  1. After upgrading, there is no comparison. I have full, rich bass from my towers, something the 367 literally couldn't produce. My r28fs sucked the amp dry. I never had issues with distortion though. Upgrading will give you a much clearer sound. Audessey room processing really changed the way I enjoy music and movies now that I have surround. The Yamaha would make a great receiver for a couple bookshelf speakers in the garage, but if you're spending that much on your speakers, skip the center and go for something that will let you enjoy your investment. Get the center later. Something new will also pass through 4k signals which the 367 doesnt. Just my .02 Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  2. My later post clarified it was the r14s rather than r14m. I ended up buying a pair of RS-10 which should compliment my room well. And they have removable grills. I just forgot to get a wall mount for them, so I have to wait another day while it gets delivered. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks guys! Looks like I'm going to be placing an order! I should have mentioned that I'm not the biggest audiophile; but within my small circle I am. Anything other than tv speakers are fancy for my family. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  4. Current have r28f, r25c, r12sw as a system powered by a Marantz 5010. I am looking to upgrade my surrounds which are currently old satellites from an hd300 HTIB. I see that newegg has the RS-10http://www.klipsch.com/products/rs-10-surround-speaker surrounds for 79.99 each. Which would save me a cool $100+. I've read that some people suggest staying with the same series for speakers which would be the r14shttp://www.klipsch.com/products/reference-surround-sound-speakers which are currently 279 for the pair. My question is this; does anyone forsee difficulties I may have with surrounds out of a different generation that the rest of the system? Maybe I am over thinking it, but hopefully not wasting anyone's time; Thank you in advance for any guidance. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  5. It turns back on, so it's not a total failure somewhere. Hopefully a full reboot with reassessing the wiring should give me more direction. :'( Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  6. Unfortunately, my question might be moot. Was watching a show this morning and then heard a pop/thud and the thing shut off. Hoping it is just a short somewhere in my wiring, but I'm not too hopeful about that. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  7. Recently upgraded to a Marantz 5010. Which also resulted in taking it out of my entertainment stand and adding some cooling fans. My issue is that they are usb powered and the 5010's usb power is always on. Any thoughts on how to get them to switch on/off with the unit? Am I missing anything? 8. The Mechanic Resurrected. Pretty solid movie, with good action! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  9. I had a similar experience in store up here in Minnesota. Thankfully the magnolia people were vastly more knowledgeable and helpful. Still, what a mess when they can't get the displays working. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  10. I'm glad someone mentioned the planets. Mars always stuck out as a favorite when I played the clarinet. Follow Me by Muse as well as some of their earlier work and B-sides (House of the rising sun is a great cover). Feel good, feel better, feel wonderful by Prince is always a winner. The shredding solos from Dragonforce are always exceptional as well. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  11. Just upgraded my receiver from a Yamaha RX-367 to a Marantz Sr5010. I biamped the front towers. When I connected my phone for a test song or two, I though my sub was acting up, but then I realized it was all from the towers and it was straight 2.0. I understand what power means now. 12. Absolutely. As the air is colder, my understanding is that the oxygen is denser, allowing more combustion to occur. Similarly, that's why Fireworks burn brighter (but shorter) in the winter. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  13. I'm not an expert (or even a novice for that matter) with turntables, but does it have volume controls? If not, you may have a weak source. If you can amp the signal it should reduce how much you have to turn up the reciever. I'm sure smarter minds than myself will chime in shortly. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  14. What is an 'acceptable' level? I have the r28f with a r25c on an old yamaha rx367 and they get plenty loud. 200w should be more than enough to cause ear bleeding. How far away are you from your speakers? Is your receiver a 200w 2.1 or 5.1 receiver? A few more specifics would be helpful. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  15. Here's the finale of the show that I shot on new years, dang it was a cold 15 hours of set up; but totally worth it. https://youtu.be/v6QYSLqcl7I Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  16. Slightly different than my predicament. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  17. It must have been in my morning stupor that I didn't even consider googling Klipsch CES 2017. They do look outstanding though! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  18. I'm not seeing what your seeing. Or my phone is giving me different results; which has been known to happen. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  19. Those are the bookshelf speakers. I was looking at the surrounds. R14S Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  20. Does anyone know why the grills are fixed and can't be removed? I've been spying these for surrounds as I have a 3.1 system currently. It seems odd that I can't show off and match the gorgeous copper woofers with the rest of the system. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  21. Added the center channel. Helps a lot with movie dialogue. Thanks for the warm welcomes. I recently converted a good friend to upgrading his system. He's going from TV speakers to a 3.1 setup with RF82II and RC62II or RP250 I can't remember which center he chose. Should be in this week! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  22. We used to have Ikea bookshelves full of board games and memorabilia which my wife complained about being too cluttered and not belonging in the living room. I did a clean install, moved the shelves, and put the speakers up. Then she said it looks empty. Its a small concession to getting my sound system. We're reorganizing the house this weekend, so some of that may get moved again. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks! I can do without the atmos and second sub to be honest; since my room is medium sized. I'm hoping that as i advance in my career, im able to have a dedicated media room and upgrade to the reference premier (or future equivalent) with those features and relegate this system to my main living/hosting area. Pretty high aspirations for a guy with a zillion buck of student loan debt... Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  24. The 5010 does have Atmos. I see a recertified model on Amazon and Accessories4less for $500-550, which would seem to fit well, but don't know anything about recertified models. Any thoughts on if recertified models are a safe thing to get? Or a link where i can research it more? Searching on my phone isnt as helpful as i thought it would be. 25. Hello everyone! Finally I have been able to start building my home theater. Just wanted to introduce myself rather than keep lurking in the shadows. I'm no audiophile, but have always had a strong appreciation for music and soundtracks. Here's a pic of my 2.1 set up so far. R28f + R12sw Yamaha Rx-v367 (from my old HTIB) PS4 Pro Samsung 65" 4k D630 Next im looking into a new reciever to properly power these. Followed by a center channel, surrounds, atmos, and a second sub eventually. I'll be building this over the next 12-18 months hopefully. Any feedback on the Marantz Sr5010 for power and futureproofing? Id like to have something I wont need to upgrade for the next 3-5 years without bankrupting myself.
