  1. Like garlic, eh? To slightly derail this amiable thread even more, I'd like to comment on my CW crossovers made by someone on this very board. They sound quite nice. Good detail, tighter bass. I'll assume the caps open things up even more after a while. BTW, I was slightly confused during installation. One unit had 4 terminals and one had 5. I guess that was a bonus.
  2. I'll have to check those out. Thanks, coda. One of my favorites this year is "Eternal" by the Branford Marsalis Quartet.
  3. Happy Holidays to you too, tkot!
  4. It might have been funny had the spelling been correct.
  5. I've got some literature with comparative pricing from Jan.,1977. Cornwalls- C-WO with risers $554 each.
  6. What are these people thinking? Take a look at the shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5722542530&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
  7. A "k" is a thousand, correct? Perhaps he is selling money. 3 k's for $2900 is about right.
  8. There's a nice 222C on ebay also. Ends tomorrow. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5710787256&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
  9. Boeing! Good grief. My father worked at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach for 35 years. I assume you are referring to the same facility. If you live long enough all kinds of strange stuff happens.
  10. I'll trade you a pair of hedge clippers and a goat. This is a fair price for a very good player. I would have to acquire something pretty damn impressive to let mine go.
  11. Thanks. I got to read it three times. On the third read I began to appreciate some of the more subtle attributes of the piece.
  12. I wish the man luck. There's plenty of room in this world for one-man speaker shops.
  13. Keep in mind that those opinions are formed while under the influence of those lovely AVS colors.
  14. Have listened to the CD about a dozen times now. What a wonderful album! Such an intimate, seductive voice. Absolutely my favorite version of "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To". She reminds me a little of Chet Baker, of all people. And I don't really care for Chet's voice. But there is something similar about the delivery and emotional vulnerability that reminds me of Chet. Anyway, Allen, how about phase 2?
  15. Quite attractive. Can one keep them as pets? THAT would scare away the neighborhood tomcat.
  16. This is sad. I hope he didn't suffer.
  17. Thanks, Allen and AFE. Tis ordered. In the meantime, I'm sitting here listening to Ella with Ellington.
  18. Allen - my ever-expanding jazz collection does not include any Helen Merrill. Which CDs would you recommend? BTW, your advice is appreciated. I picked up "True Blue" by Tina Brooks. Great album! Thanks for the tip.
  19. I enjoy his posts. He's witty, opinionated and can spell.
  20. If you are interested, keep looking for a local sale. ebay or otherwise. I bought mine on ebay for $644. The seller stipulated pick-up only, which gave me a slight bidding advantage since he was 20 miles away.
