altpensacola I like your idea of RB81's would I get 4 and a center channel or are those just for the left and right channels?

I would like to use the 2400 for speakers but then Id have none left over for a receiver. If I were to spend 2000 on speakers then I could have some left over for a decent receiver I was thinking about the Onkyo TX-SR608 mainly because of its flexibility to have front wides or front highs, and in the future if I do decide to go from 5.1 to 7.1 then all i have to do is purchase 2 extra speakers. I have been checking Ebay and Craigslist for some good deals as well.

My advice would be to keep the frequency response the same, Its important but you can compromise. Because your looking at surrounds and not fronts or center you can get away with it easier because of HRTF (head related transfer functions) your head has a different response for sound that is originating form the front than the rear. So you can get 3 or 4 42 II's for surround. But you would have to EQ the surrounds in order for them to have the same perceived frequency response as the front. It also depends on how big of a room you have. But my humble opinion is if you have a receiver that can handle 4 discrete channels of surround then go for it. However your going to have to eq them. If you get the 82's then you wont have to EQ those (as much). I hope this helps

Just get a RCA to 1/8" converter and plug the white male end of the RCA into the SWS port and then get an adapter female to female 1/8" and plug both the Pro media and the RCA converter into that adapter and your set. Be sure you have the control pod for it or none of this will work. once you have everything plugged in, turn the main volume to max and then adjust the subs level by using the subwoofer knob.

Id either go with a SVS PB-13 Ultra or a Velodyne DD 18. Of course this all depends on your price range as well. Sub EQ's work wonders if your willing to pay for one. But low end bass is always tricky to get because of issues such as standing waves and room modes. Best of luck.

That just looks like the whole circuit board thats what PCB stands for Printed Circuit Board. If its a klipsch product then see if you can find one off ebay then use it for parts. It might just be the amp. I don't know what the damage is.

To any of you who own this fine product, I have found a way to select more than one bass management option. The Dolby chip inside has 10 different bass management settings, the fire wave app only lets you select two (on or off) Now most people would ask "why do I need more than two I like to keep it simple" well I can understand that. If interested I can post the instructions that allow you to change the settings. Its as simple as copy and paste. Just thought Id share my discovery with the community.

Well there is a number of cleaning agents for different materials. Here is a list Anything metal: Denatured alcohol or isopropyline alcohol (90%) It evaporates very quickly leaving no residue or gunk. Don't use this on anything other than metal as it will suck the moisture out of it. Rubber: I use Windex although you could use iKlear which is a water based solvent that is guaranteed not to damage rubber, you can buy it online or at a local apple store. Plastic: Windex or iKlear Works for me. It depends on if anything is printed on the plastic. New things generally are painted with automotive paint so your fine. Wood: Use Pledge or pinesol.

I own a 2.1 system myself, I just plug it into my headphone port. So no, its not necessary to put an external DAC between the computer and speakers. Now if you want pristine sound quality you might want to look into a high end sound card (pc) or look at an Apogee Duet (mac).

Im glad you like it, Id get more lights but at $50 a pop for Ikea LED lights I might as well wait until Christmas.

So If Im reading this correctly, buying a second sub 12 would only make the subs frequency response louder and not lower, Correct?

My setup is more a studio than a home theater but hey, same thing, right? Anyways here it is. This is where I work on movies, radio shows, scoring, and mixing. It all happens right here. My current setup is due for an update though. I have a 5 year old iMac (intel core 2), but it serves me well. Those speakers glowing green are my 5.1 monitors, I use those mainly for scoring and video post production. I have a 2.1 for mixing radio and projects that only require stereo. The red cube thing is a frosted glass lamp that I got from ikea (they have the coolest lights there) as well as the LED to light my speakers. Here is some technical info. I have been scratching my head on this one, It seems like an easy question but Im still unsure. So here it is If I have one sub 12 that goes down to 25Hz, If I get another sub 12, would that lower the combined frequency response to say, 20 or 15? In theory it makes sense; more air thats moving the louder the SPL. I just don't know how much of a difference it will make.

Recently SVS has been working updating their PB13 ultra. Well it just got released and the updated sub has some benefits as well as some setbacks, so ill list them. The first change is the amp, the old amp was a Bach 650W with tons of knobs for tuning the sub. The New model has an 1000W amp made by Formosa Audiomate (sledgehammer) and is completely digital with only one knob. The second change is the finish, they sold textured black, natural oak, rosenut (imported), Cherry, and piano gloss black. They have discontinued the textured black and replaced it with stained black oak. The third change is the price, everything is now 100 to 200 more expensive. The good: More power and less cluttered knobs. Different finishes, and a digital amp. The bad: Some people still prefer the analog knobs for adjusting, can be frustrating navigating menus. Its kind of hard to get the subs settings perfect, i usually leave my crossover point around 60 and the gain at 1 o'clock.

First Make sure all of the audio plugs are securely in. Then make sure the sub volume is at 0 or -2. If that sill doesn't help then unplug everything and then plug it back in.

Sub 12 Hands down. Less problems, more bass. (that is if your comparing just those two)
