  1. Starting to form looks excellent. While you have it in its raw stage id suggest adding a few dedicated circuits for future upgrades. The bar will be an awesome addition!
  2. To be honest neither of the two rooms had any terminates in them and i know above and beyond everything that is one of the most import things. I spent months researching and treating my room appropriately during my build for my theater. The first setup used two Krell amps but with a yamaha AVR and i'll be the first to say I'm not a yamaha fanboy at all. The second setup used a Macintosh tube pre and Macintosh 2 channel amp. He also did a side by side comparison with the P39s and the Lascalas i purchased. I preferred the lascars for music but we didn't do any movie testing. Im not sure of any equalizing he did but Im a strong believer of equalizing any setup and treating its environment.
  3. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Seriously? You ask for our advice then you order 3 KL650's? Just messin with ya. I haven't heard the Ultra2 setup but have always heard excellent comments for HT. MichaelandKlipsch owns that setup and loves it for movies but misses his RF-83's for music. Let us know your thoughts once you get them to their new home and installed. Oh yeah, we love pics too. The only speakers i regret selling were my 83s.
  4. Price is excellent for those and you will be happy. They are wonderful speakers and my personal favorite from Klipsch. You can always later on down the road get a nice 2channel setup with different speakers (rf-63s) come to mind or heritage if you have the space. Youth eventually you will make it to Chareleston and hear the THX ultra 2 speakers with the JTR subwoofers!
  5. Well i want to jump in on this subject for just another opinion. I have heard the P39s in two very dramatically different setups. The first time i heard them was on a poorly setup system in Tampa florida when i sold my 4 THX ultra two subwoofers to someone who had the P-39s setup with a Yamaha AVR. they didn't sound nearly as impressive as i would have thought for the price tag they carry. I listened to them with another good friend on the forum who also agreed. That being said i took the opportunity when i purchased my Lascars to listen to them from a forum member who had them setup properly with very expensive Macintosh gear. My thoughts are that they sounded about 80% better than my previous listening environment. The Palladiums have their place and outshine most of all the speakers i have heard across the board from different companies in that price range, but that being said they in my opinion only are not Klipsch's crown jewel. They are by far the most beautiful speaker they make and a lot of time and engineering went into these for sure and if they were for the right price/deal yeah they are worth picking up but i feel for certain environment and purposes different speakers are made by our beloved company for different reasons. The Cinema speakers of course probably have some of the largest and most effortless powerful big sound that represent movie soundtracks and music very accurately. Why shouldn't they they are enormous speakers that are used behind gigantic screens in commercial cinemas that are out of sight from viewers. They are not aesthetically pleasing and are meant to bring beautiful accurate sound from behind screens. Even the THX ultra 2 system that i use in my private cinema are nothing to look at but Black boxes which i also hide behind my theater screen. The heritage line which i feel mixes some of that huge sound from the cinema line with some nice aesthetics are some of my favorite sounding speakers Klipsch offers but also are very large and hard to place in an every day environment if you own say Khorns, lascalas, or anything of that sort. I think your interest and purchase of the P39s was a good one. They are not within reach of some members and will bring very nice sound both for movies and music to your home theater and be probably the best looking speakers you will own from Klipsch. If you were building a theater that had a enormous wall to hide commercial speakers behind sure then you could try other options. The Jubs are something i would love love love to listen to for a very long demo and have my mind blown for a few hours but i'll admit i wouldn't plan to purchase those speakers and bring them into my home because of their size and appearance. None of what I'm saying is meant to be offensive in any way just another honest opinion on what i have heard. For movie theater like sound over even the heritage line i still prefer the THX ultra 2 KL-650s behind my screen paired with my anthem amps and the only upgrade for that type of sound i could think of after hearing so many different klipsch speakers would be the pro line if there were an enormous room with a false wall for them to hide behind. For music it would still be the Heritage line with their large cabinets and silky smooth highs/accurate mids. I think you made a good decision on your P39s and to the OP for $1200 i would pick up that center in a heart beat and if i didn't like it sell it in your situation. I don't think Scrappy meant anything bad he is just giving you an honest opinion that yes i admit has truth to it because some of the other speakers from Klipsch sound better than their Palladium line. He is someone who's opinion i value and i consult with when making purchases etc and although sometimes he can be direct with what he tells you he is telling you from his honest two ears. We all on here for the most part consult with each other for good reason.
  6. The pre amp usually is set around -8 db to -4db I don't run my new subs hot though way way to powerful. I used to bump my THX ultra subs up 6 db but not with my JTRs
  7. The only thing is they need power to deliver movie theater like sound and believe me they do only klipsch speaker I have never wanted to sell. if I had to it would be pro cinema other wise they are my favorite over the refernce and heritage for movies like sound.
