  1. that version is bad a-ss
  2. Thanks for the kind words. It sounds really good, also. I wish I could just be about the music but being a pro photographer for many years I need the room to look and sound fantastic. It can not be one or the other.
  3. excited that possible new Fortes may be coming very soon - Forte 4's
  4. My current system fills the entire space I have available for my audio/video gear. I do share my dedicated 2 channel setup with my HT setup with Fortes, HSU Subwoofer and integrated amp and AVR. Add my subwoofer up front along with my vinyl setup and Super Heresys for my rear surrounds. My wife is cool with my gear taking up most of the living room but does not want the speakers extending past the wall openings and I agree. I was excited when I thought the Cornwalls could possibly work but I probably just need to stay off the Klipsch forum until I can just get over the idea of upgrading - I guess I'll just buy new tubes for my Integrated instead - burning a hole in my pocket wanting some new gear - lol - If that wall was just another foot longer I could almost make the Cornwalls work but...
  5. the 404C is not a very inexpensive center speaker and its actually very capable - I still think there is something not quite right with Rons 404C as mine made watching the TV much more enjoyable than the KEF center I had been using and dialogue much clearer and crisper than just using the fortes and running them phantom.
  6. Ok so due to lack of room for the Cornwall 4s I will be keeping my Fortes even though my wife gave me the green light to move up - I think the Fortes with my subwoofer will still sound better than just the Cornwalls without a sub and there is no way to fit that all in my small living room - Drat!!!! Moving right along!!!!
  7. Do Cornwall 4s need a subwoofer - with my fortes and my sub woofer it sounds great but if I get Cornwall 4s my subwoofer will no longer fit - do the cornwalls go to those lowest octaves?
  8. Claude is a crazy artistic man driven by extremes! I do agree though that every set of speakers needs a good subwoofer. I have a fairly large HSU sub under my desk to go with my LS50s wireless speakers and I love the sound of this system. If I had a larger desk in my office I could get one of those Danley spud subwoofers lol
  9. The imaging in near field listening on the LS50 Wireless at my office desk location is simply fantastic. I wish I could get that great of imaging out of my living room setup but there is a lot more going on between me and my speakers in that room and i am obviously farther away there
  10. I have a pair of the LS 50s Wireless Active speakers and they sound fabulous. I have never heard the passive LS50 versions.
  11. So how do they compare with the KEF lbs 50s - I have the KEF Ls50 wireless and love them
  12. They were still sitting there - my my- oh my - Upscale has a lot of great equipment.
  13. Looks much better to me in black and I’m more island style than oversized large furniture style aka FRUMPY lmfao
  14. The Tannoy speakers we saw at Upscale are beautifully constructed and woodwork and metal work looks very high end but they are too ornate for my wife and my taste. Looks like speakers you might find in a more formal frumpy retirement home. But whatever floats your boat. Lol - I’m sure piano black would look much more contemporary.
  15. Kevin's videos are pretty funny sometimes and he does love his Tannoy speakers. They sound really good in his listening room at Upscale and are beautifully made but I still think they look frumpy.
  16. I prefer my Fortes to the Tannoy I listened to and found the Tannoy sounded best even further out in the room. Again - The Tannoy sound very good but sound is a subjective thing and i think the Fortes feel more like a live dynamic experience.
  17. The Schiit Loki is a very small graphic equator - quiet and easily switched in and out depending --- my rig sounds great without it but some records can benefit from the tone controls it offers. Not a huge difference or required but it can add or subtract to dial in the soundstage depending on the recording. - Totally worth the $149 I paid for it, IMHO and totally eliminates the need for my integrated amp to have tone controls built in.
  18. I liked the Cheviots I heard at Upscale very much but was actually surprised how much more ALIVE my Forte 1s sounded once I hooked the PL up to them. Even better now that I have Dave A's Lmahl Tweeters -- just a different energy - but I could easily live with the Tannoy if Klipsch did not exist
  19. Tannoy speakers sound incredible. I think they look frumpy but they do sound amazing. Upscale Audio carries them and when I auditioned my Primaluna amp they played thru Tannoys and they blew my mind.
  20. For less than $200 you can add a Schiit Equalizer to your PL setup. I use one with my Turntable setup and use the built in equalizer in my Node 2i although I usually listen to both almost FLAT. I also have a large HSU sub and filling in those lower octaves makes all the difference in the world.
  21. I can’t really hear a big difference between NOS and OS and also don’t hear much of a difference between phase on or off but perhaps the positive phase setting presents a deeper soundstage - it’s very subtle. All I know for me is that the Pontus sounds much more analogue than other dacs I have heard. Far less sheen and electronic sounding glare.
  22. I have played tidal mqa files and side by side cd quality files and I can’t hear the difference. Therefore I didn’t require an mqa enabled DAC when I was DAC shopping.
