current center to the store and A/B it with the 64 and the most similar towers they have hooked up? If you can do that then you will get the only opinion you need. I have no doubt that the 64 will sound better because I have owned a few different Klipsch centers and my rc 62's sound great but they don't sound as good as my rc 7, nor does my rc 7 sound as good as a rf 7 used as a center, but one thing I've learned about Klipsch is really they all sound pretty darn good. So how are things down on the coast? I keep planning on getting down to Beaufort to visit some friends and do some fishing, but it hasn't happened for a few years.
  15. I can't tell you who would work on one but a good friend of mine had one replaced one through Klipsch for around $120 and he shipped them the old one. You should call them first.
  16. Welcome to the forum! Where are you located because it would be great if you could listen to as much of this stuff as possible to help you make a decision. Everyone is going to tell you yes; get more speakers but keep in mind you're asking the question to a bunch of addicts.[] I love my reference collection but then again I love my heritage stuff too. I did own a KLF C7 and thought it was a pretty great sounding center and that was at the same time that I had my RC 7 and an RC 3. I haven't had an opportunity to give the RC 64 a listen to I don't have an opinion on something I haven't heard.
  17. No problem, I know it kills me if I have a piece of equipment that isn't working. Now if we can get some others to chime in.
  18. As some others have said, the landing page needs some more pop and it would be great to see some more RF designs with the copper IMO. I bet if you had a little design contest on the forum you would get some great ideas.
  19. First, welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to hear about the problem you have with your RSW and I'm sure others will chime in that know a lot more than I do. I do own 2 RSW 15's that I purchased used and have never had a problem with either of them. So your sub worked fine and then you went to turn it on and nothing? Is this the newest version with the controls on the top or the older one with the controls on the rear at the amp? I wouldn't think that the amp just blew out when you tried to turn it on and that your problem lies somewhere else with a switch, fuse, internal connection......................... Have you removed the amp yet? At this point it's not like you're going to hurt anything but maybe you can take it out and post some pictures tell us exactly what happened and let's see if we can get you back up and running.
  20. Not being sure exactly what you were refering to; I would have to respond by saying seven.
  21. Long after the fact but something I just happened upon today was that if you look at the specs on a KP-250 vs a KPT-250 there seems to be very little difference in the response but quite a bit of difference in the volume of the cabinet but how that would affect a non ported Heresy I wouldn't know, but in looking at the KP series I would expect to see a different port size to keep the low end response comparable but they appear to be the same? I'm not sure what, if anything relevant, I just said but my questions started this morning regarding taking a pair of 250's and using them for sides or rears and then looked at the KPT and thought I could just cut the proper angle in.
  22. That wouldn't come close to the look that my girlfriend would have given me if I would have asked for that. Well it's official, just one glance at the x rays and replacement is coming soon. It's bone on bone so I'll go back in a month and figure out the schedule once I sift through all the insurance [bs] and see if I'm going to try and hole off until the 1st so I can get through everything and still have time to get the other one done within the same calender year. On the bright side, a big shot of Cortisone has already given me some relief and will hopefully last until the next visit.
  23. It's not the listening, it's carrying the heavy beasts around.[]
  24. I really was, but since I scored my 2 dirt cheap, I wouldn't offend you with a low ball offer and I need another speaker like I need to be flogged. I did shoot a friend of mine an e-mail as he really wants one and I will follow up when he responds. BTW, if you think commen sense is going to take over at this point; this is going to be a long thread.[bs] My honest suggestion would be to keep the 15 if you can and never regret selling it.
