  1. I just recently upgraded my power to an Outlaw 750, I basically run my Integra as a pre. I will probably never look back. AVR pros: AVR cons: All-in-one package Usually A LOT less power to your speakers Usually cheaper Has to work very hard to do all things at once (process signals, power everything, handle vid) Most of the time takes up MUCH less space Overall sound quality not as good (seperation of instruments, might strain when pushed) Obviously, vise versa on the pros/cons for separates. The first thing I noticed when I got my amp was the separation of instruments, next thing was that I felt like my ears would give before the amp strained at all. Sometimes I felt like my Integra (rated at 105w/ch) strained just a bit at high volumes. Also, for me, the mids were cleaned up A LOT when I added the Outlaw. The thing you have to keep in mind (which you obviously are) is that you will need 2 additional peices of equipment (3/5 ch amp AND a pre). That can get pricey, especially if you want to stick with Rotel (which I wouldn't blame you, I've heard Rotel pairs really well with Klipsch). All this is strictly my opinion, anyone feel free to disagree. Jrod
  2. Good lookin' stands, they look VERY sturdy! Nice work![Y]
  3. Nope, the lead singer's name is Ben Bridwell. Sting's son fronts a group called Fiction Plane??? Never heard them. Maybe Floyd will grow on me. I do have great respect for Gilmore, I know he's a great musician. I've heard his blu-ray is outstanding.
  4. The Stones- Sorry, just can't stand them. Pink Floyd- Thank god this is a "no flame" thread, because I'm sure some of you are looking for something to throw at your computers. I just don't get it, the lightshows and everything?? I don't know, must be awesome if you're high as a kite, but I don't do anything harder than booze, so again, I don't get it. All Country- save John Cash, tough area of the country to live in if you hate country music...might be part of the reason I do. All Death Metal- Come on guys. Why so angry? Now, I happen to love Dave Matthews, but I can totally understand why a lot of people hate him. He does have fantastic musicians around him. Timmy Reynolds is a pretty darn good guitar player. Also, there are some really great newer bands out there, they are just really hard to find because they aren't played on the readio (thank god), and pop music sucks so badly right now. A band called Band of Horses comes to mind...great band, formed in Seattle but has a very southern-bluesy sound. Jrod
  5. Hands down the funniest, most well-crafted post I have read on this forum since I became a member 6 months ago. Just hilarious. Well done, sir.
  6. Thanks guys! I'll try it both ways tonight and let you know what I think.
  7. Welcome Andy! I had RF-25's matched with a RC-35 before my current set-up and I loved it. Here's one on Audiogon: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1276098845&/Klipsch-RC-35-New-Price!-Cente I'd look to spend between $100-$200 for a used RC-35, they are pretty easy to come by really. Might also be one for say in the "Garage Sale" section of this forum. Like I said, I really enjoyed mine, I'd bypass the 25 and go straight for the 35, just my $.02. Good luck! Jrod
  8. Continuing the threadjack theme... Dtel, I do have a 5 channel amp powering my front soundstage, do you think I should set my front speakers to "Large" in my Integra? The Outlaw pushes 165w/ch (real watts). What do you think?
  9. Looks great KlipschHead! Both before and after!
  10. I know what you mean Mark, it's my favorite! Don't tell my other kids...er...I mean speakers! It's an imposing, beast of a center. I love when my friends see it for the first time, it's usually something like: "Good lord, that's a monster!" I just grin ear to ear like a proud papa! If you haven't seen one in person it's hard to comprehend just how big it is.
  11. Thanks Tx! How do you like your Integra?
  12. Thanks Mark! I appreciate the nice words.
  13. Nice Youth! Seems like you are pleased. The instrument separation is one of the first things I noticed right off the bat with the Outlaw. That and pure, clean, clarity at very high volumes, no strain whatsoever. Sounds like you're getting the same thing. Congrats on what seems like a truly great amp. You were patient, and ready, and it has paid off!! Enjoy that bad boy!!! Master and Commander yet???
  14. Couple of upgrades (Integra and Outlaw) since I last posted pics. http://s812.photobucket.com/albums/zz41/jrod101_photos/Klipsch/ Thanks for looking!! Jrod

    Sound Panels

jon, I can't actually help with your question but I did want to comment on you avatar... It makes me laugh everytime I see it! It's like your dog is saying "Do NOT be fooled by this fluffy exterior... You DO NOT want to piss me off!!" Classic. I don't know if you were intending it to be funny, but it is. GL with your ?
  16. Thanks for the responses guys. The deal ended up falling through, he sold it to someone else. No big deal, I'm in no hurry. Yeah, I saw that listing today Bill. I've heard great things about NAD paired with Klipsch. Not ready to shell out that kind of coin (yet!). I'm going to keep an eye on that post, if I can talk him down significantly I might make a move, we'll see. Thanks again, guys.
  17. Hi guys and gals, I'm new to the 2ch forum, spend most of my time in the HT side. I was wondering if anybody had any information regarding a vintage receiver that I've found. It's a Kenwood KR-6160 circa '70-73. I'm going to eventually (2-3 months) pick up a pair of Heresey's and devote a room to strictly 2ch. I was wondering if this might be a good starter receiver? It's rediculously cheap so if it doesn't work out, no big woop! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  18. Let me know when you are ready to get rid of those 3 La Scala's and I will gladly drive my happy *** to NC, with $900, and take them off your hands![]
  19. Looks great Youth, very clean. I'm ready for that amp review!! I'll keep my eyes peeled for the thread. Your ultimate plan is coming together nicely, well done. I bet it feels good![Y]
  20. Really nice set-up there JB, nice and clean! Also, FANTASTIC movie. One of my top 5 of all time. Did you notice at the Oscars when Jeff Bridges won best actor... He really talks like that, he really is the Dude!!! Hilarious.

    7 channel amp?

I just recently became a member of the "external amp" community, so I'm really excited to give any input I might have on the subject. Now, I have an Outlaw powering my Ref. line so my input may not be as beneficial to you (since you're curious about the Heritage line). However, in my research into Outlaw paired with Klipsch I came across a few posts about Heritage owners running Outlaw amps. All the posts basically said the same thing... Everyone really liked the combo. The Outlaws can tend to be a little bright with Ref. gear (which I really like, sounds "crisp" to my ears) which I think a lot of Heritage owners liked. Gave the beautiful, "laid back" sound of the Heritage line a little bite. At least that's what I gathered. Good luck! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the afore mentioned amps.
  22. Hahaha!!! Too funny! Well, in that case, I need every Y-cable you have!!![]
  23. Thank you, Inventor! That is exactly what I needed to know!!
  24. Congrats Smoke! I think you're really going to enjoy the lossless, especially coming out of that bad boy. I love movies out of my Integra (Onkyo) and with a little tweaking, I really enjoy music out of it now as well! With your new PJ and now that beast, you're setting yourself up for success in that new theater room! Let us know your thoughts once you get everything set up!!
  25. 2nd Youth on UP!, it is a great film. Really good on BD, great sound, great visuals (obviously, Pixar). If you haven't seen it you should.
