  1. I had a wrong understanding then, I thought when you set a speaker to large the crossover was bypassed. However, my AVR – Yamaha RX A1010 only allows a crossover for all speakers. Not separate crossovers. It was over a grand when I bought it so not a cheapie but not high-end either. Only after getting on this forum did I find out about Audyssey and MCACC. I'll have to do some experimenting this weekend
  2. I listen at pretty loud levels, I wasn't considering switching mine to Large for movies I just did not understand how it could not mess up the speakers when LFE plays
  3. So if the speakers cannot reproduce those frequencies they will do just that, not produce them? It won't cause distortion or anything like that? Those frequencies are just best handled by the sub?
  4. Ok. This is probably a rookie question, however I'am here to learn so here goes. I've read numerous posts about people setting mains to large, I even do it myself occasionally when listening to music. My question is if running mains on large on movies wouldn't the low frequencies damage my speaks? I realize it can rob an AVR of wattage pushing the drivers in the mains unnecessarily, but I have a B&K 200.7 so that should be a moot point right? My RF-7ii's are not rated to go as low as subs so how would it not damage them? Please help me with my confusion, I'm almost positive it's a dumb question but I don't want to be the kid in class not wanting to put his hand up. Thanx Fellas! And or ladies.
  5. Not sure how it will sound in your room, but when I did it in my room the soundstage sounded much wider like Scrappy says and it was probably the move that made the biggest sounding difference to me . Your cherry Rf7ii's look awesome by the way. I accidentally got sent black instead of Cherry and The dealer offered to send cherry or to give me a good discount on the black . The discount coupled with the fact that they were right there in my face and I could set them up that day was too much for me to handle :-) I wish I would've had youthman's patience that day
  6. Great price, for a great sub, from a great guy! Good luck with your sale Scott.
  7. Sorry double post was my fault. See what happens when you can't sleep at 3:30 in the morning
  8. I seen that one Carl, there is a guy in St. Louis who has a boom tomb for sale, which I'm sure is not as good as the Niles. I've also seen one called the Sub sub.
  9. When I was reading in your earlier post that there was an option for maybe some towers, I figured they were as good as sold to you! Congratulations! I have never heard them but they sure do look awesome!
  10. timdog come toMy place and find out what you may or may not be missing Scrappy that was going through my head because when I was typing that sentence. You have told me more than once to come out west a little further and give yours a listen. I really want to, and have some time off the next couple weeks that it's very tempting however I'm scared that I will like it too much!!
  11. I'm getting to this thread late in the game, but the sentiment is the same. My prayers and best wishes to you and your family Wake! It's great to hear you are on the mend after such a life altering event. Ps139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. On a lighter note, Youth you did an awesome job capturing Wakes HT and the hospitality of his family. I thought I was going to be perfectly happy with the addition of two more PB 12/2. Your description of Wakes 18s make me wonder what I am missing now. Have a safe trip back
  12. Yikes! No thanks, I'll leave them set where they are then, thank you everyone!
  13. What are the advantages or disadvantages of compression, or should I just listen to it all three ways and see what sounds best to me? Had I been missing sound by using compressed audio?
  14. That's what I set them to for the time being, was waiting for someone to respondt to confirm what I thought. Thanks youth
  15. My charter DVR in the advanced audio settings asked if I would want HEAVY,LIGHT or NONE-for compression. Also asks if I want STEREO or MATRIX for stereo output choice. Can anyone tell me which I should have these two settings set to? I had not realized these settings were even in here till tonight. The charter guy had the compression set to LIGHT and the stereo output set to MATRIX. Tried to Google it but not much info out there. Thanks for any replies.
  16. Hope you like the way they sound Scrappy, because they sure do look awful pretty!
  17. I dunno.....everyone I've met in this hobby or on this forum has been whack-o. Probably a good thing I've broken every mirror in my house so I don't have to look at a wack-o every morning. I wouldn't consider myself crazy... I CAN MAKE A BOOGER TALK!! I'm one of the sanest people I know…GARLIC MAKE MY FEET STANK!!
  18. Thanks, not sure how patient I was though, my wife might have something to say about that.
  19. Thanks Carl, I doubt they sound better than that IB But I have to have something to strive for
  20. I'm fortunate in that area, she really likes the sound unless she's upstairs in our bedroom right above me :-)
