  1. Kick *** Tom. Sounds like a fun project... but way too much for this lazy man. have fun. ken ------------------ Heresys and Synergys
  2. So I finally got turned onto Sarah McLaughlin... took me long enough huh? Her voice is so amazingly beautiful thru these Heresys. So soothing and peaceful and with out attitude. Im in awe of her talent and how she comes thru these speakers. My question is.... what other chicks should I check out? Im looking for acoustic type stuff, guitar or piano. Mellow mood style stuff. Im not real into the r & b type sound. cheers, ken ------------------ Heresys and Synergys
  3. Yo! yeah the okc zoo amp. was pretty chill. You ever hit the Tulsa shows? One thing with sci is consistancy of quality shows. pH used to pull it off but that seemed to end 97. Tinely Park 97 was garbage, after that things faded to a lesser consistancy but hey I was hooked. Next year would be 20 yrs for them, so I expect them to play. Who would miss an aniversary like that? There are moments I will never forget with the closest of friends. You know.... we've probably been to a bunch of the same shows. Creek, Alpine, Riverport, Tinely, Sandstone, Lakewood..... you on the cheese listserv? keep it green, Ken
  4. Getting older here, yet not old fart material, but I have a growing appreciation for classical music. Particulary piano solo stuff, possibly my favorite instrument. ken
  5. Hi dudes. Im reading here that Heresys need to be on the floor near a wall or a corner. Can someone tell me how far from the wall? thank you. ken
  6. Heya Dnd, I totally agree with you.... SHN rules. Ive been downloading the suckers since '99 and this Paul Mccartney show is probably one of the best I have yet to hear. The audio quality is simply superb. Alot of times some of the audience recordings can suck. Soundboards are were its at. Paul's show is soundboard and just such a rocking show. I'll burn copies for anyone who might want it.. for blanks and postage. String Cheese is another great band. They throw it down everytime they hit Oklahoma. Saw their okc show a few weeks ago. Totally smoking show. Encore was a fast paced I Know You Rider bluegrass style. Btw.. the SCI Matrix soundboards are also some of the finest available. Get any matrix sbds you see. Sometimes I think I wouldnt mind if Phish never come back as long as the Cheese will play on. Errr.. what am I saying. I miss phish alot... but frankly I needed the hiatus as much as them. Missing Jerry? You bet. Cant believe its 7yrs next month. Did ya hear about Mike Houser from Panic? He's off tour and not doing so well with terminal pancreatic cancer. Bloody sad. ken
  7. Thanks dudes. Yeah its definately a U. #108U518 and 108U520. Not bad for 22yr old speakers. ken
  8. 1. What Heritage speakers have you owned, currently own, or want to own?Heresy's 2. What was your age when you first purchased a Heritage series loudspeaker? 30 3. What is your current age? 30 4. Why did you choose Heritage loudspeakers over another Klipsch model? Word of mouth and its reputation. 5. If you currently own some Heritage loudspeakers, and could purchase some more Klipsch speakers(new or used), which ones would you purchase? Why? Need some SS-1s to finish up my SF-1, and SC-1 HT set. In the future...years off..would like to graduate up the Heritage line for 2 channel use. 6. Do you think the upcoming Jubilee should become part of the "Heritage" line, since it was also designed by PWK? yes
  9. Hello music fans, Today was a wierd day. Woke up with a major urge to drop by the pawn shop. I have one down the road from me that carrys a ton of vintage guitars and such. Its a pretty special hole in the wall... even more so after today. Walk in... browse the audio gear and stumble upon a pair of Heresys and about shite thy shorts. Nice shape and a $329 price tag. After inspecting them and hearing them I decide I'll take them home. The salesman tells me they put them out only an hour earlier. Offers them to me for $320 including sales tax. First impression of them so far is they are great. I had been running a pair of SF-1s as my 2 channel speakers. Serious lack of bass with them. The Heresy's are putting out more than enough. Im noticing alot more music than ever before. The most noticable differce is I can hear each instrument, I can hear both Jerry and Bob so much easier. Next upgrade is to find a cheap Fisher or Scott to use while I $$$$ave up for monoblocks, preamp, turntable and all that fun stuff. http://hometown.aol.com/grubbymc/index.html I believe the wood is Walnut, is that correct? The serial number on one speaker reads...108?518... to me it looks like 108u... or it could be 1084... are these 1984s? Also, how far appart should they be.. sofa to tv is 8feet. thanks. 10. Theres also a ton of history about the two, how they met, etc on the disc. Plus tons of beautiful music, I really dug the song from the childrens albumb they recorded. stay kind. ken
  11. Hey y'all, I had a chance to rent 'Grateful Dawg' a few months back. Some seriously great on stage moments. Worth a watch for any fan. I've also seen it at Best Buy at a reasonable price. cheers, ken
  12. Hey y'all, http://www.gdlive.com/newshows/celebration/p-mccartney90-07-04_sssb.shn/ theres a link to a sweet Mccartney show from 1990. Not supposed to be released I believe but this soundboard was liberated. The recording is clean and the show is a rocker. Highly recommended. The show is hosted in .shn format which is like a .zip'd wav file. I can help with converting if anyone downloads it. Shn's are large and you'll need dsl or cable to download it. ken p.s. any deadheads here? today marks 7 yrs since the last show. I miss that fat man. I just fired up View from the Vault II and the water pipe is next. stay kind.
