  1. Just found out today that if you don't find them used, your dealer is the only place to get them. Mine are the square non slanted kind.Light oak.I'd like to have some slanted ones also.
  2. Wow,thin bass from a Heresy, that brings back a memory from 20 years or so ago. I found one Heresy and disconnected the tweet and mid and used it as a center between 2'72 floor standing Rat Shack things.Bass from the Heresy was a nice addition. Anyway, get a Velodyne 810 or 1012 sub and be done with it.If you don't really care for the sound, pass them on to someone who might.IMHO that is. My single Heresy is now my center between my K-Horns in my HT.I added an AA network and K-Horn squawker and it's now a perfect match. Just bought 2 '96 Heresy's that came with 2 SW II subs,8"with a 10"passive.They are in my bed room doing a very nice job on music. Ported subs don't get it for me when it comes to music.
  3. Paul,a very happy birthday!s> I think of you every time I go into my living room and look at my Klipschorns.
  4. Doug is right, you can get just one. That would be the best match.Should be a perfict tonal match. Might sound strange, but put it upside down on your TV.It gets the tweeter to a closer plane. That's the way mine is.
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1219104918 Sure does look like one to me!!
  6. MB, great post, enjoyed it a lot.I have K-Horns so not much movement there. A friend has K-Horns using the Luxman M-4000,has used it since the early 80's.usually has the watt meters at 18.Yes loud!s> My couch is 11'from my Horns and I've noticed on my spl meter w/test cd and just by moving a foot forward or backward that the bass improves.Good(or bad)old frequency cancellations hard at work. The couch is in the middle of the room and I'd move it back some, but my side surrounds are there to stay.O Well!
  7. Tom,water not muddy. I use the coax for my Sony DVD on my 3801. Before I sold my CD player the DVD was toslink.Never noticed any jump up and down difference. You can select any fiber optic in or the coax in.
  8. No,all I have is what Klipsch has for specks.I have the brochure that Klipsch had out when the 4's were new.If I get my scaner to work right I'll scan it and send it.Give me a day or 2.Email me Tuesday if you haven't heard from me.I sometimes need reminding.
  9. I don't even want to get into this,but..... There are those that say yes and those that say no. I'm in the yes group.I know there are some differences between Denon models.I had the 2800 and bought the 3801 and the 2800 sounded better. The 3801 has better DACs and should sound better, but not out of the box.The same thng happened when I upgraded from the AVR-2000 to the 2800. Electronics need time to"burn"in.Those that are found on some High End forums will say the same, including mag reviewers with new amps. The manual won't say that. The same goes for speaker wire.At least at my house.I upgraded wire and heard no difference at first.A month later I decided to get the old wire out and did some A/Bing.I could tell an improvement within the first few minutes of music. I believe there is a "break"in period.Shame you can't buy 2 and run one for a month and then get the other one out. IMHO!s>
  10. Glad to see the Denon is not at fault, these things can be a pain to set up and all of the manufacturers do it different.I'm very used to the way Denon is and have found that reading the darn manual over and over might get it. I use the 3801 in installs and have done 3 and getting ready to do the 4th one today.I still look through the manual. Good luck. P.S.Look close at the Alien box,the DD can be decieving, does it actualy say 5.1 on it?
  11. No,it's not the Denon unless it has a problem. Does the DVD when it comes on give you a choice? Does your DVD player setup menu give you any choices on the play back default? It might be in there. About the center speaker, angle it down so the tweeter points as close as it can at your head while seated. My bed room Ht center is almost 32"above head hieght and works fine pointed down, just put something under the back of it.
  12. erdric,I got stupid some years back and parted with our 4's.Kept our 3's,wish I had also kept the 4's. Wait and keep looking for that Academy, you will be happy you did.To me it is the perfect center match, right Mystery Guest? She didn't tell me that she loved the KG-4's untill after they were gone and I didn't really get her approval on the sale.
