  1. Thank goodness I was spared. Shortly after purchasing some Mac gear and Bose 901s I went to a dance party(hey it was the 70s) and had my first encounter with LaScalas. No salesmen gimmicks at the party. After inquiring what the heck are those and where do you get them I shortly thereafter had my own pair. And still have them to this day. The 901s were sold pretty much for what I paid for them. Good riddance.

  2. Ditto the comment from cecaa850. Been around a long while. Used them back in the early 80s at Hughes Aircraft on Radar test equipment. Personally only have needed a water proof connection when i hacked through a direct burial sprinkler valve control wire. That's when i found out they make water proof wire nuts also.

  3. A might bit chilly this am/last night. Down in the 20s for sure maybe the high teens up at 2000 ft where I live. The puddles left by the last 5 days of rain had ice on top this morning. But the sun is shinning again. Strange, bright and sunny but the thermometer in my car said 29 degrees on the way into work this morning.

  4. @Dave A Pretty much we are free to set things up as we see fit at Rodney's clubhouse on Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday. I don't think the Klipsch factory will be keen on you bringing the Super MWMs there, I mean to the factory. You will have plenty of volunteers to help moving those babies. I would think you will need a whole speaker system not just LF cabinets, are you thinking of bringing a top end also?

OK question on these. This is just a piece of wood 1.5" thick and will not stand without support. Is a simple rectangular base say 6" deep OK? Screwed to the bottom and of the same wood.

I don't see why not. As long as it is big enough to make it stable. High freq energy coming out of a tweeter is not going to move it. Just make sure that it won't stick out past the back of the cabinet if the user is setting the tweeter back to align with the mid driver.

some seem to think that psychoacoustics and acoustical engineering knowledge of 50-75 years ago can be somehow become "old/outmoded".  I.e., that there are better experts today whose thoughts today somehow eclipse those original writers, and that all of what the physics and engineering giants of the past wrote and posted data on--is now "not worth the time to read, understand, and discuss" as if it is not just as important today as the day when it was first written

  7. Floor looks great @CECAA850. I would love to do the same. I just don't know who I can trust out here to do it properly. This weekend was the first in a long time that it rained and I was home. So instead of outdoor chores I actually got stay in and get some indoor stuff done. Got some wire chases installed in the utility room so I can get all the 2 channel basement system wires up off the floor. That way the next time the water heaters gives it won't be a complete disaster.

    REMOVE solder.
    REMOVE heat.

At the same time. Not so critical with wires and connectors but with semi conductors it is.  If the iron is left on the item being soldered after removal of solder the temperature rises dramatically and can damage the device.

But yea connectors are for convenience, service ability, adaptability etc...
