  1. Darn I don't own any heritage and I was hoping I was considered a part of the forum if not still a novice.. hmm have to rectify this heritage requirement this weekend I think cause I need to have my place on the forum too! I’ll get my check book ready for those lascalas
  2. I'm trying I meet up with him this weekend to potentially buy his 3 lascalas and if I do coup hold he 3rd one for you as I just want a 2 channel setup.
  3. Not trying to talk you ink getting rid of the 83s but, as much ad I lived them I find my thx kl650s much much more detailed than the 83s. The thx speakers aren't bright whatsoever though and I find them very neutral I'd deeply consider 3 lascalas if you are getting that much more detail. I know I loved my 83s but I wouldn't swap back and like my more detailed speakers as well. You could always grab the 3rd lascala from billy if need be.
  4. Super jealous wish my wife wanted khorns
  5. I went with youth’s suggestion when I built my theater and decided on surrounds instead of bookshelves for my surround backs (also for my side surrounds) I have also had the RS52s, RS62s and RS52iis and you will be fine with the RS52s. my surround backs are very close to my main LP as well and benefit more from the Wide dispersion. It will bring sound behind you and around your rear listening position without being from a focused spot. Id hands down go with these and skip the bookshelves. Again the 52s will work just fine but the 62iis match even better with the RF7iis and were designed with them as a set. Youth and I both went from 52s to 62s in the past. Hope this helps but you are going to have a very nice sounding setup with your new speakers congrats.
  6. This is definitely one of the more respectable forums out there and my favorite. I use other forums as well for information on different equipment etc but this one even through it's bad times seems more like a small family. We fight and argue but ultimately circle back to whats important and help each other learn. I don't think this was a bad thread at all and ended well.
  7. O and I guess coming over for an audition is out :$
  8. ARC Is not a first time users simple solution to great audio. It takes a bit of reading and research to figure out and you have to adjust target windows and such on the laptop with arc before uploading it to the pre/amp or in your case the avr. It sound like it is his first foray into the upper end receiver world and may be the reason behind not having the adjustments made correctly. I have always had decent audio with my past few avrs but I can say that arc created a completely crystal clear precise arry of sound in my room. I loved and will rave about my old elite receiver and wouldn’t dissuade you from looking into other avrs (it would be best if you could audition some before buying but sometimes isn’t always the case.) that being said I prefere the sound I have now with the results from arc. I had to make a few adjustments before uploading the data as I wanted my xo set to 80 and arc recommended setting them to 65 on my mains. I also used the lfe and sub trim to add a touch more bass but the speakers themselves I left completely to arcs recommended setting and couldn’t be happier. For people that want warmer sound and not such a neutral tone they can adjust the gain on the target window also which allows for a warmer soundstage. My elite brought a much warmer sound than my Denon or onkyo etc avrs but I prefer the anthem sound the best. He may not care for the sound but I can say there is no lack of bass when using arc esp. properly. Where are you located Kain?
  9. I don't own an mrx so Ivan comment on the fans but I doubt you will hear them. My old pioneer elite sc55 had a fan that ran and I never heard it. It will power your 5.1 speakers with ease as they are efficient and of course the mrx has pre outs with the possibility to add separate amplification later on if you so wish.
  10. Read extensively On these MRX receivers I don’t use one but wouldn’t hesitate to buy one. I use the D2v one of anthems higher end Pre-amps and can’t praise the audio quality enough. I am sure that their receivers follow suit with similar quality and a great neutral sound. Arc will create the best targeted flat response in your room bar none! Their customer services is also excellent. I called a few months back to order a knob for my D1 processor and they sent it for free instead of charging me 30 dollars and called me on my cell to let me know it shipped out
  11. Grab the mrx you won't look back. Anthems arc is incredible to say the least.
  12. I know we have different subwoofer setups of course the way mine is setup is on the back of my Anthem Pre amp there are 2 sub out RCA and XLR connections. I use the RCA analog outs and both of my Sub-3 cables were factor terminated with a Y connector made from audioquest and then each has the 72dbs kit and a ground tail on each end. My KA-1000 amps have a Left and Right RCA in of course which I connect one sub out of the pre to each sub in on the amp and the ground tail on each amp. Then my amps have two sub outs via Speakon cables to the passive KW-120s so I know our sub layouts are different as I don’t use y splitters to add subs but adding the ground may help you mate.
