    K510

I have for sale two Klipsch K-510 Horns with K-69 drivers.(Mine are actually P Audio BMD750 drivers however it is exactly the same) They have only been used for about 6 weeks. These items are a perfect upgrade to take a LaScala to 2-way making it a Jubscala or to scratch build a really nice 2 way "cornscala' with the addition of 2 Crites CW1526c woofers. I have a set of Jubscala myself but have got the upgrade bug and i have upgraded my drivers and gone active with the crossover so if anybody is considering it they are ready to go. $600 for the lot. (shipped)
  3. Thaddeus, I followed this topic early on as it was something that i was also interested in. Thanks for raising the subject and thanks again for the link to Golden Ears. That is a great tool for some of us uneducated to discover a bit more about refining our listening skills. It also helps to explain in practice a lot of the terms that are discussed in many of the topics that i read and followed but perhaps didn't fully understand. regards Paul T
  4. Sounds like a journey many go thru. I myself sold my soul and made a lot of money when younger only to lose it thru not being happy with the way i lived my life. Now i am a firefighter, the pays not so good and i will never own a set of palladiums but when i look into the mirror each day i like the person looking back at me. Money cant buy that!! Plus i am pretty good at DIY which when armed with a bit of knowledge can help you carve out a pretty nice system. I know your job is stressful, i can relate. However also knowing that you are making the world a better place each day you go to work must make it a lot easier. I think that it is great what you are doing with the new business, it also helps keep the wife happy about your expenditures or at least it helps justify them. :-)) I have used that little chestnut myself once or twice. Not to mention the fact that life has a way of making things work out when we apply a bit of passion and a positive outlook. Best of luck once again. regards Paul T
  5. If I was doing an in-wall system then i would be getting the THX Ultra 2 line. There is not much info on the in-wall speakers at first glance but if you download the brochure there is a lot more info. I havent heard them in person but that is the system that i would audition first. regards Paul
  6. Congratulations on the new venture Justin. Took a look at the website and thought it was great. Hope it all goes well and the experience is a rewarding one. regards Paul T

    WTB: K402 horn

Hi Arash, My suggestion would be to open an account at BongoUS, its free. That will allow you to purchase product in the USA as you have a US delivery address and phone number. Then contact American Cinema Equipment, Inc. [O] 503-285-7015 [F] 503-285-6765 1927 N Argyle St, Portland OR 97217 They can organise for the K402 to be purchased from Klipsch, it is then delivered to Bongo and they forward it to you. Their freight deals seem to be better than even getting it delivered directly from the supplier, in addition you can get things from multiple suppliers and have them shipped together. Hey, Arash Sorry i just checked their website and they don't deliver to Iran but i thought i would still post in case somebody else wants the info or you may have a relative/friend in a country nearby that they do deliver to that you can use to help you out. Sorry again, i feel your pain, living in Australia has its challenges also as it costs so much for stuff once you pay freight. Fortunately for me i found out about Bongo which helps a little. regards Paul T
  8. Hey Mate, Great Man Cave!!! You can never pay too much for something that you treasured as a kid. When i was a teenager there was a Darth Vader statue in the city's biggest department store. I used to go in and look at it all the time. 20 years later i found a forum known as The PropDen, $5000 later i am in the home straight to fulfil that dream. Enjoy the speakers regards Paul
  9. RAFellows, I have checked everything again and the doghouse sides are 8" as opposed to 7 1/2" and the doghouse roof is 17 1/2" as opposed to 16 3/8". The motor boards are the same. I think the 1977 3/4" plans would be pretty accurate. Thats why i am still tossing up building that bin but using 1" walls. What would be REALLY GREAT would be if somebody who has an LS2 bass bin could measure: The length of the doghouse side wall The width between the doghouse sidewall and the sidewall of the bass bin (the width of the side passage) The length of the doghouse roof panel, from the apex at the front to where it joins the doghouse side wall I notice that in Mustang guys plans, the doghouse roof joins the sidewall on the inside edge, rather than butting up to the end point. The apex of the roof is also at the front edge rather than set back a little. I think with the measurements above i could get an almost identical copy of the LS2 It would be great for us DIYers to have an accurate set of plans as i know the throat cross sectional area and the driver air chamber need to have just the right ratio. I have seen the formula which is not that hard but trying to work it out myself is beyond my level of skill. regards Paul
  10. :-)) Thanks I have had a morning experimenting with sketchup and Layout!! I see the plans have 1" internals. The really cool thing is that i was able to add the measurements in metric, which is a lot easier for those of us "down under" I notice that the dimensions of the doghouse side walls and roof vary from the 3/4" plans. This will alter the volume of the internal drivers chamber and the length of the horn to a small extent, it is in the final part of its journey but i am not sure if it will make any difference. Mustang Guy, do you know if this matches the dimensions of the LS2 doghouse?? Or if in fact it will make any difference as i know when i read the paper on the Jubilee there seemed to be a range within which things worked. Sorry for my use of incorrect terminology, I'm new to this!! BTW If anyone wants a metric version of the LS2 bass bin exploded with dimension for each of the parts i have it saved as a PDF. Paul
  11. I am just getting ready to start a 1" LS2 bass bin build, just waiting on a new saw blade to arrive. I am going to use MDF, as far as the birch handling the screws better i am going to use a Kreg Jig but i think that the glue is what will be doing all the work once it dries. I will start a thread for it when i do. Are you planning on just using 1" for the walls or will you do it for the motor board and doghouse. I havent looked at the plans on this thread to see if they show 1" motor-board, I really need to get Sketch up, but i made calculations based on the 3/4" plans. Do you know if it makes a difference with resonating of the internal walls or if in fact they even do given that they don't have such wide unreinforced spans as the sides. Good luck with your build Paul

