  1. Its because we are so biased for our own teams to win we fail to see greatness. He was twice the quarterback in his prime.
  2. K-61-K Tractrix with 15" passive would be my pick.
  3. Long live Death Metal and Manfred Mann's Earth Band! LMAO. Seriously though looks good guys. Looks like Docs getting it put together.[Y]
  4. Have seen them many times myself. Always a good show.
  5. Nice. Where did you get the bases and how much of an improvement?
  6. Exactly what we did. Worked like a charm.
  7. In my situation it wasn't paypal at all it was ebay. They made paypal put a 21 day hold. Myself and the other party did a refund and just went through paypal on our personal accounts and bypassed ebay and all was well. Even though it was an ebay transaction they were none the wiser. And since you are using paypal you still have credit card protection.
  8. Colin, you've been sniffing too much glue again. As much as you may want to deny it, those B&W cabinets are engineered to the N'th degree for sound. Read one of their white papers. You may now go back to your fantasy land. LMAO
  9. The V'ger babe(llia) was Persis Khambatta. Kirstie Alley played Lt. Saavik in Star Trek II.
  10. Sounds like the son of Frankenstein. LOL!
  11. With a solid state amp of 50wpc with .25% distortion and with only a damping factor of 27 at 8 ohms I would think it would be very easy to overdrive the K-48 woofer with distortion and all the other drivers if you like to throttle the volume. Just to give you a comparison I am driving a Chorus II which has a K-48-E with an amplifier that has 500wpc with .1% distortion with a damping factor of over 3,000. When I throttle the volume it becomes a nightclub environment in the listening room. The K-48 just loves watts. I dont have a hint of distortion and talk about headroom. Mac makes some great equipment but if you love volume you might want to look at that their more powerful lines.
  12. Or, like the difference between peeing on a tree in the back yard vs. tinkling into a gold and diamond-encrusted urinal at the Ritz-Carlton, with the attendant helping you zip up. Yeah, but with this analogy it all really depends on the attendant[]
  13. For home audio with QSC you want to stick with the PLX line. This information is also given from Bob Lee, an engineer for QSC.
  14. Out of the two pro amps that I have used, QSC and Crown, I've really had no hiss or hum issues with either one. The home audio amps have given me the biggest problems.
  15. 1.4 volts for 500 watts is dead silent.
  16. Welcome to the forum. Nice speakers by the way. [Y]
  17. Yep, the Marantz is working exceptional with the combo. The signal on the Marantz is indeed plenty strong for the K2. The combo is so dead silent its scary. You going to make it to the Pilgrimage this year? I havevn't been to one so I'm looking forward to it and meeting as many of us crazy Klipschsters as I can.
  18. I can only imagine what your PA sounds like. I've just got to hear it one of these days. Yes, you can count me in. I will be there.
  19. After spending much more time with the K2 I am still finding it very fun to listen to. For all the talk about crown sounding cold and harsh(you know finger nails on a chalk board) I am finding the K2 to actually have a laid back midrange. Cymbals have lingering shimmer that sounds right. It is very quick on the notes an immediate attack. The bass is some of the most authoritive I've ever heard and so right where as the bass guitar stands out nicely from the kick drum. There isn't any one note and done with this amp. And probably the most noteable experience that I have had is the absolute dead quite background. The notes literally appear out of nowhere. I have never heard an amp this dead silent. Heck maybe its broke or something. LOL. But hey, for the price these things are going for these days you just can't really lose. If you don't like it pass it on to someone who surely will. Back to the QSC 2422 vs the Crown K2, the Crown is more lifelike. The QSC is smooth maybe almost to a fault. Now the QSC SRA 2422 is the Class H design so maybe that plays to some of the artificial flavoring it produces. Patricia Barber /Modern cool is absolutely fantastic. From jazz to rock this setup is working very well.
  20. I am sure glad you have a pair of Chorus II's and take care of all the experimentation. That set up blows my mind. I was expecting to see you set up the the Chorus II's for biwiring. Then working over the xover to pad the mid. Then throw in a set of Crites titanium tweets. Next a crown(K2) on the woofers and some tubes or class A SS on the mids and tweets. Did I say all that out loud? Very nice Doc. Get those Chorus II's to perfection and you got another customer.[Y] Oh by the way I am huge Tool fan. You got to get them sounding their best on the set up! Let me add after critically listening for awhile: The warmth and control of the marantz pre I'm using sure sounds fine. The power and neutrality of the Crown K2 is unbelieveable. Such attack of the notes and control of the 15inch woofer. Tried a few of the old Cd players I have laying around and I tell ya the little Oppo is a superstar.