  8. Kl650 all the way if your movie enthusiast. The seamless soundstage and well integrated with subs should make for a perfect experience and the center kl650 is much much better imo
  9. I use KS525 as sides and rears flush mounted and I like it better than direct radiating
  10. Wouldn't that be the case anywhere you move them to? I thought the boominess was caused by the boundary gain from the corners.Michael, you could put your subs in your basement and still yield great bass in your HT upstairs. Haha point taken
  11. Michael my subs are also off of the floor my recessed shelf was built with a header and footer her but there is almost no difference with having them off the ground and my situation you might be able to try it before the wall is under construction I would think ideally having them there would be nice I'm very happy with my captivators lifted off the ground room correction has everything tight as a pin where bass is concerned
  12. I have yet to see wake's builds in person but what I have seen in terms of photos is always professional!
  13. I have not seen this particular curved plasma but I seriously doubt it would contend with the other plasmas
  14. I am sincerely more into the projector side of cinema entertainment in my home but I can say without a doubt that for the most cinematic experience and picture quality from television sets the Pioneer elite Kuros were the most stunning I still own an elite 70 inch LED over my fireplace and it doesn't hold a candle to my 60 inch pioneerelite kuri pro 151. The Panasonic plasmas are also up there in terms of amazing cinematic picture qualityThe bright and vivid picture quality that these new LEDs display may be attractive to the untrained eye but after I did set has been calibrated they pale in comparison to the old plasmas. One thing that may add that I believe is a beneficial aspect is the clarity and sharpness but not that accurate in color.
  15. Being patient is the best option. I get crap a lot about not having something up and running by people and my wife included but I have been patient the last year while making the massive upgrade first with the 4 18" subs and then the recessed shelf, then the AT screen and finally the anamorphic lens. When it was all said and done I still had to wait on some electrical and then I had to go all OCD and make sure it was all done to perfection and you know what Youth? I'm glad I did. It turned out to be what I really envisioned when I started the project this year of upgrading and It had made me even more patient. Me and you are a lot alike in this regard.
  16. I asked the wife for a Nikon camera for Xmas mike
  17. Just a quick snap of a movie. I will attempt to take a better photo.
  18. The panamorph UH480 has arrived, time to mount up and see how the picture looks. I will now remove my jaw of the floor to write this short review on the lens. The motorized Sled will be an addition later on as they tend to be almost as costly as the darn lens. The lens itself is nothing more than a precision cut piece of glass but it definitely has a ton of engineering put into it. It weighs nearly 20lbs and feels like you are holding a solid piece of steel. I have placed it just in front of the projector itself to see how it works with The JVC's anamorphic mode engaged. It is nothing less than spectacular. The image at 163" is as crystal clear as an LED tv and i can definitely notice a brighter sharper image with the lens in place. It will have to be mounted to the Harness/plate that mounts to the projector over the weekend. This is the first time i have actually had an image displayed on the entire screen and it is simply stunning! I seriously have no desire to go to work tomorrow and wish i could finish the installation but that will have to wait. Going to run ARC and do some tests this weekend and make a few tweaks. I will take some panoromic views of the theater soon as well. Here are a few pics of the unboxing and just a quick shot of the lens and JVC paired together on the screen.
