  1. I have been using music servers since 2005... I've used apple, pc, and a western digital server... Apple was my favorite but the most expensive. I'm using my htpc as a server now and use cloud to stream content... Anyways, my contribution to this whole thing was that I personally think creative labs sound cards are extremely over rated. I would and have purchased m-audio any day of the week over creative labs. I bought creatives 200 dollar sound card about 7 years a go and I thought it was great until I switched to an apple and bought an m-audio external sound card for 80 dollars and I blew away the creative labs... I've never looked back...
  2. I love mine, and also got from a forum member... Mark, I coudn't be happier, I would never have been able to afford seperates otherwise
  3. I think good might be an understatement for this one... The dog would be our Border Collie named Andy, he just turned 2 about a week ago. Mywife and I got him from a small breeder outside of Madison, Wi when I got off active duty in 2009.
  4. sept post... wow, not sure what happened here...
  5. I was atually going to post over in the 2 ch section for the first time tonight. I actualy built the Grounded Grid Pre-Amp and did an attenuator upgrade about 6.5 years a go. I used the GG with a pair of NAD 2200's & B&K Ref 200.2, I drove a pair of Infinity Beta Speakers with the NAD's/B&K and drove a pair of Heresy's with the B&K. I had a lot of fun building the kit and it is really easy. I believe that Bruce Rozenblit really knows his stuff and knows how to design a good product. I used my GG daily for about 2 years and I packed it away for about 4 years because I was moving all the time and didn't have room for it, but I got it out for the 1st time today and it started right up. I used it for about 1/2 hour and it sounded great. The tubes were not even warm when I shut it down today. As it stands today for me, I am going to use the Nakamichi 420 I have now and I'm looking for the good deal on a pair of Heresy's to finish this system off. All in all, I think Transcenedent Sound makes a good sounding product and I think they are well designed. My biggest complaint about the GG is that the chasis and cover are made of stainless steel and they made with a break and its not 100% straight. The brushed Al front is just OK, but I have seen a lot of guys make custom cabinets out of wood and they looked really good, reminded of Juicy Music Products. I hope this helps, I would love to buy an OTL amp kit...
  6. According to the list of online dealers.... JR music is not one of them...
  7. Seinfeld, Jerry has a pair of heritage in his apartment...
  8. Apc g5 - I see subx has it. I just bought one with a gift card I had.... Like the others have said. I noticed no difference, but it looks cool and it replaced my old one... I wouldn't have paid for one though.... I think they are waste of money
  9. I look forward to improvements... It's only a matter of time
  10. I back in feb. Purchased the rc62 and rf82... It's a great set-up and the best ht I've ever owned... Watch the prices on amazon... There are authorized resellers on amazon that offer very good pricing...
  11. I don't want to argue this, being stop lost would be crap, but now they are paying a lot of money to keep someone on stop loss which has effectively eliminated the practice... ESP in the national guard....
  12. That is a very awesome pic of the second ID... As a member of the armed forces, I am always impressed by the ability of soldiers to over come obstacles and continue to move forward.. It is a very inspiring group of people... Thank you to all that have served...
  13. Radio shack sells one for $40.00... As an individual who has perm hearing loss, it's no joke... Be careful... It doesn't come back...
  14. Well after the update, I had my first center channel drop.... Argggg... On the positive my sound has not dropped once on my htpc, but I have not been able to use it much.... So here's for hoping... Xki I have not seen you in awhile, how is it going? I finally got new rear speakers... They should be here Friday.... Kde the firmware is basically like a software update... Its supposed to fix a lot of the bugs.... If you go to the emo lounge you can see what the firmware update is supposed to address exactly, Ill try and find it tonight and post it
  15. You'll get more hits in the home theater section... You will want an amp if you add more speakers... An amp will give you a lot more headroom now... Look into emotive and NAD.... Good luck and have fun with it....
  16. From everything I have heard I would skip the klipsch subs... I had a buddy who had a ksw10 back about 8 years a go, and i was not impressed... Which is how I ended up with an infinity entra one... Its next on my list to be replaced...i have heard really good things about the emotive subs... I own an emo pre/pro and amp and if their speakers are anything like their gear, it would be awesome.... Check out the emo lounge for used gear... It always goes quick, but deals are generally found
  17. Well for the umc owners out there, emo released a new firmware about a week and half ago. A lot of people had problems with the umc taking the dsp flash... Including myself. I found my issue was that the umc does not respond well to windows 7 x64 service pack1... In fact, I had given up on it, and when I unplugged everything my umc wouldn't even load because it took the flash... When I went to windows vista it took the whole thing in about 10 min... I haven't had much time to play around with it yet, but my only issue with the umc is that I get a lot of sound drops from htpc.... So I hope that this solves that issue... If you run into problems try running your computer in safe mode it seemed to work for some people... And emonatics had a bunch of stuff on their website for people with issues...
  18. I will point out that the bic did get very high marks from users on avs.... I would also check out emotiva subs... Several members here have them an love them... I believe subx has one...
  19. Well if you can swing for the rc62 I would go for that... And your f3's won't be the best match but I'm sure it will be fine in the short term... A lot of us including me have had to piece our systems together slowly... Personally I would skip the bic and go for something different... Used svs can be had for a song... I highly doubt that the bic is using a "Venturi" in their process.... My lame attempt at humor there... You will have fun with your new setup... When you do get a sub play around with where it sounds best... Mine has to be in front because my cable is too short and I'm too cheap to buy a longer one right now... Plus I want a new sub altogether.... Good luck
  20. I'm entirely on the ipad2 now... An app would be pretty sweet... Avs forum has one out already
