  1. This is not the case here: https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2019/10/09/will-stick-shifts-become-extinct?utm_source=SFMC&utm_medium=email&utm_content=19_October_12_Weekend_News Taught all my girls and a couple of nephews how to drive with a clutch and manual transmission. Victoria took her driver's test using my MT Honda. At least two of the above still prefer to drive a car with a manual transmission and clutch. Wb
  2. Trouble there is they are both strategically located in the world or want to either remain independent or join Canada. โ„๏ธโ„๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰ We'd have to beef up our navy quite a bit to defend Greenland properly from the world's Dictators (ala Putin). Ask anyone who has previously incurred our wraith just ask them if we can fight when we have to. If you know your WWI and WWII history you could read what the memoirs of General of Panzer Troops Hermann Balck say on this subject. Balck fought the Russians very, very, successfully against massive odds before being sent west to fight Canadians where he was more evenly countered by numbers and equipment. ๐Ÿ Wb
  3. Had a pair of these for about a week now after reading/watching every comparison review I could find. The Sony's beat all the rest consistently. Other than they stick out more when on me than I'd like they absolutely kill Apple's Earbuds with a wider sound stage and better hands free calls. Wb Of course - no affiliation other than I love Japanese made audio equipment, especially tube driven amps, etc..
  4. and Speaking of our women. Here's a few Canadian women for you. At least one already grabbed up:
  5. Randy Bachman is always a great guy and very accommodating even today. He has a great cross-country mostly oldies music show on CBC radio every Saturday Night. Burton Cummings I never met. Who provided the pick? Wb
  6. Check out the stainless steel made products at the Indian store if you haven't already. The make very good 18/10 steel spice containers and things like that. Wb
  7. I was lucky too. My dad was born in 1923 and depression era raised and things got tough after the big market crash for his family of ten. It wasn't until he and his brothers went into the military starting in the fall of 1939 that the household started to recover. My dad's dad was a Swiss Trained Chef so the food was always good at their home, but my grandmother only taught the girls in the family to cook. My dad, who could barely boil water absolutely depended on my mother to cook to survive, did all the grocery shopping in our household and I learned to always keep the pantry, basement shelves and fridges and freezers full from him. Especially with household staples when they come on sale. Drives my wife crazy sometimes though (until she actually needs something). Made sure I learned how to cook well before I left my parent's nest to make my way in the world without having to resort to having to eat much fast food. The first rule I taught my girls (now married and/or out working) was to be frugal, humble, compassionate and honest (and always vote in every election). They think I've turned into their grandfather. Especially when I make them homemade citrus cleaners and things like that. 'Here's some lemonade' on a Monday, followed three weeks later with a citrus and vinegar cleaner made with the peels. Wb
  8. Just don't try to entice them with a nuked frozen burrito and that weak stuff called 'beer' in the US. ๐Ÿด๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ˜‰ Wb
  9. I shoveled all the snow from last week off my entire lawn into the city sewer last Friday so I could gather up all the poplar leaves and cut the grass in preparation for aeration and winter fertilizer preparation on Saturday. Neighbors thought I lost my mind, but glad I did given this weeks snow. I'm heading south soon and don't want to find myself snowed out from winter prep this year. That happened last year. Now I just have to wait until just after the full moon to plant my garlic for next year. It'll be fairly dark out if cloudy so no one should notice until they see the straw cover in place the next day. Snowblower annual maintenance scheduled for this afternoon... when it warms up some more. Wb Winterpeg is probably not the best place to make a killing. However, if you go downtown there late at night you might get to witness a killing. Usually a knife is involved in the land of no property rights or proper Constitution. ๐Ÿ”ช Wb
  10. Speaking of local recent weather and what the locals do when things get too deep to walk in it: Wb
  11. Reel to Reel is my preference over vinyl. Listen to taped music often. I hope you responded with a turning up of your 'clips' system.๐ŸŽผ ๐Ÿ‘บ The 1812 Overture is always appreciated and a BIG Hit here early in the morning. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Wb
  12. Don't forget to gas up before you come. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ๐Ÿบ Wb
  13. Its actually closer to bottom sirloin on the animal and most likely be called that in most Western countries. Ribeye is the center section of the prime rib cut as a steak (no cap or bone of course). The first four of eight ribs being prime. Wasnโ€™t Delmonicoโ€™s a hotel restaurant somewhere in the USA? Wb
  14. My mom's dementia did kill my father. Official cause, Bladder Cancer. He never would consider putting her into memory care and was in perpetual motion his entire life never missing a day of work in 50 years, never had a sick day. Never a hospital patient from the time he was born in one until he passed away 92 years later. Dad could still fit into his WWII RCAF uniform and leather flight jacket all his life with weight and muscle loss only the last 8 months of his life. Both passed away within less than a year of each other. Mom absolutely riddled everywhere with cancer and 8 years younger than my father. Wb
  15. Sounds like he likes to cook like my dad eventually had to. ๐Ÿ• Wb
  16. Given the choice of that or nothing I'd go with that. ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ”ช Wb
  17. ^^^Like these from tonight's dinner:
  18. Browning it the frying pan well on all sides first is the key. Than 10 to 20 minutes per lb. in the waiting hot oven. I make either an au jus or gravy and Yorkshire pudding. ๐Ÿด Wb
  19. What you do a snow day when your have lots and lots of lemons (simple syrup for this made this morning):
  20. In the frequently frozen country north of the 49th (Alberta). Heading south soon.โ„๏ธ Wb
  21. Smokers are currently buried under a foot of snow with external temps lately not conducive to a hot smoke. A little past cold smoke salmon season too this year. If I find someone locally named Will who won't mind getting his Canada Goose Parka giving off the distinctive smell of a long smoke I'll draft him. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Wb
  22. Yes. I've noticed that. Garcia must have liked what he heard to commit to HDCD. Wb
  23. $90 for 29 CD's recorded in HDCD format is a pretty good deal. I'll PM you shortly. Wb
  24. Hickory and Oak go well with beef brisket and beef ribs and would make a good starting point with tri-tip. I suspect tri-tip will not require all day smoking like a full or partial beef brisket. Past smoking season here, so doing the oven a 425 degrees F route here now. Wb
  25. Thanks, I'll have to check it out further when I've got a few free minutes. Still running Windows 7 64 bit on a big stable Dell Precision T7400 workstation here, but have never installed Java. Love my big old Dell but not sure about Windows 10 even with support for 7 officially going away at year-end. Wb
