  1. Excellent work! Props on your Hot Sauce Collection. I own most of those as well.
  2. Thanks for the assist! Well, I haven't had any luck trying to contact the seller, either, but thanks for trying! I would hazard a guess that they might already be sold... I guess that this is a sign that I should wait until I can really afford them, anyways. ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player Technics SL-MC4 CD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say...
  3. Thanks for the quick responses, everyone! justin_tx_16: If you wouldn't mind, give them a look for me, and let me know...I can't think of a better way to kill a couple of hours. Maybe I can scrounge up the money...the wife just left country on a month's vacation, so maybe I can be stealthy about it. <evil grin> Cool, edster00 Belles and Klipschorns? I know the Klipschorns are the cream of the crop...I think I have speaker envy already. Way back when, I was stationed over in Zweibruecken, Germany...they used 2 pair of La Scalas for the audio system in the hockey rink on the base. (was Canadian before the Americans took it over) A friend of mine was the night manager there....we'd always grab some music just for fun. Nothing like jamming to Zeppelin while riding the Zamboni. ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player Technics SL-MC4 CD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say...
  4. Well, looks as though the pair are sold, but I can't help but wonder if he would have delivered all the way down here in San Antonio. 5. Hi! Not a newbie here, so just ignore my post count...I've been an chronic lurker for about a year now. Lots of great info, good laughs, great conversation on what is probably the foundation of a great audio system....Klipsch Loudspeakers. I've read many a thread in all the forums here, but I've got a burning question. I've noticed lots of owners of different models -- Reference (3's 5's and 7's) and Heritage (Klipschorns, Heresy, La Scala, Cornwalls, KLF-30's, etc.) But there's one that I've noticed curiously absent. Where are the Belle Klipsch owners? About some 15+ years ago, I had the fortune to hear a pair of Belles...and I was hooked. I haven't given up the dream of someday owning a pair of these...and have been reading and searching for info on comparison of the Belle to other speakers in the rest of the Klipsch lineup. Haven't found any. :\ Any ideas? Thanks, from a fellow Klipsch fan and owner. ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player Technics SL-MC4 CD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say...
  6. Hey, it's been awhile since I've posted last, and I went back to reread some old threads that I liked before. Here's an example of one of the funniest threads ever....hope you enjoy! 7. stcaldwell, I'm aware of that. That comment was directed mostly to other potential Klipsch fans, not necessarily yourself. Of course, when you go without sleep for 36+ hours (as I did when I posted that), the thought processes and the communication skills lose their razor edge. ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player Technics SL-MC4 CD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say...
  8. Here's two CD's that I used to audition the Reference set I have now: Johann Sebastian Bach: Great Organ Works (Laserlight) It has all the pipe organ music to test all the frequencies, but especially the lower frequencies, as it does have lows that go down to 15hz!! This will really tax your subwoofer to the max. The CD is somewhat hard to find, so here's a link at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000001VPS/qid%3D99523 4255/sr%3D1-59/ref%3Dsc%5Fm%5F59/002-7578473-3394418 My second CD is a personal favorite: Crime of the Century, Supertramp Lots of good music all around, and loads of musical bass throughout every track. Best bet is to listen to them on your existing system, then give 'em a tryout on a pair of Klipsch. You'll be amazed (as I was) of the great sound Klipsch delivers. ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player Technics SL-MC4 CD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say... 10. I have the Technics SA-DX1050 (newer version of the SA-DX1040 that mpgwagon has). I could have spent more money and got an Onkyo, but I like the value and sound this receiver has. 13. My second cousin's next door neighbor has a friend that owns a pair of Bose 701 speakers, but he has been having a problem. I'm hoping one of you will help us out. Every time he invites a group of friends over for some ice cold Schlitz and a BBQ cookout (found Spam on sale at the local K-Mart - cheap!!), his friends keep stamping out their cigarette butts and Swisher Sweet cigars on top of his speakers. Althought I have noticed this does enhance the sound quality and soundstage these speakers present, it does make quite a mess in his trailer home, which could present him with even more problems with his landlord. He was wondering if there is an 'Ashtray' Accessory package available (looks like it should mount on top with no problem), and if it also includes a 'cigarette lighter' option. He currently has a Bic lighter duct taped to the side of the speaker, but it would be so cool to have a pop out cigarette lighter just like my '73 Ford Pinto does. That would be so convenient! Thanks! ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say...
