  1. Probably a whole suite of things contributing to it (age, education/experience, DIY skills, etc.). The debut of the Forte IIIs really sparked my interest in acquiring a really nice set of speakers that I would likely pass down. I'm 34 by the way, don't know if that's old or young around these forums. So, I really liked the idea of having a brand spanking new roll-out product from Klipsch, but the more I researched and considered other options, I finally ended up with a pair of unmolested 78' La Scalas. Paid what will probably be less than half of street price for the Forte IIIs. Did I lose half of the potential sound quality or build quality for that matter? I seriously doubt it. Sure I don't have that new speaker smell or as much bass that the IIIs will put out, but I am happy. Also for consideration, not that this applies to the Klipsch family, but we unfortunately must admit, that a good majority of things manufactured today are not done so with longevity in mind.
  2. Like the rest that have chimed in, the FIIIs would get my vote if you're itching to buy something new. I would suggest bringing your 7iis back up from the basement and seeing if you like them paired with your R-115SWs better than the palladiums...although that seems a shame to relegate the palladiums to the basement due to their eye candy factor.

  4. I have never heard these and probably never will. I found their website, http://www.destinationaudio.eu/speakers.html , which lists some tech specs and more pictures, but nothing about drivers. Looks like maximum wattage is 20w. Also found a brief write up by 6moons that at least mentions the bass bin has two (2) 15-inch Alnico woofers. And finally after having this page translated, I found these specs. Three-way column horn. Bass: Bass Horn with 2 × 16 "woofers. Central Bi-Radial horn 12 cm with compression driver. Soprano: Bi-Radial horn tweeter with 44 mm. Frequency range: 35 Hz - 21.5 kHz (+/- 3 dB). Max. power consumption: 20 W. Minimum amplifier power: 1 W. Sensitivity: 106 dB (1W / 1m). Nominal impedance: 8 Ω. dimensions: Width: 105 cm. Depth: 106 cm. Height: 182 cm. Weight (net of the speakers): 250 kg

  7. Welcome, I'm a fairly new member as well, but figure I'll try to start contributing when I can. The big question I see is, why'd you pass on the La Scalas (size, condition, sound, WAF)? That and answering jimbos question should direct you to what you will build, be it either cornwall or cornscala. The $0.02 answer for the crossovers is you have AA which are for the Khorn, LaScala and Belle, specifically adding protection for the K-77 tweeter. Cornwall crossovers were type B, B-1, or B-2 depending upon year. Just a note, and it's hard to exactly tell from the picture, but the one on top of the fridge looks to have different capacitors of the oil can variety. I'd agree with jimbos recommendation of selling the AAs, assuming your going the cornwall/scala route, and build new crossovers to go with the new speakers. If it were me, I'd go with the Cornscala D model and source the parts from Crites. Take that with a grain of salt though, cause I haven't built or heard them. I own La Scalas and have heard Cornwalls though, so I do like the idea of merging the two beasts. I'm sure more will chime in.
  8. That link does in fact say "sold" on the picture; however, there's little blue text above it that says it's been relisted so it would appear these are still available.

    KG-4.2

https://www.equip-bid.com/auction/2235/item/1737 (not affiliated with this sale or website, just putting it) I think these are KG-4.2 (edited per Opusk's & jjptkd's comments - Thanks!), along with some other bookshelfs and a center. I can re-edit this post if someone is better at identifying. This is an auction style website through various vendors. I've purchased different things off of there before without problems. If you're interested, biggest thing to keep I mind is the scheduled pick up dates, which are firm. Also, unlike e-bay, you can't come in at the last second and snipe the items, I think it resets to 5 minutes if you're within the last 3 minutes of the auction.
  10. So hypothetical situation: used LS (with sub) vs. FIIIs...space not being a concern, any thoughts of pros/cons. I realize that this is probably an apples/oranges comparison (I haven't been able to hear either speaker in my lifetime), but the biggest draw to me would be probably picking up a pair of LS for about half of what the new FIIIs would be. And I already have a sub to support the LS. My brother has a pair of RF7s, which I have heard and love, so I suppose that could be another option if that would help. Thanks
  11. I've been wanting to dive into the Heritage line for awhile (eyeing Heresy iii), but I think procrastination will have paid off. Here's to hoping to have the Fiii's as my intro to Heritage. Thanks to all the input from the veterans on here, that helped cut down on my productivity at work today.
