  1. Why not just get the Crites crossovers? Much better cost and seem to sound great.
  2. These are kind of cool and funny. Anyone have any similar old newspaper stereo ads? Post them.
  3. Any number of klipch speakers will sound great with that receiver. Depends on the music you like. The Hersey I've heard seemed a little weak on the low end but they are very clear. If you like it loud and clear the chorus and larger ones are nice. From what I have read the Fortes are a very good balance. They deliver good sound from low levels and loud and have good bass.
  4. BTW I love those old Dual turn tables. I had one back in HS.
  5. I've never known that a cartridge or needle needs any break it. Its just a stick attacked to magnetic or coils that wiggle back and forth. Now the needles can wear down and eventually sound harsh. Capacitors don't need break in either. I've looked at the waveform of a new needle vs that needle after many plays and its the same. I think you just get use to the new sound after so many plays.
  6. Sure, I had my KG4s outside on the deck, they play fine. I mean plastic speakers might be better in rain but they don't sound any better.
  7. Problem with that. DSD is 1-bit with a 2.8224 MHz sampling rate. Above is PCM, not DSD. Dave Dave is DSD better than PCM, I am not sure which is better DSD - 1-bit with a 2822.4 KHz sampling rate. (I converted Mhz to Khz so we are looking at same units) PCM - 24-bit with a 352.8 Khz sampling rate. 1 bit but has almost 10x the sampling rate vs high bit (24) with lower sampling rate.
  8. If buying a NEW receiver for 2 channel the best bang for the buck is the outlaw audio. I have one and would buy it again. Read up on it. https://www.outlawaudio.com/products/rr2150.html Otherwise you can hit the used market.
  9. The price right now is just not worth it for me. I had a SACD player, never used it much, still use CDs and vinyl CD is good enough for my old ears. If the price comes down then yea sure why not.
  10. Wow that is big. So these are not only for streaming? You can put them on your hard drive like MP3s? I would think that is about as good as anyone would need. I have a hard time telling a 320mp3 vs the CD.
  11. DSD hugh, I don't know much about it other than its a new higher def streaming that is better than mp3. How big are the files of a typical song? In Megabytes if you would. Ugh I see crooked Sony is behind the technology.
  12. I purchased a set of Chorus 1s about a month ago. Since then I've changed out the mid-range and tweeters (Crites) and also changed the ports from stock 1" to 7" (more bass) I think they sound pretty great right now. I did not change the crossovers and was wondering what to expect if I did? I did do the crossovers in my KG4s and well I did not think there was much of a difference over stock. Curious on any comments from people that have either recapped or bought a new crossover. Thanks
  13. Chorus KG4 2.1 PC speakers (terrible) changed over to Swan 2.1
  14. The question is can you take a R and L channel of the amp and run 1 speaker from it? I've never tried it but if it can be done why not try it. It will drop the ohms from 8 to 4 and put a little more strain on the amp. It might sound fine for TV shows, never know unless you try it. For just TV not stereo records it might sound fine.
  15. I would get the newer La Scala IIs, newer crossovers, new drivers, new everything. Why not get the IIs?
  16. Look like nice turntables and the price probably is on par if you want 1980s quality which is going to cost some in 2016.
  17. Just put them on Ebay "As is" for $10.00 starting bid. 2,000 shipping.
  18. I got some sewell banna plugs and while they fit my klipsh and amp well they do not fit well in the back of my Definitive Tech Speakers. They don't go all the way in, its like the hole is too shallow. I don't see shorter ones, what gives? Whats the point of putting that type of a connector on a speaker if the plugs are all too long for them? Maybe I missed it, are there shorter ones for speakers like this?
  19. How did you pull that A/B comparison off? That is a large volume of big speakers to A/B. Why did the K horn sound better to you? Was it a subtle type of hmmm let me here the chorus again, hhmmmm well let me hear the K horn, ummmm well, yea I guess I like the K-horn on this type of music but.... Or was it a NOT EVEN CLOSE THEY ALL PALE in comparison.
  20. Seems like many people are missing out on the big speaker experience, I was. I remember way way back in HS one of my friends older brother saved and saved and got a pair of huge klipsch speakers. Not sure the model, it was early 80s All I remember was they had a huge woofer and horns and sounded big and clear. Many years and speakers later (all small ones) there was always something missing, sure they were clear but they were missing something. I'm liking these Chorus Speakers they have that sound that was missing from the smaller speakers. Yes I have a V8 in my LR too.
  21. Oh I agree they are not totally useless. You can look at the speakers then imagine how good they will sound when you get them.
  22. I know what you're getting at, but not exactly true. You can tell a lot about how a speakers sounds from these videos based off of the room reverb. You can also get a basic idea of the general "voice" of the speaker. For example, look up the video of the Palladium P-39s at the Munich high end audio expo. You can easily hear the room reacting during the Metallica song. Oh so my PC speakers will let me know how good those speakers sound in real life? I never said that you can't tell something about them from a video just saying that its not going to be anywhere close to being there. I would not watch a you tube video to demo speakers to purchase.
  23. Making a long you tube recording of nice speakers makes no sense. They can only sound as good as your pc speakers or what ever speakers you have at home. Its not going to sound like being the room with them or anything close to it.
  24. That is nice Jim, but this is about the people that do have extra things or toys, you do not which is fine but not on topic. You only assume I didn't....and my comment is completely on topic, but gee, sorry to bother you. Jim I put a smile face on it so you would not get upset but I guess I should have put two smiles in. I just did not want this to turn into some kind of pure 2 channel vs gadgets discussion. If you have tried some please post on why you did not like them if you like.