  19. Now the Black Boxes are hidden buy a long white rectangle...
  20. I'm sorry I did the review with and/or by my voice through my computer
  21. Fellas gentleman I apologize I for some reason posted the review and thought it posted and came back and realize that it never did I will retype this now okay first off the build quality on the dual JTR subwoofers is on par and equal in my opinion to any other subwoofer I have purchased now to be fair they do have a more rigid rugged cabinet enclosure that is more likely to appear as a commercial style cabinet rather then the beautiful wood veneer that some of us used or are used to they have a simplicity about them but that doesn't bother me whatsoever the option to get beautiful finishes if these were to be in someone's living roomare available upon request I originally thought of getting these in piano gloss black but decided against it as they would be behind my curtain in this theater as well as any other theater in the future if we decided to move that being said you can tell that the wood is made out of Birchwood and the cabinet with the drivers is extraordinarily heavy he's had to make a trip up three flights of stairs to the fourth floor in our home where the theater is locatedThe high excursion drivers are definitely a nice component to see and the amplifier is a 4000 W plate amp with capabilities of 7200 W peaksas you can see in my build thread I purchased two of these JT our subway for us to even out room response and to ensure each of the four seats in my theater would receive the same impact these should deliver the customer service was phenomenal and the only disappointment I had was the long wait to receive them as it took a little over 6 1/2 almost 7 weeks from the date of purchasethat being said during this time communication was always something that was easy with this company now that I have them properly installed and everything has been adjusted through my anthem room correction software I have finally tested them out both subtly with my normal viewing andon occasion I have increased the decibels by -6 on the trim to see how 18s would feel over my four slot ported subwoofer as I used to ownThe main reason for my new build with having an acoustically transparent screen was because of the Sears size of the subwoofers they were so large in my theater that they started to look a little obtrusive and I decided to finally go ahead and place them behind the screen along with my LCR to have everything out of sight and pray have a more presentable clean look that you would if you were to enter any commercial theater todayI took detailed photographs of the on boxing lifting and placement before and after the build took place so that I could look at them if I wanted to without removing the screen again these are really just gigantic large heavy black boxes so I don't know that I would necessarily need to stare at them and beauty the SVS PB 13 ultra subwoofer in gloss piano black is surely a much more beautiful subwoofer to behold but that's not why we are in this hobbynow onto the review of the audio performance this will have to be my first time ever hearing or feeling 18 inch drivers in my room so I don't have much to compare them with except for my past subwoofers I have over the last two years praised the klipsch ultra two subwoofers for that movie theater feeling base in the 20 to 30 Hz range that I experienced with all four slot ports gushing out tons of air during action sequences during movies and to this day I still am astounded at how good they were and I never knew what I was lacking until installing these JTRs. These are capable of down to 5 Hz code located behind my screen I can definitely say that I've never experienced that before it is kind of like the sound and feel you get when taking off in an airplane and you have that cabin pressurized Felling you get when lifting off the ground in a plane it is a surreal experience that a movie theater simply cannot provide that I have been in. Now after using these for quite a while through six different films I have definitely increase the volume to near reference levels with the trim on the subwoofers at 6 dB higher than what anthem sets my other speakers at and that's when these speakers really show their colors the amount of pressure power and low frequencies that come out of theseSubway for us is hard to put into words normally I would have never felt the need for increasing my subs but one day I had a long conversation with Steven and he persuaded me to move into the 18 inch sub woofer are playing ground and I have to say now that I am happy that I have done sohe is very accurate with what he has said and asking me over the last several months about when I would finally test them out but it took me a while to have the complete bill done in my theater with the contractors before I can actually run power to them since they do not have a normal three prong power cord and instead use a speakon connector port. in order for me to properly install these in my theater I had to have my electrician install additional 30 amp circuits one per subway for so that I don't trip breakers when I call upon them to impressof the four films I have really tested them out with they continue to make watching movies as exciting as ever and I feel very comfortable in saying that they are my favorite piece of equipment in my theater. When you step inside of course the screen size and presence is the first thing people would notice and talk about but I have to say after the movie starts The audio quality in the room more specifically from these subs has the most impactful impression. I have taken quite a journey through subwoofers and home theater in general since I started in this hobby beginning with a 50 W 180 W peak Sony subwoofer to these dual J TR captivator s2s. If there were one portion to really write home about in my theater it would be the addition of these 18 inch subs I'm looking forward to letting Youthman and wake junkie hear them when they visit. Again I am sorry that the original post failed to upload. In a nutshell the build quality customer service and performance on the sub woofer's are in my opinion excellent. I would think you would have to venture into a Myers theater to get better performance out of subwoofers.
  22. 7.1 is fine for 2 subs. Just get a RCA "Y" splitter looking to get 2 rw12's.....yes? or go with 10's? No......great value but go bigger and better! Look at SVS, PSA, HSU, just to name a few...or DIY i have a chance to get 2 klipsch thx ultra subs and the amp for 2k....just hate dishing out that much right now bu hate to lose out on a deal while the thx subs are good i think there are better subs out there for sure. and its really not that great of a deal anyways. i sold my pair a while back for 1500 and they took a while to sell at that price. you asked about the bic pl-200. I've owned those as well and you can get them for crazy cheap. I've seen people getting them new for 220 a piece when bought a couple at a time. NOW, they are a lot of sub for that amount of money, HOWEVER, they are still a budget sub. so they don't go crazy low, and they are not gonna be the cleanest sounding sub ever. but for the money i don't think they can be beat. so if your budget is low, then have at em. you may love them and never want more. i have a buddy who bought my first rf-63 setup and he has a pair of them and just loves them. also look into outlaw audio subs. they are on clearance right now for black friday. think the ex at 599 might be one of the better deals right now. or get a pair of the 449 one. sorry not real familiar with their model numbers like i am with other companies.
  23. Still giving me crap about my cables ay? LoL I still have my audioquest speaker cables because they run through my walls to my speakers but I sold most of them and switched to monoprice xlr and totally happy with them. I wouldn't put money towards copper again just as long as it is thick enough awg. Live and learn that's all. Monoprice makes excellent quality cables etc.