  13. I just had to say... those turned out beautiful! How I envy thee with wood working skills. Nice job. ken
  14. I recently discovered my grandfathers incredible vinyl collection. He had way to many showtune records, but plenty of jazz mixed in. Favorite find so far is Ella Fitzgerald Live in Paris. She can sing wow. I cant wait to get tubes and heresys set up.
  15. Freedom is a beautiful thing.
  16. Cluless, hmmmmm 1992? if so I was there with ya. I could never see such a depressing band ever again. But at the time it was the best thing. Last weekend I saw String Cheese Incident, probably my 10th time seeing them. Such an incredible band, a blend of hardcore jazz, rock, and bluegrass, and extended jamming. They have some of the best sound guys in the biz running their sound. I just have to urge all music fans to go see these guys play. They are constantly touring the country. Just my opinion but this is the next generation Grateful Dead. Their shows are a musical journey and the energy level is extreme. keep groovin' ken
  17. Screw work, lets go on tour. So many bands, so little time. Sadly reality set in a few years ago and the days of summer on the road are probably over for ever. Although I am cruising down to Dallas for Ziggy Marley in 2 weeks. If I could only be 20 again.... ken
  18. when I was 16 I was mowing yards in my parents neighborhood and making alot of cash for my age. only way to succeed in life is to set goals and figure out a way to accomplish them. same thing with high end audio gear. good luck.. ken
  19. if you'd like to drive to Tulsa, OK I will gladly trade you my SF-1s for the Hereseys. Hell I might even toss in an SC-1. Its only a 10hr drive .... lol. Ken
  20. thanks for the replies. I did pull the heavy sucker off the shelf for a look but was rushed. At quick glanced it looked like a tube amp to me. But I dont know much Looks like I'll be waiting for something else now. thanks. ken
  21. Howdy Guys, found an McIntosh MA-5100 amp today at the pawn shop. I was flying by when fate made me slam on my breaks to look inside. Been reading alot about tube amps lately and decided I want one and a pair of Hereseys. heres to links to pictures of this amp: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1361622599 http://www.retroaudio.ru/mcintosh/integ/MA-5100.shtml the one I looked at today had the wood cabinet like the ebay picture above. But the amp I looked at was in spotless condition. I'd say mint but I didnt get to plug it in yet. It looked very well cared for, not even any dust. Price tag on it was $550. Assuming this thing is in working condition, would you consider this a good buy? Could my Synergy SF-1s handle this amp? I did ask the guy if he could deal on it, and he declined at the time as it had just arrived in the store. What do you guys think? Get this or save up more and buy a kit. I appreciate any advice, Im new to this but crave dank sound. many thanks. ken
  22. I agree completely. If I could get the klf's at a good price I might consider it, but right now I have my heart set on some Hersheys.
  23. I was actually amazed to see some nicer equipment. Nad, Adcom, HK, and Klipsch. They had a HK AVR 500 for $475, not too sure thats a good deal. The unit appears to be from '99. Anyway, I got to check out a pair of KLF 30s up close. Jesus they are large but they sounded beautiful. Price tag of $1100 but could probably be had cheaper. The speakers are in Tulsa, OK. if anyone is interested speak up. ken
  24. I highly recommend to everyone Trey Anastasio's new album. Its actually his first solo album away from Phish. He's playing with a 11 piece band with a full horn section. This isnt your typical rock cd. Feel good music at its best. The album is a journey from rocking songs to instrumentals. Trey can rip it up, but he knows how to mellow it out. Trey Anastasio by Trey Anastasio. I dare ya to try it ken~~
  25. Thanks for all the replies guys. Lots of things to consider. Im starting to think audio might be the way to go. I listen to alot of concert dvds and would like to get into the audio 5.1 discs too Which ever I buy the other part will follow within 2 months. Im in an appartment and dont have space for a projector. I'd also prefer a physical tv. I am somewhat on a budget, modest but it will rock my little world. My home theater will consist of: 47" Panny Denon or HK reciever $500 range. SF-1s (have) SS-1s SC-1 (have) Sub. $400 range. im considering the Synergy 10". Im open to suggestions on recievers and subwoofers. great forum. thanks dudes. Ken
