  1. Well, I suspect that the cat will keep you "focused", and the speakers/sound will keep you engaged. And your wife, bless her heart, I'll bet that she is understanding and forgiving . . . .
  2. ^ jjptkd, that's a lot of sound in your BR. From the looks of that right speaker, you DO NOT have any cats . . . ? I have 4. And one in particular often exits his perch from on top of a tall cabinet on the opposite side of where he gets up. So, in the descent, he jumps down onto the top of my right surround--a KLF-20--and then onto the floor. So far, he has not knocked off the 15" vase on top of the speaker. Probably ought to do something, while I am thinking about it.
  3. Please help me understand better--really. Am sure the RB-75s sound fantastic. Here's where I would like to better understand: at the price level these seem to command, why would one not prefer a tower/floor-standing pair when being used as mains? I recognize that the 75s may have a somewhat smaller footprint than certain towers, and that a stand may appear less "bulky", or something. But if the primary reason is the quality of sound in the given listening area, is it not probable that even "superior" sound may be had from a tower--at least in a mid-to-large environment--and the tower likely is much easier to find? And often less expensive? Thoughts?
  4. Dave -- Maybe they will be placed on an open shelf of some sort. For instance, I have a pair of KG 2.2s that I am placing on a shelf (with the matching KG 2.2V center channel), and the L/R are 19.5" high. The L/R will be on either side of a 42" TV down in my office.
  5. Gosh, that price exceeds the price paid (by far) for my KLF-30s. And even more for the 20s and 10s. Bet they do sound wonderful, though. Dave, must be your younger eyes--I can't see anything like the cat footprints you mentioned--not out of my eye that had cataract surgery 2 weeks ago, much less the one going in for upgrades next week.
  6. Hats off to you, Matt. Beautiful, perfect, and YOURS.
  7. Hi, Michael, Have/have had nearly all the speakers you are considering. Had a KV-4 center (between KLF-30s. I know, I know, the purists will say it was not timbre-matched, but it still sounded good.). Then, I had the opportunity to get a KLF-C7. Have to say that I thought the C7 sounded slightly better, but: 1) not a big difference, 2) can't identify the real reason(s) I thought so at the time, and 3) was a year or so ago, so memory dim). At this very moment, I am listening to my KG 2.2s, with a 2.2V matching center. Sound wonderful to me (in my downstairs office of 14' x 11' x 8'). Excellent range, power, and fullness. But all this has to be taken with several grains of salt, as I am not what most would consider a particularly informed/trained listener. And, not having the pressure of presumed expertise or opinion to defend, I have to say that I think the KG 2.2s (L/C/R) sound superb. Good luck, and keep us info'd, OK?
  8. Teaman, it looks so COOL! It is tempting to buy just for the looks and the "bragging rights". Imagine that in a darkened room . . . .
  9. Good heavens, Scrappy! And I thought the 5-inch guns on my ships were kind of "bad" (but good at bass) . . . .
  10. Maybe wvu80 has a word or two to say? He is a resident expert on the CF series, and has much to offer about them (and other series).
  11. Yes, of course, many people are talented. And the result/outcome is even more enjoyable when you have a good story to tell, and to enjoy it with good people!
  12. Matt, whatever you (ultimately) decide, the journey and the doing will be fun and fantastic!
  13. ^ Would be great to get together with you both!
  14. Congrats, Matt!!! What will you do with the disemboweled 30s?
  15. Hi, Mookie, A kind offer. Actually, I do have a couple of center channels I could use. One, however, is simply too large (6 1/2" woofers), and the other is a Bose VCS-10 (was included in a group purchase). The Bose solves the size and the issue of having to have the TV on (or not). The problem? 1) I really was hoping for a greater frequency range (in this admittedly non-critical listening environment), and 2) it is "Bose", and likely the object of great ridicule on this forum! Upon further discussion with my other half, she prefers to not have music at 2-3AM, with the TV screen still on (the soundbar arrangement, the soundbar simply does not have the correct connections to accomplish the standby with the TV), so if I must have quiet music throughout the night, it will have to be with a center channel that will fit the physical confines. So, will muddle through with what I have, I suppose. But, I do thank you for your offer!!!
  16. Hi, Scrappy, did what you said in 1st para above. Worked. Thank you. Now, I just need to be able to pass audio through the soundbar without having the TV on. Great news about your likely trip to Chesterfield in a few weeks. I am only a short distance west of there, 1 mile away from Hwy 40/ I64, so is very convenient. Let's make a point of getting together--one Navy man (and Klipsch forum member) to another.
  17. Hey all, Just returned to town, and see I need to re-phrase my question/situation, in light of Scrappy's suggestion about a soundbar. My AVR in my bedroom application is a Yamaha RX-V575. View of back is shown below. I have the AVR set up w/ Scene 1 being the Blu-Ray/DVD, Scene 2 as the TV, Scene 3 is internet radio, and Scene 4 is AM/FM tuner. I have a Charter Cable Box w/ HDMI Out. I have a Yamaha YAS-101 soundbar that I would like to use. Connections in photo below. I have a Vizio 47" LCD TV, connections area shown below, too. So, my question is what wires and connections are involved for me to hear all audio out of the soundbar (TV speakers off)? Thank you for your help!
  18. Hi, Mookie, Just got back in town, and saw your nice offer. I may take you up on it, if I cannot get a soundbar I already own to connect properly (am sure IT WILL, is only that I am having trouble figuring it out!). Scrappy (a couple of posts ago suggested a soundbar, so I will upload some photos of what I have, and perhaps someone more technically inclined than I can figure out what I should connect where. Look forward to meeting one day!
  19. teaman, those CCs no doubt would sound great, however, the depth, if greater than 6", is the obstacle I can't change.
  20. Scrappy, would live it! But just won't fit, darn it!!!
  21. Thanks for the good ideas! The problem with most centers of "sufficient" size, meaning woofers large enough to get down to approx. 50Hz cause the cabinet to be a little too large to fit in the space available. It is likely that the only Klipsch that would fit is the KV-1, and its low end is not nearly as low as what I am looking for.
  22. Youth and Tea, I tend to agree with you, as I looked at the photos, and compared dimensions. To answer your question, I think I am looking for "something". Have a number of considerations, one of which is my wife's preference for simplicity of operation. Already must use 2 remotes--the Yamaha for the AVR, and the Charter one to change channels. So that is part of my thinking in looking at a center channel, rather than either of 2 soundbars I have (and yet another remote). I notice that the frequency range of the Video 1 goes down to about 59Hz, and the woofers are 5 1/4". Sufficient for non-critical, but still fairly demanding listening? Previously had a L/C/R, but made the mistake of taking the L/R out "temporarily", and guess who filled the void with her preferred stuff!
  23. Youthman, does the "white part" around the spring clips look a little different to you in the photo I posted, and the back of the Video 1? It kind of looks to me like a little more than purely the angle/perspective in the photo shot. . . .
