  1. I'm fairly convinced now if you don't have Heritage or Reference your considerd dog meat here. How about a separate forum for for Icon or Synergy users?
  2. Just a spur of the moment pic.....yeah, the wires are a mess. Playing around with these XF-48's and XL-23....
  3. I've had the WF-35's for about 6 months and they are really great for my listening environment and preference, plus they look like a million bucks, so should satisfy the WAF. I don't always use a sub, but YMMV. I recently bought XF-48's and although they are a different animal, I'm currently liking them more than the WF-35's. The XF-48's are really discounted now, I had been curious about them and couldn't pass up the price. In fact I went ahead and bought a a XL-23 Center and have XB-10 surrounds on order to build another smallish HT system. I've also been curious about the F-2's but have enough newer stuff to play around with for a while. Just some thoughts...
  4. I'll sign up.........Euless, TX 76040 Mark
  5. What is the horizontal length of this speaker without the stand? The cut sheet indicates 26.3” (66.7cm) including removable table stand, so I'm estimating maybe 22", but just wanted to know. Thanks
  6. You should be able to do that if the AVR Audio Outputs on your rear panel provide variable audio output. Look at the user manual and see what is says about the audio outputs. My user manual says this: AUDIO TO HI-FI Output These jacks provide variable audio output to a separate stereo amplifier. With this connection, the audio to the stereo can be controlled by the television’s main volume. Just use a standard RCA interconnect from the R TV output to the line in on one xf-48, and do the same thing for the L channel. I got my xf-48's today and will be experimenting with them this coming weekend.
  7. I hardly ever watch TV but did pick up again on 24 this season. I missed last weeks episode and don't have a DVR thing, so will need to catch up before the next episode. A friend sent a link I may be able to replay.
  8. Thanks Bill, Yes, I've read most of the threads about this today. What I don't understand really isn't related to the speaker, it's how pre-outs work in general. Colter posted this in the thread you mentioned: If you hook them up to a surround sound receiver, you can use the PRE-OUTs from the receiver for the main channels, utilize the XF48's internal bi-amps, and preserve your receiver's wattage and power supply for your center and surround speakers. So does this mean once the speakers are connected to the R and L pre-outs, it's pretty much seamless from a control standpoint? Maybe it depends on the receiver, I have no idea. I'd like think once the speakers are connected through the pre-outs, it would be just as if they were connected through the receivers speaker binding posts. Thanks
  9. I'm curious about these and had some questions if anyone might be able to comment: 1. Can the speaker outputs from a TV be used as input to the 48's? Does the TV's output signal have to be anything special for the 48? 2. I've never used pre outputs on my AVR so don't really understand how it works. If I connected to the speakers using the R and L pre-outs, does the receiver still have control as if I connected the speakers as conventional main R and L? I'm probably not asking this right, so do the R and L pre-outs still work in tandem with the center and surrounds connected to their respective binding posts? 3. Can anyone comment on reliability? The amp sections have a 2 year warranty. My concern would be that if the amp dies the speaker dies. I'd probably only use them for casual weekends anyway, so not daily use. Thanks Mark
  10. Sure, got mine from Amazon, $79.50 with free shipping...
  11. Got mine yesterday and will play around with it this weekend. As far as the taller feet option, what are some people using? I was gonna wander around the Home Depot parts bins and see if anything looks right. Maybe those plastic washer things....."bushings"? A cylinder kind of thing that will fit the recess of the stock feet.
  12. I always try to have them and in fact got back from the store earlier with mine, always try to get fresh ones. My recipe is simple - just the peas, chopped onions, chopped garlic, jalapenos, and some type of meat, usually bacon strips or some type of sausage. And cornbread muffins to dip with.
  13. Thanks for the link, it was a good discussion. I may get one of these to fiddle around with. summer, I think you might live in the DFW area. If so, are there any stations you particularly enjoy with this tuner? I've seen the local station guide and usually don't listen to those stations, but would give it a shot if the improvements are noticeable. I guess for the price it's worth a try. Thanks, Mark
  14. Wish I could have seen it, left Love field Thursday about 11:00 am, glad ya'll got to see it. Come back from San Antonio Sunday afternoon, so there should still be some at my house where the sun don't shine this time of year...
  15. Thanks all for the comments, just wanted some previous experience and the real world examples you provided. It really doesn't fit my application considering I only use the dishwasher 1-2 times a week, 2-3 loads of laundry a week, and ??? showers a week, and none of the three ever at the same time. Thanks again.
  16. I'm looking to replace my current gas tank heater and wondered if any of you have experience or comments. I've read that some installs require larger gas lines and venting, but don't know if that's a manufacturer requirement or local code requirement. The current tank is in a kitchen closet (I know, it's weird) and I was thinking a tankless could mount on the inside wall and free up some space for storage. It's just me in a small home with occasional guests, so running out of hot water has never been a problem, it's just something I was considering. Any pro's or cons's? Thanks, Mark

  18. I can't comment on the 3490 specifically, but I'm currently using the 3480 for my LaScalas and agree with wuzzers comments on that amp. I also use an AVR210 for my W-35's afer getting out of home theater. I'm a fairly casual listener, but do like the HK products.
  19. I don't have a pic of them together, but these are mine...
  20. I will eventually get a set but had the same question Dennie did. I'm just not gettin' the stereo vs. mono difference. Other than what I think is obvious, what is the difference? I've honestly struggled with this.
  21. TheEvan..........I think it is Kevin in Lafayette who goes by "kharmondds".........
  22. I am using this, it was faster to find the link than dust mine off....[:|]....I didn't pay the current price listed... http://www.boltz.com/LP-Record-Storage-Rack-2-Shelves-3612-2.html EDIT ..............sorry, after I posted I realized you were just looking for Ikea photos...........