    KPT-100?

Hey Mate, Thanks for that!! Its funny, i looked thru the forum and didn't see anything then as soon as i made this post i stumbled across your thread in garage sale. It did make me feel better about the price though, i paid $500 for all 5, but i am going to have to do a 9hr each way road trip to pick them up. btw you seem to have an endless supply, you are definitely "The Source". I always figured that i was going to have a "spare". But at that price who cares? We normally have to pay double what you guys do, that is if we can find them!! Otherwise FedEx make a fortune when we purchase from USA regards Paul T

    KPT-100?

Hi All, I just won an e-bay auction for 5 x KPT100 speakers. EBay Australia, so klipsch is a little harder to find Down Here!! Apparently they came out of a theater. They looked Ok251380998877 I hope they will make good surrounds. I havent read much about them so if anybody can give me a rundown in layman's terms i would really appreciate it. I was thinking they would go nicely with a set of lascala accross the front. I plan to run them with a Parasound HCA 1206 that i have just had spruced up after 20 years of service. Btw i also have a pair of kLF30's, an Academy and a pair of Tangents that i am in the process of making into Heresy 2's. thanks in advance Paul T
  17. Congrats Mate!! Wish they were at my place instead. I bet they sound awesome, enjoy!!! Paul
  18. Hi all, I am after some help with making a center channel to suit my KLF 30's. I hope i am asking this in the correct forum!!! I have read the threads about modifying a KLF 30 to make it into a horizontal center channel and that sounds great. Problem is that these speakers never come up for sale in Oz and to have them shipped would be prohibitive. I can get a pair of the woofers but i need horns to match. I will get crossovers from Bob Crites. There is a variety of heritage horns for sale both here and on e-bay but no KLF 30's. Reading thru the Cornscala threads i have seen how they have been made 2-way and 3-way successfully as well as done using a variety of horns including the eliptrac 400. This got me to thinking that i could perhaps make this "KLF" type center using the same dimensions as a KLF 30 however using a better horn than came with the standard speakers and maybe even making it 2-way. For home theater use the center channel carries a lot of the weight of the system so perhaps an upgraded horn would be even better than the horizontal KLF 30. My knowledge is limited to reading thru about 50 Cornscala threads so i am putting the question out to the comminity for opinions on two things. 1. Could i improve the performance of this "KLF 30 type center" by utilising a better horn whilst trying to maintain some sort of Timbre match? 2. What alternatives exist to the standard KLF 30 horns that will work and be timbre matched? any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paul
