  1. Hey Guys, The plans I used were my own. Compared to the plans Neanderthal came up with they are very close. I will put my notes together and get it down on paper. The crossover points I used were 700/7500. Why 7500 you ask? In the beginning the plans were for a 2-way. I tried several hf drivers and couldn't afford the high-end drivers(Tad,etc.). none of them seem to have any sparkle. I settled on the Selenium 405ti. Very sweet, warm mids and upper mids. So to keep as much of the mids as I could and add the sparkle I went 3-way. A JBL 2404. I wanted to try an electronic crossover, but I'm very happy with Al's ES networks. Just remember if you use ES networks, your woofers need to be at least 6 ohms for series wiring. I have a "Boo Boo" to correct. In the template description a few responses ago. The materisl used was 3/4 x 1 1/2 not 1 x 1.5. Big D
  2. Will non-symetrical wave paths be a problem?
  3. Going to rework my scale model. From the looks of it ,15's will fit.
  4. I'm trying to shoehorn 2-15's into a Jubilee bass bin. This is what I came up with. Will this work?
  5. Hi All, What effect (if any) occures when the splitter at the throat is moved farther down the wave path?
  6. Here is a pic of my unfinished Jubilees. Sorry, still haven't had to sit down and put my notes into a coherent package. Big D
  7. I picked up an M-504 at one of my local pawn shops for a song. Hooked it up to my Jubilee clones thru a Mac C-26...Man, what a great amp. If you have a chance to get one...GET IT! Big D
  8. There is one thing I have noticed. To get the full effect of the Jubilee, you have to stay within the listening field. I have mine on the short wall (about 12' apart), slightly toed in and not completely tucked in the corners. The bass get weaker as you leave the field. I have an open floor plan and walking from the listening area to the dining room makes a huge difference. Big D
  9. sunnysal, I don't have access to any real test gear, except for a rat shack meter and a test disc that only goes down to 50hz. Can anyone suggest a good test disc that goes down to at least 30hz? TO ME, the clones go as low as the Khorn. I crossed over at 700hz. Big D
  10. DRWho, To me, this is a very smooth, non-fatiquing driver. Vocals come thru as clear and natural. Pianos, horns and strings sound as if they are in the room. Keep in mind that this is an 8ohm drivers. The ALK Extreme slope networks(AL, Thank you once again) allow me to attenuate them to bring them in line with the lows and highs. My ears tell me it's a keeper. btw this thing weighs 20lbs. Big D
  11. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/532029/ShowPost.aspx This one has a few pics.
  12. Seti, It's going to be hard to do without them for the few days it's gonna take to finish them. "Did you hear a Jubilee before you decided to build?" No. I was going on the word of the few that had heard them, plus I love a good woodworking challenge. My mom saw the bass bins and said, "Well if you don't like the way they sound, you can always use them as curio cabinets." To my knowledge, no one else has built them. Parrot, Don't worry, you didn't miss much. Big D
  13. Here's the frame that needs to get covered.
  14. I should be ashamed of myself. I started these back in April and still haven't finished them. All that's left to do is cover one upper grill, stain and paint. I have been listening to them for months now. Love the way they sound. I know the jubilee was supposed to be a 2-way system, but I couldn't find a driver that went from 700hz to20khz for the right money, so i settled on a 3-way. The mid is a Selenium 405ti w/Goldwood horn(P audio knock-off). The tweeter is a JBL2404. the crossover is the ALK Extreme Slope(ES700T/7500). Here is what I have so far. Big D
  15. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=270-204 Take a look at this horn. I used it in my jubilee clones and it's half the price. Big D
  16. Here's a top view. The center portion of the cabinet would actually be narrower (by about 4 inches) than the jubilee. The mouth could be increased and still be on the same footprint.
  17. I see what your trying to do here. As far as construction, mergeing the khorn and jubilee with 2-15's looks doable. It looks to me that the cabinet would have to be raised about 6 inches and it would be slightly wider than the jubilee. I had some thoughts on the internals. Big D not to scale
  18. I've been a paint/wallpaper contractor for about 30 years. I specialize in custom papers, hand-trim,foils,grasscloth and murals. I make a comfortable living. Enough to keep me in Klipsch speakers and audio gear. Big D
  19. I used 6 sheets of 3/4 plywood. This will allow you to build 2 Jubilee bass bins and have enough left over to construct upper cabinet for the mid and tweeter. The tops and bottoms (bass bin and upper cab) will take almost 2 sheets, depending on how you orient the grain. Big D
  20. Nicely Done! Love the stain selection. You should be PROUD. Do you have a before shot? Big D
  21. swells..good to see you back! It's been a long road(for me) trying to figure out the right driver combination. I tried the altec 807 with the 511b and the 811b horns and the jbl 2426 with the same horns. Neither had the upper sparkle I was looking for. I was looking at the radian, but as you said, alittle pricey. I really wanted to maintain the original concept of a 2-way system but with the $$ I had available that wasn't going to happen. As per D-man's recommendation, I looked at the selenium drivers. The 405ti looked promising, even though it's an 8 ohm driver, the ALK ES700 allowed for some attenuation. The 405ti has a smooth response and a warm tone that appeals to me, but still didn't give me the sparkle I was looking for. So adding a tweeter seemed to be the answer(jbl 2404). I have not auditioned any of the drivers you mentioned but I'm sure someone here in the forum can give you some insight. Big D
