  1. Mornin' to all!! Got the cd player to FedEx yesterday, took Baxter for a long walk and then we went to see Interstellar. Good movie and recommended. Will probably watch again on Blu ray in the HT. Broncos on TV tonight. That's it for now. Cheers to all.
  2. Hear that. Got bit by a Brown Recluse several years ago. Didn’t realize it at the time of the bite; however, noticed a red line moving up my arm. Went to the doctor -- who confirmed the bite. Gave me a shot of antibiotic -- which turns out, I was allergic to. Interesting day that was. Got bit by something a few years ago…noticed blood poisoning line about 11 PM. Debated waiting till morning but decided to head to the ER. Doctor examined my arm and said, “see this (pointing to a ring around the wound…like a bullseye)…this is what we don’t want to see…I’m glad you came in." I’ve had two close calls with rattlesnakes; but, never been bit. Thank God you went in. A friend from the midwest actually died from a spider bite to the neck some years ago. He was not the kind of guy you'd expect to cash out from something so small ... played college football and did a brief stint in the NFL. We have a few nasty spiders in Colorado too, and are careful.
  3. Some of you guys know your college football a lot better than I do, but I just read that Mizzou (10-2) knocked off Arkansas is touted as a spoiler in the SEC and will be a 'spoiler' in their conference. Should be headed to a bowl game too, I'd guess.
  4. P.S. No reason we old farts can't get a Skype deal going on our own!!
  5. Happy Saturday all. 2 cups down. Not much on the agenda except shipping the defective cd player back to Music Direct. Would be a good day for a drive in the mountains except for all the darn ski traffic. Gotta get the imagination fired!! Cheers to all.
  6. Good evening guys .. a bit late for coffee so this is diet Coke and Cables for me. Thanksgiving went well .. had to finally pull the turkey from the smoker and finish inside. Something about high altitude and cool temps, but any more smoke might have been too much. Baxter is a happy dude with turkey tastes and kids to play with. Goofed off today except for contacting Music Direct about a faulty new cd player. Fantastic customer service ... don't even have to pay for return shipping and they will send us a new one. Takes a major bite and irritant out of on-line shopping. Highly recommended. Hang in there Tarheel .. she'll be back before ya know it.
  7. Happy Thanksgiving coffee friends!! Up early for no good reason and that's okay. Baxter has more sense ... got up, went out and then back to bed. Guess one needs to get mentally prepared to smoke 25 lbs or so of turkey so here I am. I'm thankful for so much in life, including my forum coffee buds. Will try to check back later before the chaos ensues. Blessings to each of you. Chuck
  8. Happy Turkey Day to all the new friends I've made in this forum. You are a great group!!
  9. Forgot to mention, if you want tubes, look at the Vincent integrated hybrid. Excellent amp. Almost bought it, but Parasound won out.
  10. I've got Parasound separates on my CW III's in our 2 channel system and they are very good and recommended. The price range is not out of the question based on what you stated. I would not even consider Emo if I could swing Parasound. If I couldn't do that, I'd go with Marantz integrated (PM8005 or PM6005), which matches up well with Klipsch and has more that enough power. Best of luck. Chuck.
  11. Thanks, Roger. My sentiments as well.
  12. Mornin' all. Gonna mix the ingredients and start brining the bird and extra bird breast soon. Big cooking/smoking day for me tomorrow. Love to cook. Baxter will celebrate his 1st holiday with us and has informed me that he can't wait for the frozen beef bone we have for him and a few bites of smoked turkey. Tarheel - hang in there with the guitar. Learn some chords and we'll jam next time you're in Colorado!! (My instrument isn't so portable). Happy Thanksgiving Eve, guys.
  13. This "climate change" deal (they can't call it global warming now, it seems) is about money, politics and government control. More than just sad when the morning weather report has become a bone of political contention.
  14. $475?? Man. To be fair, we are shopping for different stuff. The range I pay for VG+ or better from well rated sellers on ebay or a-gon is usually between 5 and 20 or so bucks plus shipping. You are looking for new vinyl with an apparently high demand factor. Most of what I'm after is vintage and outside the rock genre. In any event, I'd keep shopping!!
  15. Personally, I'd be looking for a pair of KLF-20's or 30's in the Legend series. The 10's are pretty good, but the others are up the food chain. Best guess on price for the 10's would probably be in the 300 to 500 range in good condition. Make sure the cabinets don't rattle. KLF's had some bracing problems. So far I've lucked out with my 30's and 10's which I use in my HT system. Welcome to the forum.
  16. It would help your potential buyer to know if they are painted and, if so, if it was at least a really good (or not) paint job. Better pics, too..good luck to you.
  17. Good morning, all. This is TPD!! (Turkey Pickup Day). Ordered a fresh bird from a local meat market. Gonna brine it on Wednesday and smoke it on pecan wood on Thursday, then feed it to the mob. Most likely will not be looting it, either. Check back in a while. Cheers.
  18. I did that with a 55" Plasma one time, (installed it in the master bedroom) the wife came in and and said looks great, hows it working? Not having anything hooked up yet i ask her to grab that old VHS Vcr from the closet, wired it up and had no idea there was a tape in it. Fired it up and we witnessed life sized Porn, I ask her where the hell did we get that VCR? neighbor had given it to us when he moved! P.S. a 55" TV is way to big for a bedroom!! For that you needed a DVD player.
  19. Happy Monday, guys. Denver metro is actually warming up a bit this week although our central mountains got a fair amount of snow. Good combination ... we stay warmer and the ski resorts/tourism do well. Don't think I'll shuffle off to Buffalo any time soon. Not much to report ... getting ready for Thanksgiving mob, Broncos won and life is good. Check back later.
  20. There are some true experts who have weighed in on this one, and I'm not one of them, even though I do know something about good sound. However, I believe there is something special about the refinement of Heritage speakers for 2 channel listening that is not matched by the other offerings, as good as they may be. My Cornwall III's are in our 2 ch. system and my KLF speakers comprise our HT system. I grew up with Heritage speakers and I'm sure that has a lot to do with my opinions today. It really IS subjective and I don't think that's a cop out. I love my KLF-30's but they ain't gonna replace Heritage in 2 channel nor are any other non-Heritage speakers, as good as they may be. If I replace the CW's, it will be with La Scala or KHorns or perhaps with one of Bob's speakers. Just my $.02.
  21. Morning!! Got the Leslie fixed yesterday and celebrated with a rousing (?) rendition of 'Hi Heel Sneakers' on the B. Mostly getting ready for the Thanksgiving mob today. Groceries, table leaf, check supply of pecan chunks for smoking, etc., winterize lawn mower (not sure how that fits in). What are you guys doing for the holiday next week??
  22. I'm still scratching my head over the superior "digital" speaker. Bet his shop failed and he's still trying to unload inventory.

    Vinyl FS

Don't be discouraged. Some (a lot?) of us are still buying vinyl. I just upgraded my cartridge and platter. TT sales at the local hifi shop we use are strong. I see no reason to "go" all digital or all vinyl, personally. We do both. Good luck on your new table. What are you getting?
  24. Happy Friday, guys. Gonna be a good day. My lady is off work for a change and we're getting ready for Thanksgiving mob. Getting my Leslie (tone cabinet/speaker for the B-3) checked out for a weird noise, so my living room concerts can continue unabated. Sunny and mild in Denver metro and Baxter is settled into his new home and ready for a walk. Life is mostly simple these days and I couldn't ask for more. What a gift!! Check back later. (P.s. thanks to all who pitched in for Joe). Chuck.
