  1. Eminence makes a 1.4" to 2" adapter for very little $$ and they are good quality castings.
  2. I would love to hear a set of Celestions with and without Roy's phase plugs. I can tell you today if I was seeking a new set of 402's with 1132 drivers I would buy new from Klipsch. I have had a chance to do direct comparison between the old 1132 style phase plug and the new ones side by side. The difference was not subtle.
  3. I think he should mount some LED lights in there. Red and green blinkies for Christmas perhaps.
  4. I have had a block ready to go for cutting for some time now and one day I might just do it. For some reason it has just not rated very high on my to do list and so it has sat there for almost a year now.
  5. There is a plater right next to downtown Nashville so at least you wont have to drive far ;D
  6. Remember those days when every car had chrome trim and we all thought it looked good?
  7. This should work. https://www.erseaudio.com/Products/Polyswitches/R60-050-L
  8. Many like to flavor their music in certain ways. Tube amps are warm and mellow is a common refrain for instance. Does not mean they are truly lifelike in sound, it means they are what the listener prefers which is what it is all about anyway. I want as close to real life as I can get and so I work on sound that, to me, is like what I have heard in person using stringed instruments like Cellos as a reference. The tunnel imparts a sound quality I do not like and I can't think of one speaker builder that does this with tweeters right now. Legacy speakers yes but not current production. I have another one for you. I know a fair number of people who buy tweeters and then put them in stands to sit on top of their La Scalas where they time align them with the mid horns. I doubt my hearing is acute enough to hear that kind of difference but those who do this say they can. I listen now with EQ flat when listening to speakers with passive crossovers to attempt to get as close to real life as I can. Currently the only exception to that rule is with DSP where, like on my Super MWM's for instance, I have to time align and also work with drivers and horns that require settings to sound right. Impetus and authority take back seat to fidelity in my book as that is what I have watts for if I need them.
  9. I was asked what paint I used and figuring others might be interested here is a picture. Seems to provide a pretty durable cover. Remember cleanliness is king and make sure you clean your surfaces and rough up with scotchbrite.
  10. Opening it up can't hurt. However the straight wall tunnel the sound has to go through to exit the motorboard does hurt and there is no way to fix that. It is why Klipsch eventually went to the K-77-D and F type tweeters.
  11. What you need to do is replace the polyswitch and leave the resistor in there. Blvdre is giving you the right way to do this.
  12. The K-43's needed to restore these are hard to find and a minimum of $150 each in today's world. Real price then becomes $1000 which still gets you prodigious high end sound. It was a set of MCM 1900's that had those same double bass bins that inspired my Super MWM's and once you hear MWM's you can't forget them. Wont dig real low but the best punchy accurate bass you can find.
  13. In use every week here and I think it is better than the rest.
  14. Audyn has one I use. Never tried the one Jim recommends so I have no opinion as to which is better. https://www.parts-express.com/Audyn-Cap-Q4-68uF-400V-MKP-Foil-Capacitor-027-123
  15. They sound good with about four hours in on playing after recapping and LMAHL install. Should sound as good as they will ever be by the end of today. For a box this size it is remarkable how good they are.
  16. WAAAAhhh I want my martyr badge. They do look nice but I would be afraid of chipping and damage to the finish. I might however look into anodizing now and see if people are willing to pay the cost.
  17. I don't think I would mess around changing 402's unless I was going to try the MEH idea. I have no intention of doing so at this time and the 402 remains the king of the hill in my book.
  18. Had a chance to get one of my favorite speakers to play with last week. So while cleaning it up and fixing it up I decided to try a set of LMAHL's like the custom set made for a customer recently. As an aside here the only thing that beats a Chorus 1 in my book is a KP-301 and so I really like restoring these. Anyway painted black and with no engraving because two forum members wore me down with incessant whining. Well they weren't that bad but I get to be a martyr this way. They came to me with no grilles and with the little circle thing which I have to admit I like also.
  19. DCX464 + B&C crossovers sound good on K-402 horns and sound bad on ME464. PA sound should be self explanatory as to quality and sound. The only hope for the B&C DCX464 + ME464 combo is to go active.
  20. I don't know about all that. Over on Audiogon they tell me horns do not sound good.

    YouTube TV.....

I don't have great download speeds but I do have a good alternative. Youtube Video and Audio Down loader is a Firefox add-on that allows you to download, without commercials, unless they are embedded in the video like a recorded TV show would have. There are various resolutions you can choose including 4k if it is there to begin with. While you are doing something the download marches on and you have it for later both saved and hi-res for use. You can also down load just the audio and after running it through Audacity I have had some really good results.
  22. I think you meant if he put his head inside the horn it would be surround sound.
  23. Yes and it was this specific piece that got me to build my Super MWM's. I stumbled across Valeri recently and he has lots of bass at times too.
  24. Yes they were meant to be stackable with each other. KP-480 footprint is 23.875" wide and 24" deep. The LSI was 24" wide and 24.75" deep. Best LSI or La Scala setup I have ever had. KP-480.pdf
