  1. Thank You EMMR & Derrick, all he said was transformer on the phone message so don't know which one it was. I'll get details when he gets to work. So a bad transformer could have ruined the tubes? Should run 24/7 for a year? So mine ran continuously for 2-3 days. Something isn't right... So it must not be all the tubes for $300, I'll find out... Bill
  2. Brand new from an approved McIntosh dealer. I'll report back after I talk to him tomorrow.... One time I accidentally left it on for 8 hours. Including those 8 hours II wouldn't be a bit surprised if the amp didn't have any more than 50 hours on it... Thank You! Bill
  3. Thank you! By the time I got the message it was to late to call him back but his message said "unfortunately you needed a new set of tubes". So my guess is a 'set' is all the tubes? I'll find out tomorrow. I read the link on the vintage tubes although to late as the tubes have already been replaced. Or maybe I'll use the amp that's just got fixed for the low's & replace the tubes in my other 275 for the highs? Should they be giving me back my old tubes? Thanks! Bill
  4. It was 80 days from the day I bi-amped my Jubscala's with a second Mc275 to the day it quit working. I took it back to the McIntosh dealer that I bought it from to be fixed & he sent it off. Just got a phone message from him today saying there were two problems. An open transformer & it was under warrantee so fixed for free & bad tubes but the warrantee is up. So I own $300 for the tubes. He said the tubes had extreme wear on them. Asked if I leave it on for long periods of time. One time I left the house & it was on for 8 hours but other than that only when I play it. And I don't really listen to it that often. Just 2 channel, no surround sound. Is this possible? Thank You! Bill
  5. I'm in So Cal & paid $1000 for my commercial La Scala's... And when I bought them there were a few for sale in the $1100-1200 range... $1650 is way to much...
  6. So took my amp into the McIntosh dealer last Monday, he said the repair guy would pick it up on Tuesday & he'd call me either Tuesday or Wednesday to let me know what was going on. Well, Saturday rolled around & I still hadn't heard from him so I called. He knew nothing, said he'd call the guy & call me back. Yeah, you guessed it. He didn't call back... Hope this doesn't turn into a disaster...
  7. Thank You Chris & Tom! Putting a 'one watt sine wave' into the amps is way over my head as is using a SPL meter with 1/3 octave. But, I'll call Crown tech support & ask them to walk me through clearing the internal settings & then try it by just adjusting the volume. I messed with it a little the other day & somehow set something up that I can't clear. Thanks again! Bill
  8. Nothing is on except the light telling me it's plugged in. ...
  9. Thank You for all the replies! Ok, found the receipt & it's the amp I bought new not the store demo one. I called em & they had me run through a procedure. Turn on the auto off switch, unplug the amp, wait 2 minutes, plug it back in, turn the auto off switch off & then turn the unit on. But it still didn't go on. I then checked the only user serviceable fuse & it was good. The guy said it probably wasn't the fuse but I checked it anyway. There's a 90 warrantee on Tubes & 3 years on the rest & he said to bring it in. Said that if only one tube is bad it might not turn on but I thought the tubes lit up a different color if they were bad (it's a Mc275 MK VI). The salesperson did say he didn't know much about tube problems but said he was surprised because they were relatively trouble free. Guess he lied, hug? Lol... I should probably consider going to SS. I don't want to be messing with stuff all the time... And I plugged the amp that doesn't work into the same electrical socket that the good amp was plugged into. And the settings on the bad amp are set the same as the good amp... I bought the amp in May so the warrantee on the tubes is up but he said not to worry about it. That he thought Macintosh would cover any bad tubes.... Thanks again! Bill
  10. Ventura, California... Ventura County... 60 miles north of LA... Are you at the Lake Mary that's by Mammoth Lakes?
  11. Thank You Dtel, I should have explained more. I'm passive with a Xilica 4080. I can hook up both 402 horns to the Mc275. But can I just run both cables from my pre-amp into my Crown & then hook up both my Jube bins to the Crown & then just turn it on? Not even touching the setting? All this stuff pops up on the Crown display that's foreign to me.... Thanks again! Bill
  12. Thank You! No smell at all. It looks pretty involved to take the cover off. I'll go youtube it & see if it shows how. When it's plugged in the little red light that's right beside the on/off switch is on so it's getting power. I do have a pre-amp but none of the tubes are on. Nothing shows on except the little red light that shows it's plugged in. The other day when I went to turn the amp on it wouldn't go on. I checked the power cord & it was pulled out so I put it back in. I can't remember but I don't think the power switch was on when I plugged it back in but it might have been. Could this have done something? Although I've used it several times since that happened.... Thanks, Bill
  13. Thank you for answering but since I wrote this I read the owners manual, turned it on & I'm lost. I'll have to have someone do it for me.... Bill
  14. I have Jube's with 402 horns & have been bi-amping with two Mc275's. One of my Mc275's quit working so I'd like to use one Mc275 for the 402 horns & my Crown 1002 for the bass bins. What settings do I have to set on the Crown? Thank You! Bill
  15. When I hit post a page keep coming up that said it wasn't posting. Keep trying & when I looked it had posted every time even though it said it didn't... Thank You Bill
  16. Any ideas on what could be wrong? It's getting power cuz the little red power light is on. It just does nothing when I flip the on/off switch. It hasn't got that many hours on it either. I have 2 & not sure which McIntosh dealer this one came from. One was brand new in the box. The other was a show room demo which they said had very few hours on it... Got one last April the other in July or so. Any fuses? Or? Is this the right place to post this? Thank You! Bill

  18. I first got the La Scala I commercials. Guy was asking $1100, I offered him $1000 & he took it. I hooked it up to a Mc275 & it sounded great, although it was lacking bass. The main difference between the La Scala I's & La Scala II's is the II's are made with thicker wood which helps the bass. So I put 3/4" plywood on the sides & it helped the bass. I could actually tell the difference while listening to Eminem. I then upgraded to 402 horns for the mid's & high's. I have a horn sub woofer (Danley DTS-10) but haven't hooked it up yet. My system now sounds amazing! But, it's never enough for me so just the other day I ordered Jubilee's. So I'll have jubilee bass bins with 402 horns & my original La Scala's to either put in my bedroom or go for surround sound... So anyway I'd start with La Scala I's & put 3/4 plywood on the sides to help the bass.. I'd say the least expensive way to have a good sounding system. Then if you feel it necessary get a sub... Welcome to the forum... Bill
  19. I already can't believe my Jubscala's. And it's only going to get better!
  20. Pulled the trigger on Jube's today! Can't wait!
  21. Very sad... One of my all time favorites... Saw him twice a couple of years ago... Didn't go 2 weeks ago when he was local cuz I didn't want to spend the money... One of those "I'll just see him next time"...
  22. Welcome Tony! I can't say as I'm knowledgable but I am friendly! Bill
  23. www.decware.com/newsite/ULTRA.html Would this work with my active crossover for 2 channel? Speakers are bi-amped. And then just switch to 5.1 channel? I can't get the link to attach.... Thank you! Bill
