  1. No Disc, What is the purpose of the Ring Clamp? Does it clamp the LP or just act as a flywheel? Rigma
  2. Al, I am up for it if would consider it. I have an oscilloscope, signal generator, and real time analyzer with direct input, to assist in placement if that helps.
  3. Al, Sorry I was not as clear as I should have been. I do have an active (2-way) crossover set at 400hz. What I would like to do for now is to use your extreme slope for the crossover between the mid and tweeter only, say at around 5800hz
  4. Al, I currently have your DIY ALK's Bi-Amped on Klipschorns and am interested in building your Extreme slope crossovers to use in Bi-Amp config. I use the stock K-401 midrange and JBL 2404H tweeter. Is that possible? If so would you mind in sharing the schematic with me? Also I would like to have the capability to use it as a 3 way crossover in the future by adding the 400Hz point.

  11. What do you guys think about these labels? They appear to be high quality recordings. Command Audio Fidelity Project 3 London phase4stereo Allen, what do you know about these. I just purchased about 600 of them from a widow of a compulsive audio nut. They are in near mint condition. She said he played them once to record to Reel to Reel tape. I also bought the 1000 or so recorded tapes all meticuously documented as to what is on each. I also got (1) Empire 880SE, (4) 888TE, (1) 200E/X(NOS) (1)2000E/III(NOS) Cartridges as part of the deal Any comment on these. I have a mmf-5 TT, are any of these a good match?
  12. If I turn off my Crown amp via a switch on a power strip I get a loud thump. Using the amp switch, no thump. Question is could I add a capacitor across power cord to stop this as Erik mentioned about the switch?
  13. I use Klipschorns for L&R front, LaScala for center and rear surronds and it sounds awesome!
  14. Yea Craig, I know this is a tough one. I will have to look at this stuff and make a decision on the spot and am just trying to get and idea of things I would not recognize that may be valuable. See my equipment list below. I am familiar with these tubes but not much else. rigma
  15. PLEASE HELP! I have the opportunity to buy any or all of this TV repair business which operated from the early 60's to the mid 80's. I will be looking at this either this afternoon or tomorrow. I am told it is a garage full of stuff, many boxes of tubes included. My question is which tubes or other components and equipment were used in TV repair that are useful to audio. Any items that have good value I can sell to fund my audio addiction would also be good to know. Any advice would be appreciated. rigma
  16. I only have one left, would you be interested in it?

  19. Greg, "The recordings that I enjoy listening to the most, start with a solid kick drum that has frequencies between 40 and 80 hz almost flat and a neat little snap at 5K, a snappy snare drum with a "crack" somewhere around 400hz, every note of the bass guitar finding it's own space in the low end of the mix, never mushy, and always distinct, guitar, keyboards, and horns properly mixed so that they don't overpower the vocals, cymbals that ride over the instruments with lots of air around them, never having frequencies that get into the vocal range, vocals that are clean, clear, just barely mixed out front, and believable (meaning it sounds like they're are singing with the band and not to a recording, which of course is what they are really doing). I have a limited selection of recordings that meet these standards." Can you list some of the recordings that meet these standards? I agree with the above and would like to add these type to my collection! Rigma
