Does anyone know how the La Scala got its name? I am versed in the history of the speaker, how it gained popularity, etc.... but how did it get its name!? Has it got anything to do with the opera house in Milan, Italy?

In the interim I picked up an EXTREMELY clean Akai AA-1135. It sounds very good and the price was right so it will tide me over until I can decide on the permanent fixture!

There is a couple volume numbers missing off the face, probably got rubbed off with a cleaner. As for the mellow, Im sure there is better but until I decide what model Marantz to go with this Akai will serve me very well. It runs the La Scalas easily.

Im assuming I should cover the display with some tape or something?

Its an Akai AA-1135. I imagine the windex with ammonia would be ok. I just got the receiver and thought about the wd40 since i use it for several other things and it cleans and shines! Its not a dirty receiver, just something I was pondering!

Has anyone used wd-40 to clean the faceplate of their vintage receiver? Sounds like a good idea to me, just wondering what the thoughts are on that.

Sadly all, since acquiring my La Scalas I am afraid the Quartets no longer have a place in my home. They are '89 models and perfect. I am asking $400. They look lonely and I feel bad, they need music and they need a good home! They have consecutive serial numbers. NO SHIPPING! Sorry, but the risk of damage is too high. I live in Central Arkansas and I am willing to drive a little to meet. PM if interested. Trades or trades + cash considered. Receiver in pic IS part of the deal. Nothing special, a sony STR-D611. p.s. I am looking for some smaller kg series speakers, anything from kg.5 thru the kg 2.5. Im also interested in an older, all silver receiver.
