  1. add-on Just got another reply from Dr. Bob ... QOUTE ,I am in the process of having a version of the original K-600 Cornwall horns made for me right now. So far have had the pattern made and it has been sent to a foundry for them to cast the horns in aluminum. I will be testing that horn when I get samples with the A-55G drivers on it. So, in the future, I may have a way for you to upgrade the midrange in your Cornwalls by replacing horn and driver. UNQOUTE
  2. Have had my Cornwall I's for almost 40 years and love them. But ... "community" thinks the La Scala's sound better. So; found a pair and "almost" bought them (haven't yet as they are overpriced ) Then, ran into discussions about Bob Crites' Cornscala's which seem to combine the "superior" sound of the La Scala's with the "superior" bass of the Cornwall's. So; question is can I "upgrade" my Cornwall's to these Cornscala's? (Example http://www.critesspeakers.com/cornscala-style-b.html ) Major difference is the much larger mid range horns on the Cornscala's ( Selenium D405 midrange drivers with M2380 horns; and possibly a change of the crossovers to Crites' 500/5000's). Emailed Dr. Bob about changing the motorboard and he said ... best to " built from scratch in my opinion to have all really fit right." Appreciate your thoughts/inputs. Cheers, Emile PS ... pic of Cornscala B front
  3. MookieStl, Many thanks! Worth $100; not 2 cents. But ... have owned my Cornwall's for almost 40 years ... and love them. The La Scala's need to be "much better." Cheers, Emile
  4. rah, I do the same but instead of thinking "overpaid," consider it as "doing your duty to stimulate the economy." Cheers, Emile
  5. Hi wvu80, Think I need a pair of La Scala's ... yes; like a hole in the head Found some locally for $2000 (Tampa Bay, FL). Reasonable or?? But maybe don't need them as they would replace my (just upgraded) Cornwall I's. Less base ... is the sound that much better? Many Thanks, Cheers, Emile
  6. Hi bkevind, Highly recommend the Crites Ti diaphragms on your new Forte's ... BTW; congrats! I got a pair of Forte's about a month ago and thought they were "missing something." (Did not even sound as good as my KG4's.) Yes; missing Crites Ti diaphragms ... they sound awesome now. Cheers, Emile
  7. Awesome! Does anyone actually live there? No clutter Ok; here's (part of) some of mine ... do not look at the mess Did not "clean-up before the pics
  8. AWESOME table! And ... happy Birthday! Cheers, Emile
  9. @wilbucd ... Really no clue as I do not own any Khorns. But ... need a pair badly ... so looked into your problem. Opinions vary widely (of course ). 23ft may be "too far apart." Here's a couple of links with more info: https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/klipschorn-speaker-set-up Cheers, Emile
  10. I have an Ortofon 2M Red in my MusicHall ... pretty good Of course you can spend 5-20x as much and get slightly better sound I am not a devoted "spinner" ... maybe a couple of records per month ... so it would be great to me. Those TT's usually go for $300+ used, so it is a good buy. Unless you want to spend a couple of grand. Cheers, Emile
  11. Did some post graduate work at U of Melbourne and Swinburne, so consumed a lot of Aussie wine If you do not want to make the trip over here, you can just mail us the wine Cheers, Emile
  12. I won't ... just remember a vintage amp doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. Have found many (Sansui, Technics, etc) on CraigsList and OfferUp for $50-100. Cheers, Emile
  13. Yes ... heard that before ... looking forward to your "next" upgrades
  14. Sorry, but it seems lots of people want to come and audition your system. 4 bottles is not going to make it
  15. We'll be right over. Please have some wine ready
  16. Yeah; guy found a pair of Forte I's (which turned out to be II's) and we both recommended getting them ... but seller was an a**hole. Not sure how it ended
  17. That may be a better alternative than my wife "finding them."
  18. billybob, Also got it on a remastered CD - 2003 I think. Has additional tracks (Albert's shuffle, Season of the Witch, etc ...) WITHOUT the "brass" which was added "after" the original recording, Awesome
  19. But ... now I want some Klipshorns ... how do I "hide these?"