  14. Yeah, I finally brought home a new Acoustimass 15 speaker system. I have a problem that I hope you folks could help a fellow Bose fan with... It seems that after lots of serious comparison in different speaker setups for the best possible cinema-like sound and 'deep' bass, I came to the conclusion that the Acoustimass setup sounded its absolute best just before I took it out of its original packaging. Is this normal? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. 16. Well, for what it's worth, I tend to agree with your newly adopted 'viewpoint' Of course, I liked the sound of the speakers I have right out of the box, so for me, is that considered a 'break in' period? heehee I think 'break in' is one of two possible things: 1. Break in of the speakers themselves (woofers, tweeters, etc.) 2. Break in of the listener's auditory reception and /or interpretation skills. Well, now that I've narrowed it down... ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say... 17. Here's my rule of thumb. This, of course depends on your amplifier/receiver, and whether or not you can adjust your 'cut off or crossover' frequency (several are fixed at 80hz, my receiver is adjustable, but only down to 100hz ) If your speakers (especially front L/R) can handle the lower frequencies below your cut off, set the base management to those speakers to 'Large', otherwise set them to 'Small'. Then adjust your subwoofer crossover to blend in evenly with your front speakers. For example, I have my RF-3's set to Large, and my RC-3 and RS-3's set to Small. The RF-3's can go down to about 37hz, according to the specs, so I consider them a 'full range' speaker, while the RC-3 and RS-3 can only go down to 60hz or so (not much below the crossover set on the receiver). I set my subwoofer's dial to about 60hz or so to blend evenly with the RF-3's bottom end of 37hz.) In my receiver, for each speaker that is set to 'Small', the lower frequencys below the crossover is redirected to the fronts (if they are configured as Large), and/or the lower frequencies are sent to the subwoofer. This, of course, is assuming that your subwoofer is connected via the RCA out jack from your receiver with a cable directly to the subwoofer, which mine is. Of course, you can connect the sub via speaker wire to the A Main speakers, and let the Subwoofer do the bass management, but then again, that's another page or two of typing, and I'm lazy today. Does that make any sense? Of course, there's so many different receivers and each one handles the bass management differently.....and each speaker out there doesn't cover the full frequency range. It would be a perfect world where all speakers could faithfully produce all tones from 15hz to 20,000hz. That would solve the bass management problem once and for all, I think. ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say... 18. I just recently purchased the Reference series (RF-3, RC-3, and RS-3) minus subwoofer for approximately $1300. This setup is imho, the best bang for the buck you can get, in this price range. If you have the bucks, you can even get the newer Reference models that are just hitting the stores now (see klipsch.com for more info). I'm very pleased with my purchase. Even so, I still wish I had the bucks, the space, and the Klipsch setups that several other posters here have. (example: 13 KLF-30's? 2 pairs of Cornwalls? 2 Khorns and 3 LaScalas? I feel overwhelmed. ) It's great to reside in Klipschland, where there's always room to grow. : ------------------ RF-3 Mains RC-3 Center RS-3 Surrounds Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say...

