  1. Dropped a pair of Eminence Kappa 15 c's into the Cornwall II's tonight. I had been wanting to do this for sometime after reading a couple different threads here on the subject. Justin Weber of Amps and Sound really encouraged me to go for it and Im glad he did! To my ears...... The bass is tighter than what the k-34e were producing. As a result the presentation is cleaner and more precise which intern is producing a soundstage with more space between instruments and the imaging is more detailed and accurate. I'd recommend this mod to anyone that has cornwalls that is looking to improve the areas that I mentioned. It is a simple plug and play mod that won't break the bank. Thanks Justin and to the others that have posted on these woofers. Im a happy camper.
  2. I have a Pioneer SA 6800 that I would trade if your interested.
  3. Super simple..... First off just google any of the services named above to find their url. There is no comparison between mp3 and FLAC files (lossless) cd quality. I quit using spottily ages ago so I can't comment on their service other than they're still streaming 320kbps. As for both Qobuz and Tidal they both have a desktop player as well as mobile apps. Both offer airplay. I happen to stream from my laptop via Airfoil, because it allows me to be able to EQ. Airfoil streams to AppleTV, I come out of AppleTV via toslink to a Schitt Bifrost DAC w/ Uber upgrade and out to a Schitt PYS pre and on to my amp. Easy Peasy.
  4. Theres another called Orastream but as far as I know they are exclusively classical music. Im very impressed with Qobuz but getting a subscription required a email as they are not officially up and running in the states. That said they got back to me in about an hour after I sent my request and hooked me up via paypal.
  5. Anyone sign up for TIDAL today? I did, free 30 day trial...... I currently have a Qobuz subscription too and I honestly think that Qobuz sounds a bit better. My first impression of Tidal is that it sounded a bit "thin". Curious to hear others thoughts
  6. thats how i ran the adcoms you saw at my house
  7. I really enjoyed this movie, also I'd highly recommend the Muscle Shoals documentary to anyone that hasn't seen it.
  8. I for one like listening to recorded music of all kinds. I think there are some and have been some, amazing, recording artists. My personal goal is to be able to playback those recordings and enjoy them to their fullest. That said though not all of the recordings that I like ever started out as a natural sounds at least not by my definition of natural. Furthermore, Im not sure that I think music needs to be natural in order to be interesting, enlightening, sonically fulfilling or to artistic merit. Pet Sounds, Sgt Peppers, In Rainbows, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Noble Beast, Darkside of the moon, Fragile and on and on and on................ But anyways I thought it was a good read and worthy of question and thought. Interesting reading everyones responses.
  9. I thought this was a good read. http://www.stereophile.com/content/its-real-thing I had a couple conversations recently that touched on similar questions so I guess it seemed timely in light of such discourse. though I'd share it with you all. Cheers
  10. Maybe we can convince Gary to bring the stacks to next gathering at the Studio where room isn't an issue????????
  11. Thats crazy insane!!! Ive never heard of anyone trying that at home! Sounds like a ton o fun. Hmmmmmmm time for another gtg already sounds like to me.
  12. Justin wish you could've joined! I really enjoyed the stereo 15. I know I was glad, and I'm pretty sure everyone else was too, that Jim brought it along, I wasn't sure if it would make the trip. I'll shoot you a pm at some point I had a thought i'd like to shoot past you. Im thinking theres another gathering in the future and this time Im thinking of another venue that can accommodate more people and gear. be good
  13. Indeed!!! Thanks to everyone that showed up! Really cool group of guys for sure, honestly couldn't have been a nicer group. Jimjimbo brought out the ampandsound stereo 15 and the super Hersey's both ROCKED and sounded so sweet. We played a variety of material through them and everything was right on. Jason str brought the table tuba and frankly Im pretty sure everyone wanted to leave with it. It just completes the sound. The cornwalls and the heresys sound great on there own but the table tuba just took em to 11 if you know what Im saying. Mark brought a, Yamaha stereo amp that just sang with great clarity and precision, as well as some killer source material. Opusk2k9 came and shared what was my favorite piece of the night http://digg.com/video/this-singers-voice-is-giving-us-chills check it out and play it loud. Derrick brought his Yaquin amp and I'm sorry to say we didn't get it wired up before he had to hit the road, so a next time is inevitable. Jimjimbo got some pics so Im sure they'll show up at some point in these parts. My ears are satiated and my bellies full so I'm going to hit it. Nicely done Gents and I'll see you at the next Chicagoland Klipsch gathering hopefully soon. Good times. Cheers Lemonstring
  14. Are you coming out on sat? Hit me with a pm and we'll get you the details, basically we're meeting at my house in Batavia. Get me your email address and we'll add you to the Group email.
