  1. Last summer I first replaced my Quartets stock tweeter diaphragms with Crites Ti's. Listened for a couple weeks and loved them. Then went with Crites mid diaphragms and A-B them and noticed a nice improvement. Listened for a couple weeks again, then installed new Crites crossovers. A-B'd them against stock and it everything opened up and filled in nicely (if that makes sense?..lol). They did take a little to get used to as it does change the sound slightly. They are keepers and just keep getting better after 6 months. Sorry if this is disjointed as I'm on my phone with power down here in Toronto with ice storm. For 80 dollars it's a no brainer if you can afford it and plan on keeping them!. hope that helps
  2. Hey duder right on !...can you post bigger size pics? They are too small to see any detail. We are running the same amp (yours is prettier with the glass!). The heresies will sound fantastic with it as are my upgraded quartets! congrats.
  3. I'll get it restored eventually , but putting the Marantz and the rb61's in there sounds fantastic. I just turn on the Normande when I showed some friends so it looks like it's playing with the Marantz tucked away underneath....lol The teak looks wonderful and is a solid unit
  4. My 2nd table after a Kyrocera p701 that sounds wonderful as well. I'm struggling to let it go now and will probably hold onto it. What carts do you have on them? I have an extra carrier and just bought a Shure M97xE for spare and using the old Empire 150 and it sound fantastic. I have an extra Ortofon om 20 as well. I saw that in the manual where you can tilt this TT but with the new plinth around 25 lbs I'll pass on that test lol
  5. I couldn't find my old thread since the site switchover, In July I was walking home and stumbled across a local estate sale going on and scored a walnut veneered custom console that had a Marantz 2225 and Dual 1019 TT with an Empire 150 Cart with stylus with plenty of life left that was sitting idle for over 20 years. I bought it for 40 or 60 dollars (can't remember) and carried it home 2 city blocks. I dismantled it as my woodworking friend said it was too done in to restore. I cleaned and deoxit the Marantz and is now working beautifully in the bedroom where I placed it in a 1969 Teak Normande console (that works but needs a little work done) and I replaced the original drivers with rb61's (that i bought cheap with rough cabinets) they slid in place almost perfectly. The Dual 1010 works but needs to be relubed. Anyway, I took the 1019 base template from the original console to my woodworking buddy and he was excited to put together a new walnut plinth for the 1019. While he worked on it I had the 1019 refurbished and cleaned it up. Here is some pics of the 1019 in it's new home! Total cost of the 1019 about 100$ for wood supplies and TT (free labour ) Just thought I'd share Forgot to include that the Normande console (which I paid 140.00 for) had this Telefunken Reel to Reel in it which I think I'm going to test out on my 2 channel set up at some point, but I have no knowledge of R2R, but does work.
  6. Get out of my head! I had to really look at that! Those bookshelfs look massive! I'm running rf-81's with rc-64 and dont miss my rf towers at all !.....They are like mini towers and match up and sound fantastic with the 64 as I'm sure they would with the rc-62 which I owned before. GLWS
  7. I was thinking the same thing seeing your RF-7ii's in your profile. My Acurus a200Five sounds fantastic on my RF series HT and sounded great hooked to the Quartets as well.
  8. The others are bang on about grabbing the rt-10d until you can find a rsw-15. I was very happy with my rt-10 and only upgraded because of the chance to do it unexpectantly when the rsw-15 popped up. I'm not even using the rsw -15 to any where close to it's potential due to room size and couple loose teeth in my head
  9. Sorry, forgot add "welcome" to the site! Stick around
  10. Easy fix. I had same thing with top pegs almost broken off when I bought my RSW-15. Just find 2 screws with heads that fit the holes in sub snugly (mine are snug and I felt a little "pop" feel when testing the fit. Just control the length to equal the bottom ones when screwing them into the grill and it works perfectly.
  11. Congrats!....a lil off topic, but consider one of these mounts for your stand. I did it for my 51 inch plasma and looks great when I can pull it out level with rc64. I think it'd look great with those towers there as well. http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_id=109&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082806&p_id=8586&seq=1&format=1#largeimage
  12. SOLD. Bill Nice!....love my Acurus a200Five...thanks to you Bill and your excellent review and advice on Acurus amps
  13. Thanks Mark, I am planning on getting the Dual 1019 I have restored and replace the Dual1011 that's in it. I have a Marantz I can put in bottom shelf after getting it cleaned and back to spec (but runs fine right now). The reel to reel I have no idea about, so once I buy it I'll do the homework on the model. I have some rough looking rb61's that need new woofers and thought I can place them in speaker area for a nice little bedroom set up.
  14. I have someone very close to me that is offerring this console for 150.00. I have a Dual 1019 and a Marantz 2225 that I would think be nice to replace the dual 1110 and old tuner in it for my bedroom. I know nothing of reel to reel and would remove that for storage purposes. Does it sound like a reasonable plan? or anyone thinking its not worth effort. I haven't seen it in person yet, but the person seeling states it's in excellent condition (just not sure of condition of equipment inside but will replace anyways. any thoughts? Thanks
  15. Williand made me a "fan boy" too! I bought a local A200x5 after chatting with him when he was selling his. Best decision I made as I love it !
