  1. I zoomed in to the reflection on your TV, inverted the image and read the logo off the front of your camera. Ok....I think that only works in the movies. Nice. Watched Blade Runner a couple weeks ago - great great movie. Gotta see it at least once a year. Excellent room and setup, bonedoctor. Yep, Blade Runner. I remember seeing it in the theater in 1982. I just bought the 5 disc set. The version without the narration really is much better. On another note, a blu ray disc that'll knock your socks off visually and sound wise is Baraka. Check it out! I was seven in '82 [:$], and remember watching it in my early teens. Looked cool as all hell and I didn't know what the hell was going on. Can't watch that one with a short attention span. I've drooled over that 5 disc set many a time. I like knowing the background that the narration provides, then never watching that version again and staying with the 'quiet' version. Rock On.
  2. Same story here - did an A/B comparison with the Forte II and KG4. Forte IIs all the way.

  4. If I make it next time, I have a lot of silver/gray for 34. Does that help? [H]
  5. Looks like a good time was had by all. I hope to make it to the next Chicago gathering. Many modification/upgrades are beyond my knowledge base and seeing this stuff in person would be great. In the center of this pic, is that a Crites SC-1 someone made/put together?
  6. I see your point. My processor needs aren't real esoteric. Looked at the 'preliminary' XMC-1 features on the Emotiva Lounge (from Feb '09...?). Hope they release something more current before its release.
  7. Sweet find runnin, the KG Flagship! They definately pound out bass.
  8. Thanks wuzzzer. Emotiva expects the XMC-1 to be released the first quarter of 2011. Decisions, decisions.
  9. In a way they did have a UMC-1 discount, everyone who had previously bought an UMC-1 just received a $100 gift card from Emotiva. Very sweet. This is yet another time where they treat their customers well. A bit of a thread detour, but: If one were to purchase a UMC-1, would there be a 40% discount for that person when the XMC-1 is released?
  10. They must have more UPA-5 units on the shelves than others. Wish they'd have a Spooky $150 discount on the UMC-1.
  11. Through this forum (where else?) I learned that an SC-1 works well as a center channel with Forte I or II. Out of curiosity I bought an SC-1 on Ebay for around $60, and sure enough it blended very well with my Forte IIs. Went through many movies excercising the front stage and it sounded great! Sure the Academy is best suited, but this route is good at a much cheaper price. What I'm getting at is I've looked at the specs of both speakers and don't see much in common. They both have tractrix horns, but of different dimensions. I don't know what qualities they have to make them timbre matched, but it works with my ears.
  12. Speaking of careful, be careful when responding to posts over a year old. I couldn't resist. []
  13. Hey Lyle, just make sure you bring some of your favorite music that you're familiar with...I think my favorite part of these gatherings is all the new music you can get exposed to. It's also fun to listen to other gear and having your own music really helps make that more meaningful. I hope we get to meet you. Thanks again for the invitation, but I can't make it. Work. Definately like the idea of hearing different gear/mixing and matching. Raise a burger to the sky and crank something thick and heavy for me.
  14. A heads up on one of Emotiva's Halloween deals.
  15. I think Belle was PWK's wife's name. That is extremely cool, naming a labour of love after your wife.
  16. Belle is related to sound. Always liked that name for a speaker. But Valerie...not sure. Makes me think of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries.
  17. Looking at your pic and comparing what you're going through......well...you remind me I should look at things differently. Hope you surprise your doc and his prognosis.
  18. Bumming around the interweb for speaker mounts, I found the Omnimount brand has a lot of options, good looks, and can support heavier cabinets. I called and they sent me a PDF of specs. Thought I'd share. Never used them. That's my disclaimer. Omnimount Speaker Mounts.pdf Omnimount Speaker Mounts.pdf
  19. Thanks for the invite. I have an appointment either Friday night or Saturday morning, and will know for sure by Wednesday. Never been to a Klipsch gathering of any kind, and would love to be there. -Lyle
  20. Forte IIs are part of the Heritage family. Gary was just kidding. And yes, you're right about the KLFs being the Legend series. Details, details....you have a great pair of speakers!
  21. Great deal on those. After getting my Forte IIs I installed the titanium diaphragms and had Crites recap the crossovers. I love them! Have fun going through your music and movies again for the first time. Yes the Academy is the desired center, but you could also use a Synergy SC-1 with good results. They're cheaper (under $100 on Ebay) and will do the job well. Here's the thread.
  22. Very nice setup at a great price. I like the view too! Do you have room to mount it lower and still cover the original holes?
  23. Nah, not desperate. [] You know exactly what you want!
  24. Wow, an excellent price for used La Scalas. Whoever the buyer is, you can feel the grin from here.
  25. Welcome to the Forum. Post this in the Garage Sale section - you may get more reponse there. Enjoy your new purchase!