  15. I stream Flac files to apple tv. I use a subscription service called Qobuz that streams lossless flac files to my apple tv via airfoil. I come out of apple tv via optical to a Schitt Bifrost with their uber upgrade . Couldn't be happier and its uber easy. I also use i tunes along with airport on occasion if Qobuz doesn't have something in my iTunes library, doesn't happen to often but... the beatles, zeppelin etc.... I recommend this set up as stated I'm happy and it sounds great to my ears. Maybe a devialet would sound better but its a bit out of my range currently.
  16. hope everyone had a good weekend. We're a week out anyone that wants to join that hasn't sent me their email address do so in the next day and I'll get you on the group email with the event details. cheers
  17. I'd love to hear the HH Scott I bet its sweet
  18. I like it all.... white, red, dry, sweet....
  19. Hope you're all having a good weekend. So, I just returned from grabbing some new/used vinyl from the local shop, kiss the sky. I mentioned the get together on the 18th to the owner, as mentioned he's a fellow Klipsch guy. He gave me that look that you get from those who wear spectacles when they peer over the rims of their glasses, you know the one. He said he'd love to join us. So I'm guessing he'll show up with a couple of ringers..... should be good. I'll shoot out the email with the event details, address, time and so on in the next week or so as the date gets closer. 20. Very nice, do you have any pictures of the profile or from behind? Im curious if these could work on a base bin? Ive been thinking about a pair or cornscalas that would have the horns mounted, on top of the bass cabinet, and left exposed. Any thoughts, would these work in that application? Would the horns exposed on top compromise the sound quality at all? Thanks
  21. Hi all Im looking for a good phono pre amp to go with mate with my rega P3-24 and dynavector 10x5 cartridge. I read some good reviews on the P-75 and it seemed like it would have good synergy with my cart. Holler if you know of one for sale or possibly have knowledge of another that would match well with the 10x5. I am currently using a emotiva xsp-1 but Im not 100% sold on it. Thanks Lemonstring
  22. I'd love to hear that amp and sound stereo 15 sometime.... I've kept a close eye on what Mr. Weber is up to, great looking stuff with a cool philosophy behind his creations.
  23. so I had a couple thoughts, tell me what you guys think..... 1st) meet up at my crib in Batavia at 3pm and head to the local record store, kiss the sky, its a pretty great store with a ton of used vinyl and cds as well as new stuff. I thought it'd be cool to head in there, Im going to extend an invite to the owner of the shop as he is a proud klipsch owner though I don't think a forum member. 2nd) I thought it could be interesting to go through the evolution of a stereo system. I still have most of the gear I started this journey with about 2 years ago. I started with a set of RF82's and a yamaha AVR (that I don't have). I then moved to separates, still solid state, which consisted of an adcom 2353 along with a Emotiva umc-1. Next I bought the cornwalls and updated the crossovers. I have the rf82s in storage for a future surround set up. Next I replaced the solid state amp with a 12w audion sterling EL34 class A amp and replaced the use of the Emotiva umc-1 with a Schitt bifrost dac with the uber upgrade. I also replaced my monster speaker cable with Kimber. At this point I was streaming via mog, later beats and then qobuz. latest addition to the system a rega p3-24 w/ a dynavector 10x5 cartridge. Just a thought, could be interesting to see how the system has changed..... has the quality improved? Maybe, maybe not.... maybe i just heard something different at each turn not necessarily better but maybe. Could be interesting..... Let me know if any of you think it would be cool or we can just play tunes and not geek out on the different gear and gadgets.
  24. ok so it sounds like saturday oct 18th will be the day for our gathering. If you are interested in attending, and have not yet, please send me a pm and I'll get you my address and further details. Thanks Lemonstring
