  1. THese are obviously big puppies. Two 15s, a 12, and the horns. Nice shot of the veneer:
  2. Here is the grills off the pair he fixed:
  3. Colter, I just saw a cool fix on the LansingHeritage forums. One of the members has some cabinets with some mashed edges. He used a router and cut a rabbet along the edge. He then glued in a new piece of hardwood ply, sanded smooth and then put veneer over it all. He said it was easier than building up the edges with bondo or other filler material. Bruce
  4. John, Actually using my sons old version of TrueSpace ver. 4.3. I have an exploded view of the LS I posted some time ago, with bitmap laid over it. Colter LOVED it. Attached a lower res version again. The one good thing with putting the base underneath is that it will then raise the horns up more to ear level too. Bruce
  5. Picky, Weird, I have downloaded it from two different locations and it is over 60 meg. Glad you liked it. Bruce
  6. Chris, I'm curious as to why you would sell the KHorns and keep the Speakerlab cabinets. Do you like them better? I want to follow your thinking on this. The Klipsches are beautiful. Bruce
  7. John, That was one of my drawings. djk came up with this mod. Beolow are some links to more info, but you'll have to wade through the material. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/259794/ShowPost.aspx http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/3/513170/ShowPost.aspx#513170 Basically, if you want the box under the LS, it can be 10" tall. The ports are 4" pvc, available from HD, etc. and 10" long. Some have shortened the ports to about 7". This is totally removable (obviously), but if you like it, you can close in the back of the top section of the LS and put the ports on the back. Open up the top of the doghouse (use a router with a flush cut bit) Bruce
  8. You know someone is going to ask how much? I love my Heresys. I will not sell them, but then I am now in a position where I don't have to sell off any gear I buy. Bruce
  9. artto, Not really confused. Mostly playin' with Dana over this. Bob Heil is mostly into making microphones these days. A church I belonged to in the late '70s had a power amp that was a Heil (same logo as Bob Heil's company). It was so noisy with the fans that we had it mounted in another room. But... I'm glad you knew the difference too! [6] Bruce
  10. Is that an orange juice can you spray painted black, located between the choke and the power transformer? [] Very neat job, as usual Craig. Bruce
  11. Picky, Great to have someone over who appreciates the system. Knowing you do video editing, download the film Climb Dance, an award winning film from 89 about a Pike's Peak rally race. It's only a 320x240 video, but the editing it great. You'll like it. http://www.geocities.com/nosro/climbdance/ The links to download are at the bottom of the page. If I remember corerectly, the first link is no good. It's also about 70 meg, but well worth the rush of watching this film. Bruce
  12. Tom, I didn't realize until now, just where you live. My best friend worked at a state historic site in Midway for a few years, ended up working at the museum at Ft. Stewart, and is now up in Pennsylvania. My wife has relatives over in Ludowici. We haven't been that way in years though. Pretty neat area down there, even if it is flat. The theater is looking awesome! Just my take, but I think I would have made the back of your 'rack' a door. Then you could look at all the wiring and how it's plugged in without pulling out the equipment. Bruce
  13. Hey Duke, What is the high freq. driver in the Model 19? I'm looking at some 902s, which look pretty good to me. Since I don't play that ear splitting stuff I think they should be able to handle it. Bruce
  14. They are using something in the design, with a catalyst or something to counteract the ozone generation. I can't remember exactly what it is they are doing now, but they say you can even sleep in the same room with it. And you can buy them in the U.S.
  15. Actually, since you were talking about Heil, here is a shot of the Who at Madison Square Garden in June of '74, with Bob Heil speakers on the left side (white horns):
  16. I think you should try this ion tweeter on one of your systems. No moving parts, other than the arc, and that isn't really a 'part'. ACAPELLA ION TW 1S (Ionic Tweeter) The Acapella ion tweeter Ion TW 1 S is a perfected and sophisticated loudspeaker chassis, whose exceptional performance and qualities can only be enjoyed completely if used properly. It was designed to reproduce the harmonics of the music as detailed as possible. To reach this goal, a design with the smallest possible mass had to be developed. Relative to its function the Acapella ion tweeter has no mass! To carry out this project, a very unusual kind of design had to be created. High voltage within the unit produces a constant arc. This arc is modulated with the musical signal (flame oscillates with the time of the music). This is the reason why the number of electrons within the arc varies. A larger or smaller amount of electrons requires similar space. Due to this variable need of space the surrounding air molecules have to dodge the more or less quickly. This evasive action or bumping of the air molecules generates over-, resp. underpressure and, therefore, sound. In this way, the Acapella ion tweeter is able to reproduce sound without membrane and without mass Regarding transient capabilities and phase stiffness, the obtained sound quality cannot be realised by using conventional tweeters. Comparing the ion tweeter with other tweeter systems, its unobstrusive sound image will attract you. This kind of reproduction is to be attributed to the lack of harmonic and transient distortions. Technical data Sensitivity (aktive Tweeter): 1,5Volt / 0 dB Impedance: 600 Ohm Sound pressure level: max. 110 dB - 1 m / 1ms Slope Input filter: approx. 12dB/octave Frequency response: 5kHz - >50kHz (variable crossover frequencies ) Mains voltage: 234 Volt / 50 Hz Standard Optional 110 -, 117 -, 227 Volt / 50 - 60 Hz Dimensions H x W x D: 150 x 300 x 260 mm Weight: 15 kg
  17. Never understood the earring thing, and I know one very hot chick with a tattoo. Plus she's very smart and young enough to be my daughter.
  18. If it's water spots, they are moving around. I'm also for the lens flare. Plus, I've never seen them take the shape of the shutter leaves. They are usually light reflected back off of one of the lens elements, the position of which can change depending on the zoom setting as well. I shot more 16mm film than I would like to remember, with a 12-120 zoom. Or a 9.5-57, depending on which camera I was using. Bruce
  19. It looks like a cheap ungar iron. The rest is pretty handy IF you work on PC boards (printed circuit, not personal computer, although, they could be one in the same....). The board clamps allow you to position the board any way you need it to do work on it. Bruce btw, did you come up with any other info on the H/K SS amp you picked up?
  20. I really grieves me when someone thinks the Heresys are too large a speaker. Since they are almost an exact match sizewise to my JBL 4311s, I should be more than pleased that my wife allowed me to buy them new in 1972. Well, she is the best wife ever. [] I don't even think LaScalas are THAT big anymore, even though I don't have any.
  21. There is a boatload of 2445Js on ebay right now. Those are like 35 pound apiece. Bruce
  22. The voice coil on the individual drivers are what determines the impedance. My HIIs are 8 ohms as a system. I haven't even checked the individual drivers. Different values between the tweeter, mid and woofer can be accomodated for in the crossover design, i.e., you could have an 8 ohm woofer, 16 ohm mid and 8 ohm tweer. The final cabinet could be 8 ohms. The replacement parts from Klipsch are fine. You can also order so parts from Bob Crites, here on the forum. I'm not sure what he has for the Heresys. Bruce
  23. I knew there was a reason we had moved from Wisc. to Georgia. [] Still, there is something really beautiful about being out in the snow like that. Sometimes I really miss it. Bruce
