    Triangle sub

Hi all, I was thinking about building a triangle subwoofer to mimic the rt-12d or rt-10d (I think I can build it cheaper than purchasing it). I have a corner spot in my living room that would be perfect, but there is an oversized chair kiddycorner there. I could easily put a sub there and it would pass the wife's approval because she wouldn't be able to see it. My concern is putting a sub right behind a chair like that. Would the chair absorb too much sound? It would also be sitting underneath a corner table with a lamp and a couple of pictures. I figured I may need to put dynomat on the underside of the table. Would this be worth doing? This would be too run along with my cambridge soundworks psw1 master and slave set. They sound great, but I'm curious of I could get to lower frequencies with this?
  2. Yea, they were all home theater receivers set to 2 channel.
  3. I can't wall mount the tv, there are two windows directly behind the tv
  4. Please ignore the cat toys, especially the boxes around the room for the cat. The smaller speakers are KLF20s, but they are not staying there for too much longer. I kept them there after I put the KLF30s in place so I could A+B compare them for other people.
  5. My father keeps suggesting that I get a reference center channel that is meant for TVs to sit on. I know next to nothing on the reference series stuff. I have a 60" tv currently. For my fronts, I am running KLF 30s and a kv-3 center. The center channel sits on the floor pointed up to the main listening position. I don't have room for the center channel in or on my tv stand, that's why it rests on the floor. I know that the KLF c7 it's the center channel that would match in timbre, but that is way too big. I bought an academy argue back, but the wife vetoed the size of it very quickly, so I ended up getting the kv3. I know that the reference series don't really match the KLF series, but is it really bad? The center channel can't be too big, so we aren't looking up too much at the tv. Thanks for any help you can offer.
  6. So I purchased my belles about a year and a half ago, as many of you know. The belles never sounded good until recently when my friend brought over a vintage Sony amp, which I immediately bought from him. The speakers sound great now. I originally hooked them up to my old harman kardon receiver, my father's onkyo, and his old integra receiver and they didn't sound good, but this old 30 watts per channel Sony makes them sing beautifully. Why? My father bought a pair of kg2s and the same thing happens. On his onkyo, they sound terrible, but on his vintage parasound, they sound great. My KLF 10s,20s,and 30s sound great on my old harman kardon and my new denon. So is the common denominator the age of the speaker needs to match the amp? We would love to have a better understanding of this, so thanks for your help.
  7. I don't have a tv near my 2 channel set-up, so I can't use a Blu-ray player. Has anyone checked out the MUZO cobblestone? It seems like just what I'm looking for, just not sure if it has a good quality audio output.
  8. I don't have a budget, I wasn't looking to upgrade, until he said I have first dibs at this receiver. The Sony sounds awesome with the belles, just curious if I should jump on the marantz.
  9. I'm looking for a streaming audio device that's good for 2 channel output. I was thinking about buying a kindle fire, but I need to leave it hooked up. The Logitech squeezebox duet looks pretty good. Ideally I want something that can do Amazon prime music, as well as Pandora, other streaming services, and dlna for my own mp3s.
  10. Thanks for the info. He was told the marantz didn't work, so it's going to his friend first who will repair it, then we will see how much he wants for it.
  11. I have a pair of Belle Klipsch speakers that sound amazing. I am running them with an old Sony TA-1144 receiver. My friend offered me first dibs on a Marantz 2250B receiver that he is picking up this weekend along with a McIntosh tube amp. I really like the bass that is able to come out of my Belles with this amp. Is it worth upgrading? Will I still be able to get the same amount of bass with the Marantz? Thanks
  12. Thank you. We have them singing beautifully now. My friend brought over a vintage Sony receiver from the 70s. That was the biggest difference. I bought it from him instantly, and I am so happy. These are amazing. We opened the woofer hatch area to check it out. I was wondering if we should stuff speaker insulation behind the woofers, if that would add any bass. They have a surprisingly amount of bass already, but one can always have more bass.
  13. I'm changing my answer Belles KLF 30s KLF 20s We have my belles singing beautifully now. My friend brought over a vintage Sony receiver from the 70s. That was the biggest difference. I bought it from him instantly, and I am so happy. These belles are amazing.