  21. I read the following in a review thread of the Acoustimass 15 at audioreview.com, thought I'd share it here. Enjoy! Famous Bose Sayings: 1. Bose Blows! 2. Friends don't let friends buy Bose. 3. No highs, no lows? Must be Bose. 4. Just follow your nose...crap smells like Bose. 5. I got hosed by Bose. 6. Those Bose have gots to goes! Bose - A brief history _______________________________________________________ 1964-Founding Of Bose In the 1950s, Rev. Dr. Amar Buffet Bose IX observed loudspeakers didnt deliver natural sound. Extensive research into the science of sound, lasting all of 20 minutes, led to the formation of Bose Corporation. 1968-Birth Of A Legend The legendary 901® Direct/Reflecting® speaker is introduced, coming down from the sky playing "Carmina Burana." It reflects 89% of the sound off walls similar to a live concert taped by a bootlegger with his Fisher Price tape deck for natural, lifelike sound. 1969-Double Blind Test Bose pioneers the double blind test, wherein Bose speakers are placed in a room and our competitors' speakers are placed in a high school gym. The first man to hear our speakers leaves the room saying: "No highs, no lows -- it must be a Bose." 1972-Pro Loudspeakers Bose enters the professional ranks by producing a loudspeaker system designed exclusively for the demanding, discriminating tastes of the professional musician. Unfortunately, these people didn't buy our products. 1972-Syncom® Testing Computer Bose establishes the proprietary Syncom computer to acoustically measure speakers against a laboratory model to guarantee a level of consistency and reliability. The next day the computer crashes and is never repaired. 1973-Promotional Offer Bose invents potato salad. This comes free with any purchase over $5,000. 1975-Worlds Best-Seller The 301® Direct/Reflecting® speaker system is launched into space following the Apollo 17 mission. Renowned Bose technologies, versatile design and affordability make it one of the worlds best-selling speakers. Too bad it doesn't sound very good. 1982-Moving Sound Bose introduces a custom-designed, factory-installed system specifically for automobiles. Some of the worlds most luxurious cars today, including Hyundai and Yugo, feature Bose sound systems. 1983-Immobile Sound Hyundai and Yugo drop our speakers from their available options, as a result of their quality control standards. 1984-Acoustic Waveguide Bose designs acoustic waveguide technology and brings component system sound to a compact system with a side order of fries. Experience full sound with rich bass from an extremely small enclosure which sounds just as bad as you've come to expect from Bose. 1985-Advertising Bose dupes 101,031 people into buying our speakers as a result of an aggressive advertising campaign. 1986-Acoustimass® Speaker Technology Acoustimass speaker technology is born at 3:05 p.m. weighing 6 lbs. 3 oz. Room filling sound is available without a room full of equipment. Virtually Invisible® speaker design includes cube speaker arrays and compact module. By cutting out the insides of the cube speakers, they can be used to make high quality ice cubes at no additional charge. 1987-Inventor Of The Year Acoustic waveguide technology creates a stir in the scientific community, earning Dr. Bose and Dr. William Short Inventor of the Year honors. Those who determined the "Inventor of the Year" picked up their checks in the mail shortly thereafter. 1989-Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headsets Bose Acoustic Noise Cancelling headsets are created to bring clear communication and protection into the cockpit for pilots and on the ground for air and ground crew. They work incredibly well at cancelling all sound in the headsets. Plane crashes have increased every year since. 1990-Lifestyle® Systems Bose develops Lifestyle® systems. Our proprietary system design approach and Virtually Invisible® speaker design create an unmatched level of performance and design, unless you include any speaker that is made by our competitors. 1993-Wave® Radio The Wave radio, the worlds finest sounding radio (in our unbiased opinion), is introduced. Acoustic waveguide technology delivers rich, deep sound not previously heard from an enclosure this ridiculously overpriced. 1994-Auditioner® Audio Demonstrator Auditioner audio demonstrator is created by our renowned engineer Mortimer M. McMarmocet. You hear the exact acoustic performance of a buildings proposed sound system before the building is constructed for the amazingly low price of $1 million dollars plus a $200,000 surcharge for installation. Potato salad not included. 1995-Jewel Cube® Speaker Bose designs the Jewel Cube speaker to bring high performance sound down to size easily hidden behind your hand, which a lot of our customers requested, since many routinely play hide & seek with their speakers. ------------------ RF-3 Mains (currently on order) RC-3 Center RS-3 Surround Sony SAWM40 Subwoofer Technics SA-DX1050 receiver Panasonic DVD-RV31K DVD player JVC 32" TV Not too bad, I must say...