  13. Yes,once you hear them you will want them. I pursued the mighty Klipschorn ever since first hearing them in 1977,found them last year at a price that must have been meant to be. As it turned out they were 1977 K-Horns. The K-Horn is the most complicated bass section of the three folded horn Klipsch speakers.
  14. OOPS! Just noticed that my 3801 doesn't have A&B speaker outs for the mains. Guess that's out.My 2800 had them. The DTS Neo:M(the Neo music mod)is rather interesting.(I don't use it much)It directs the music to the L&R mains with a little going to the center for fill and directs some to the surround speaker you have turned on.Sounds better to me than 5/7 channel stereo.IMHO
  15. talktoKeith, sorry for the late reply. You could do what you are thinking, all 4 corners to A+B and run "Direct"mod. The 3801 amps will handle the load. I guess if I hade 4 K-Horns I'd try it just to hear for fun. Ya,add some power, makes a difference in low level detail. ------------------ My Home Theater: '77 Klipschorn L&R w/ALK's '75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. KSP-S6 at sides 2 IW-150s rear. Denon AVR-3801 2 Denon POA-2800 200X2 1 driving the Horns 1 driving the bi-wired Heresy center. All speakers set to"large". 2 DIY 12"4ohm subs, one in each corner(behind the Horns false walls)Carver A500x 400 watts per ch.feed. 1 12" powered sub(behind the couch)feed from the surrounds pre-outs. Sony DVP-C650D. Dish Echostar 4700 w/DD JVC S7600U S-VHS Pioneer CDL-D501 laser Music in "Direct"only! DH Labs T-14 speaker wire to the front 3. Horns & Heresy bi-wired using Monster XPHP for the bass. Stinger Queen interconnects.
  16. CheeseHead, I think I see what the problem is,you are in the wrong mode.Hit the "Dolby/DTS Surround button on the remote. You might have been listening to 5 channel stereo instead of Dolby digital. The DD light will be on anyway. The readout should display"Dolby D"when watching a DD movie and DTS when it's in DTS. What ever mod you were in last,it will remember and stay in that mod till you change it. I listen to my music in Direct DVD mod and the Dolby Digital light will still come on with a DD movie till I switch it back to DD. That would explain the problem with dts. Check it out.Hope this helps. Steve
  17. Our room is 15.5'wide and 26'deep.Half way back it opens into a dining room/kitchen. We have curtins on a double door and a tapestry on the other. Click on the litle house above and you will get an idea of what we did. It keeps down and/or stops the sound from reflecting. If your couch is up against your back wall it will also couse the bass to be boomy. Try leaning or moving forward to see if the "boomy"goes away or lessens.
  18. Whew!!!MG,don't make me so nervious. You better hang on to me........After all it was real hard finding a wife that didn't come with a"wife-factor"malfunction.He,he!! So KeepBooks, did you find the problem?
  19. My 3801 is set to Auto and that's where I leave it. In the dvd menu,I switch it to dts and the Denon detects it. DVD player is a Sony DVP-C650D,but I doubt that will make a difference. All my levels have been set using AVIA and I've never noticed my center being louder or everything being directed to the center. In the surrounds is usually where the difference is in dts DVDs and the bass is a bit deeper and/or louder.
  20. Sorry for the multiple replies.Something wrong with this site or on my end. O the wonderful world of technology!!
  21. Sure do wish, sometimes,we could delete our own posts. Again, sorry for all the posts, something was not working right this morning, seams to be now!
  22. Yep,those are the POA-2800's.They just do get warm in the open and I had thought about putting them in the cabinets, but I'm out of room, unless I move all my videos.Hate to have that stuff in an enclosed place. The Carver sub amp doesn't even get warm and it's in the bottom of one of the cabinets. The S6's are about 20"(center of the S6's)in front of ear position.Doesn't seam to have an affect. We are thinking of closing in the opening to the dining room and I might move them back.
