  1. You could do like we are going to do... Make the whole wall with AT screen material and then see how big of a picture you like viewing and mask the AT screen wall with black acoustically transparent material. I figure it is better to go big now rather than later decide I want more and have to buy another screen. It is much cheaper to mod the masking panels to a smaller size if you want to go bigger.
  2. I believe the reports I have seen on the Seymour XD screen are you can be as close as 6 or 8 feet without seeing the weave.
  3. You could get a BenQ w1070... 2000 lumens. I am using one with a 134" Jamestown screen and it is great. You don't even have to have the lights completed off to watch. I am sitting in our Family room typing right now with the projector in ECO mode and over 3000 hours on the bulb and the picture still looks good.
  4. you could hinge the sides of the screen so when you lift it up you can move it forward and out. When the screen is down you would never know it was hinged on the sides.
  5. You wouldn't need to build a false wall if you make the whole wall a screen. The screen can be hung by the ceiling that swings up. So basely you lift the screen from the bottom like a brief case but all the way up. When i did mine i thought about getting a fixed screen (being they cost way less). And thats how i was going to set it up if i did go that way. If you haven't already look at some of the AT builds with a fixed frame. Some open like a door and some just come off all together. I like the idea to open it like a car hood myself. We are going to be doing our screen wall like that... 14' wide x 8' high screen wall hinged off of the ceiling for when we need to access the speaker area.
  6. Shipping may not be too bad, if... The seller is willing to deliver it to the Freight Company, and you are willing to go to the local Freight Company and pick it up. I paid AIR $175 for 2 Danley DTS-10 subs to be delivered from Arizona to Northern California. .
  7. When I bought my pair I located a 3rd in about a month.
  8. You could always make your own La Scala for the center, or maybe the person that wants to sell you 3 will sell you one.
  9. Nah, that isn't happening. I had thought about doing it in my setup but now with the JBL horns and the 1/4 pies I don't have enough room.
  10. Lol, I only could fit one in my room. Not if you used 2 for Height channels....
  11. I had about 30 minutes before work this morning and decided to do some quick A/B Comparison using a scene from The Book of Eli where they destroy the house. I've always been impressed with the detail of this scene and was curious how the LaScalas compared. From this first initial test, to my ears, the LaScalas were much brighter and more detailed than the 83's. Dialog also was more prominent. I did not use an SPL meter to make sure both A/B were at the same volume but probably will do that during my next test to try and make it as fair of a comparison as possible. Honestly, I'm very impressed with the sound of the LaScalas. Did Youthman just say that out loud? I never would have thought I would have uttered those words. I even did a very quick A/B using the 83's as mains and switching between a single LaScala for a center and the RC-64. Again, the LaScala seemed to be more pronounced and detailed than the RC-64. Again, not a totally fair comparison since the RC-64 is 8ft in the air angled downwards towards the listening area while the LaScala is on the floor straight in front of me. I'll likely have to bring the RC-64 down and place it on top of the LaScala to get a more fair comparison as well as level match them. The force is strong with this one....
  12. This is nothing like another forum I am on.... I see over 3000 posts in 6 weeks arguing back and forth over a little item. I was shocked, as it is like a war zone if you go to the thread.
  13. I set all my speakers as large.. Even the La Scalas. ;-) Why? I was told to set all speakers to small to make it easier on your AV and let the subs do what they were meant to do.
  14. I set all my speakers as small.. Even the La Scalas.
  15. I bought my first Denon in 2005 so my wife could use the Yamaha AVR for her Salon... The Yamaha dled the next year, and was replaced by the Pioneer Elite that I had been using as a 2nd AVR in our home. I also bought another Denon 2807 the following year (2006) to replace the Pioneer Elite that I had been using as a second AVR. I went until 2013 using the 2 Denons without any problems... I sold the Denon 3806 and gave the 2807 to a friend, and I purchased the 4520ci... As far as I know both Denons are still working fine )I have no idea on the Pioneer Elite though as we are no longer together.
  16. Here is a review on the Denon 4520 The reviewer sold his Onkyo 5508, XPA-3 amp, and XPA-1 monoblocks after getting the Denon and he is drive Martin Logans which are much harder to drive than Klipsch. Here is a post with the test results of it... Post #7623... Sorry, but apparently it won't allow the link to AVSForums (just go to AVSForums and go to the "The Official Denon AVR-4520ci thread and go to post # 7623 to see the test results from Sound and Vision Magazine. Here is another review... http://www.avforums.com/review/denon-avr-4520-9-channel-audio-video-receiver-review.560 I have seen not seen any reviews saying it is not excellent for audio and video.
  17. Your decision. I have heard nothing but good about the Denon (in fact I own one). I also have heard that Audyssey is better than the competition in calibrating for your room. I can't personally confirm it as I have no first hand knowledge of it. All I can say is I have owned 3 Denons, 1 Pioneer Elite and 1 Yamaha AVR and I like all of them at the time I owned them and didn't find them lacking.
  18. What about Marantz or Denon?
  19. In that case, lets not fuss about any more. Buy this And this I think you need 2 of the McIntosh amps though to get you up to 6 channels. The three meters are misleading. Its an MC205. 5 X 200 My mistake.

  21. Yeah, I paid $900 for my 3 when I got htem last year and they were all black. If they are for a HT they work fine as you will never see them in the dark.
