  1. How about some close up's of each veneer? Beautiful room and setup. I could see Boxx in that room turning around in a chair and laying a witty line on us. I am honored that the picture of my stereo made you think of Boxx. Here is a close up. Edit to add second picture.
  2. Mods...how to move Budman's post down below this one..? Khornukopia, please consider my offer to purchase your speakers FIRST, should you ever decide to sell them. Thank you very much. You are a funny guy! Say, don't you already have a pair of K-horns. Two pairs will make me question your sanity.
  3. I hope that I never need to sell my Rosewood Klipschorns, so that someday I might be able to give them to friends who will also never sell them.
  4. I am flattered by your opinion, especially considering that you have seen the Klipsch Museum collection.
  5. Thanks, and you are correct about the Rosewood.
  6. Sometimes I walk around the room enjoying the speakers for a while before I remember to turn on the music.
  7. The lack of ideal corners was the impetus for the make-over of the room, otherwise it would just be another room with speakers in the corners. BTW, I like the look of your Palladiums.
  8. I appreciate your compliment, as you are a fellow K-horn owner, and famously prolific audio equipment shopper with a keen eye.
  9. Thanks, and I just read about your recently purchased ribbon striped Mahogany Belles. Very cool.
  10. Yes it does sound nice, and by placing some bass traps in the back of the room, I am able to get a smooth "house curve" on my frequency response.
  11. Thanks for the kind words. The darker pair is labeled KB-RL (Rosewood Lacquer). The lighter color pair is labeled KB-BRL (Brazilian Rosewood Lacquer), is an iridescent golden brown and has brighter lighting.
  12. The original room corners do not aim my Klipschorns at the desired listening positions, so I assembled some freestanding corners made from 45mm thick, solid core wood door slabs. Fastening two slabs together and securely attaching a triangular base builds a rigid corner without needed any framework. This is primarily a 2 channel listening setup featuring my tri-amped Klipschorns, the extra speakers just give me more options.
  13. Giant Reign X1 6.7 inches of suspension travel
  14. Maybe now I can think of these as a horn-loaded headset. Just trying to be funny.
  15. REW measurements will help you decide where the acoustic panels will be most effective, if you do before and after readings while positioning them, following the good advice in the above posts. Doing the treatments you describe, even without measurements, will be randomly beneficial to your listening room. The Whispertone wallboard specs are similar to the material used under the fabric covered walls of commercial movie theaters. You are starting out with the right ideas.
  16. As a follow up, I want to say thanks to the advice and guidance of the Klipsch forum, installing and adjusting the active crossover system was easier than I would have thought before starting the project. I also imagined I would be experimenting with many more different crossover parameters, but it has worked so well and been maintenance free that the only adjustments I have done for months is of the volume control. Slightly off topic, but reading the forums has a tendency to make me want to "improve" something, so I decided to put some Crites CT-125 tweeters in my other K-horns with the passive AK-2 networks. After installing a Crites tweeter in one speaker, I did some left channel, right channel comparisons in mono. Interesting observation is that the Crites CT-125 measured a couple db SPL louded than the K-77, but they did not seem to sound louder in my acoustically treated room. I like them well enough to keep the Crites and I will store the K-77s, so I can always return my speakers to OEM condition. I chose not to install the Crites CT-125s into my tri-amped speakers because the digital electronic crossover there gives me the option to choose from a wider SPL variety of high quality tweeters. P.S. When replacing a tweeter or wires in a K-horn, it is just as easy to remove the six screws holding the top panel as it is to work in the confines of the top hat.
  17. Here is another picture of the Lacewood veneer. I looked at and listened to a pair of 60th anniversary Klipschorns, and the wood grain pattern was very similar.
  18. Yes. They are in the Cornwall II cabinets. Is yours a 1960's - 70's Cornwall II ? Most of the 1986 - 1990 Cornwall II have crossover networks that look like this one mounted to the speaker terminal cup.
  19. Rosewood Klipschorn. Picture was sent to me from a Klipsch dealer a few years back.
  20. Thanks for sharing pictures and comments about your crossovers. Your system looks good. I am also interested in what you think of the B&C DCM50 midrange compression drivers compared to the Selenium D405.
  21. An easy thing to do is take some black fabric and tuck it under one side grill of your K-horn, tighten that grill, then pull the fabric across the front of the speaker and under the other side grill and tighten its wing nuts. Then loosen the tophat wing nuts and tuck the fabric between the bass bin and the tophat.