  14. I use this, and it definitely gets rid of noise. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000SXWGAQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1455731317&sr=8-1π=SY200_QL40&keywords=power+conditioner+5300
  15. When you a+b compare the KLF 20s and KLF 30s, it is really night and day. I already owned KLF 10s and KLF 20s, but when I found the set of KLF 30s, I jumped on it. We had to reglue one of the speakers (the front and back panels were mostly unglued. When we finally put it back together and put them side by side with the 20s using an old Yamaha m40 amp to a+b then, it was unbelievable. The 30s fill the room tremendously compared to the 20s. If you listen to the 20s, they sound really good, then go to the 30s, it's amazing. When you listen to the 30s, then go to the 20s, the 20s sound like crap for a little bit until you get used to it. Also I didn't own the set of chorus speakers, I heard then at a friend's house. I have a set of belles, but I can't get them to sound great. I have replaced the crossovers with Crites, but something is still not right.

  17. I am doing a favor for a friend and building him a pair of cornwall 1 cabinets. He already has the drivers and crossovers. We think we are going to be using birch 3/4" plywood for the cabinets. I guess my biggest question is what to use for adhesive? I use titebond 3 wood glue for all of my work, but wasn't sure if that is best for speakers. I have read people using pl premium for adhesive. I used liquid nail to repair my KLF 30s a couple of weeks ago. Any suggestions on adhesive and the build itself would be much appreciated. Thank you
  18. Where can I find one of these test tone disk's?
  19. I just listed these on ebay and I figured I would post the links here if anyone was interested. Thanks for looking http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RC-25-RC25-Reference-Home-Theater-Center-Channel-/301353899474?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item462a1795d2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RS-25-RS25-Reference-Home-Theater-Surround-Sound-Rear-Speakers-/301353913889?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item462a17ce21
  20. Well, they will never be in a carpeted room in this house since my entire first floor is hard wood. Do you think it will make a difference if I put the speakers on a carpeted mat?
  21. I had my subwoofer crossed-over at 80Hz, and I had the Belles crossover at 60Hz I think. I changed the setting for 80Hz on all of my speakers now, with the sub at 80Hz as well. I am running KLF20s for my fronts, KLF10s for my sides, some small Polk Audio for rears and a Polk Audio center. The Belles are still in the basement getting a make over. I used rejuvenating oil on them, now I just need to wax them, but last time I waxed them, it didn't work out too well, so I need help, so it may be awhile. Thanks for your suggestions.
  22. We had them temporarily setup in my living room, so they were not properly setup in the corners, probably away from the wall about 2-3 feet. I have hard wood floors, sheetrock walls and ceiling. I don't have any acoustic treatments in the room. All of the drivers were definitely working, not sure if they were properly working, but sound IS coming from all three parts. I am not expecting a ton of bass from these, I use an old Cambridge Soundworks PSW1 subwoofer. The speakers put out a low frequency that sounded out of a sub, but was lacking in higher frequencies that should still come out of the 15" woofer. It sounds like there are some frequencies or an octave or something missing from the speakers.
  23. Hi, I am new to the forum. My father got me into Klipsch when I was a kid and he bought his KG3.5 speakers. He then gave them to me when he upgraded to KLF10s. Well me and my father have been on a Klipsch frenzy and we have both been searching ebay and craigslist regularly for Klipsch speakers as of late. He bought a pair of KG.5s and a pair of KG4.5s. I bought a pair of Klipsch Belle's from someone. I have been busy cleaning up the wood, trying to restore the color. We hooked them up to my Harmon/Kardon AVR247 receiver which I believe is 50 watts per channel. The speakers sounded like a good speaker, but didn't WOW us at all. We hooked it up to my father's Onkyo TX-NR717 which I believe is 110 watts per channel and we still were not Wowed at all. I have upgraded the crossovers to a pair from Bob Crites and still nothing great. In the mean time, I bought a pair of KLF10s and a pair of KLF20s from some craigslist ads which sound great. I am looking for advice about what to do to make the speakers sing like I have read that they can. I would love to use these in my existing setup, home theater or just 2 channel. Are we just not getting enough wattage to them? I would be willing to save up some money (just spent a lot in speakers in the last 2 months) for a separate 2 channel amp for the Belles. My problem is I just don't want to spend more money on this "theory" of a great sounding speaker. I have never heard Belles before. I bought these and they didn't sound great, so I got a decent deal on them thinking I could make it better. Any help would be appreciated on this, thanks.
