  1. OK tinkering around today. I can make these as one piece with the horn lens cut in or two piece so the tweeter can be used as freestanding with the mount block or stuck in the K-77 cutout.
  2. Day what now? Gotta love it and now he is a thread cop too. I don't mean to be rude but it is here and not hear.
  3. I am still wondering about how many speakers you are using for one venue at a time. I was told if I wanted to put sound in a restaurant for instance with four speakers, one in each corner, to flips the channels so that the right side faced the left and the left would face the right. There is an art to making things sound right in tandem. Just read what you said about crowd size again. Maybe bi-amping and a mixer board is the answer to a changing environment. I don't know just guessing. Chief Bonehead endorses the La Scala for this and I know they get loud enough.
  4. You never know what you are going to find stuffed in speakers. I had some KP260's once with holes in the back and people thought that was a great place for peppermint candy and ABC gum.
  5. Yes and you are still subjected to the same dumbing down the USA students are by design. The nice thing about statistics is that even as standards of excellence are declining around the world one can still make the claim to be at a certain position relative to others and be right. What is ignored in passing, or due to deliberate deception, is the fact none are as good as they were. One can't possibly be as proficient at hard core disciplines when so much of the four years now involves indoctrination, affirmative action and material not relevant to the major.
  6. Better yet get an old McGuffy's Reader and see what students used to have to know. Back in the days when 2+2 still equaled 4 and you did not have to have social engineering constructs to interpret how you should get to 4. Oh and there were only two sexes. I despise current education standards and their deliberate effort to tear us down.
  7. I wonder if there are too many speakers set up wrong and fighting each other.
  8. Amboy Dukes, Scottish Tea on my favorites file. Memories of MC5, SRC, Frost and more. Great days.
  9. I don't know what kind of guests they might have but I traveled for a few years building night clubs. The nonsense we went through to make things drunk proof would defy belief.
  10. True unless they are getting drunk and these are subject to being knocked over. Based on what I have seen in my shops poor acoustic environment I think the better Pro gear has much better ability to overwhelm a bad environment.
  11. To hear more superlative, descriptive and eloquent commentary like........ How can you not admire and desire to hear more of this? On a serious note the funny thing about all this is that if he can't hear a difference can you imagine how bad his source files might be? I guess when it is garbage in garbage comes out no matter how pretty the trash compactor.
  12. That clicking noise is the count down to doom clock that comes with all old electronics
  13. Hi Claude, OK so where does one discover the music? I don't get radio at all where I live so how do I find new good music?
  14. Yes and then they proceed to eke nothing of worth out of it. I think of a lot of the music from the 60's to the late 80's and the ability of many musicians from that time and compare it to this new low talent noise. Lennon was an artist and a musician. Funny that you would quote someone from the golden era that could do these things. Today is like "Lothar and the Hand People" were in their day. New toys and meager talent.
  15. It is easy to get dragged into making things because someone thought they were cool and then you find out very few thought so and there you go with time and material sitting on a shelf doing nothing. It has become evident there is interest in this so now I will look into it.
  16. Heck I was just going to scribe the Hz range on them and dispersion angles and people could just do away with crossovers.
  17. This leads to a question I have. Many of you it appears decide to time align these by putting them on top. Do you want me to come up with something for this using Walnut and Red Oak? What is the height from the top of the speaker to the center of the tweeter for those of you who have done this?
  18. Walnut will change color over time. This is what makes it so hard to do veneer repairs since you have to stain or color the new Walnut to look like the old. I have read various things about doing this including using a UV lamp to get that kind of reddish tint color you see sometimes.
  19. First time I used a pro amp after using my old Onkyo it was a Peavey 800 something with that many watts. Percussion became much better and definition in all ways improved. I think it has more to do with being Pro gear and not home owner barely have the watts stuff that makes the difference. You would have been happy with a number of units from Crown I figure.
  20. I vote routered for the flange and cover with grill. If the flange is too thick for that then a grille can still cover it. And if all that is desired is sound and looks don't count this has to be better than back mount no matter what.
  21. I was surprised to see it since some of the others I have had with that bass bin did not have it. They all sounded great and unless I had the two types side by side I could not tell any difference based on memory. I am sure it improves them but you wont miss the baffle either. It will be fun to read your response to getting these. You should see some of the comments I get back from my buyers. You are in for a revelation.