  13. I noticed a very small hum with my 2 subwoofer amps during my initial install last year. I use the Sub-3 Audioquest with AQ y connectors into each amp and they come with a ground tail which when I attached to one of the amps completely makes them silent. I would think something small like this maybe running a small wire to ground them could help? I hope you get it fixed today.
  14. Hats off to you my friend indeed. I had a kg surround sound system at about 20 years of age. I never new klipsch even had another speaker other than the kg.5 at that point. Wow i cannot count the times i went through speakers nib...I really cannot, only to fall back on what i knew worked The Kg .5(i have to LOL at myself). Now 20 years later i have found the holy grail in audio. If you are 26 like your stats state..very nice to see you with a great start. I see you in a venture that as like what youthman is taking at the moment and indulging with heritage or the like with klipsch. Especially if you get the music tingle in your ear hairs. Cheers! ill be 28 next month and trust me I'd have two vintage khorns in my living room if my wife approved but for now the rf7iis will remain. I would guess it will be easier to get palladiums cosmetic wise she thinks they are nicer looking but I plan to get at least two heritage speakers for my garage 2 channel setup tho summer. Maybe some Cornwallis. Going to epoxy my floor then it will be ready.
  15. I feel that Michael is probably one of the better members to give us an honest review on dean’s work. Some of us have no problem with being brutally honest and some of us are reserved with what we truly think and feel. I have read several of Michael’s reviews over time and if you were to bring up his comparison over the RF-83s, RF-7s and RF-7iis he was quite upfront and honest on each and every piece explaining what he thought was good or not on each product. He didn’t rave on how the RF-7iis were the best of the 3 being that they were the newest revolutionary reference speaker from Klipsch. He had no problem pointing out that the original RF-7s are a very bright speaker and can be fatiguing to listen to, or that the 83s were a very laid back and don’t provide the upfront in your face sound that both the RF-7 and RF-7iis provide. I feel he has given a good honest input so far and just has been busy and unable to spend a lot more time with them. I understand that part of the point in this argument was that the bias would be because he received the work done for free and feel obligated to post greatness on them but for the cost that he paid for the entire RF-7II package deal he found on craigslist he might as well of gotten them for damn free at that price and could have posted that they were a must buy for all klipschonites. The thread got to off topic and I look forward to hearing some final thoughts later in the week on if he enjoys the new sound dean’s XO’s brought to an already incredible speaker and think Michael has given a more honest review than some could.
  16. A circus train as there are clearly elephants on the loose. Sorry had to say it
  17. I’m far from an audiophile though esp when it comes to music listening and or say a quality 2 channel setup with some heritage speakers and nice tube setup would be something id love to get into in the future. Im more of a casual listener when it comes to music. When I watch film I find myself to be much more critical over what is being represented and how it is appropriately playing the way a director intended it to be enjoyed. More often than not if a film was done in mono or has mono tracks, or stereo tracks etc I prefer to watch it that way but I certainly enjoy popping in a modern mixed blu-ray. I have a lot to learn in 2 channel listening and read the posts in 2 channel all the time
  18. Yeah I have no opinion on the audio quality I just rarely watch concerts on dvd or listen to anything like SACDs. I am certain they have a great quality to them. I use my RF-7iis for 2 channel listening but they are setup by themselves down in the living room with no dvd or bluray player attached to the system just a DAC and my music files on a hard drive. If I were to watch concert dvd or listen to a SACD it would have to be in my theater and the THX ultra’s aren’t the greatest sounding musical speakers. For movies though although watching them on 2 channels brings a neat audible experience in it’s own right, 7.4 speakers all working together is surreal and brings an immersive experience I don’t think I could get from just using my 2 channel setup. Then again I’m more of a film person than a music person and could see how the argument could go both ways for someone’s desired setup.
  19. I got the bluray out and sat down Sunday evening around 930 and me and my wife both decided it was to long to start that late before work on Monday. She wanted to watch the amazing Spiderman (new version) before going to see part 2 in the theater so we watched that. Some nice audible moments but not what I was in the mood to watch. We are going to watch it on Wed night though. I did pop in the bluray and I like the look of the film already. Lots of nice film grain and an great cinematic feel to it. The first scene alone had some unique and interesting sounds with the ship creaking and people walking around etc. Can’t wait for tomorrow night.
  20. Maybe something in equalization. I definitely get deep bass from mine that slam (not like a couple of huge subs) but still slam. I use a P2 with mine which does have an abundance of power but if you want some deep low end the Aragon 4004 MkII is a great amp for this. They are cheap too and can be found on agon or ebay pretty often.
