Yes; have used PayPal for a LOOONG time without any problems. Normally add the extra 3% for buyer protection even if told "use F&F." Got scammed a couple of times and have always gotten my money back :)

  2. Bit confused here and have not been able to find answers on the web.

Have an Onkyo TX-RZ810; standard 7.1 box with full pre-outs. If I use a 5.1 DVD, I assume that the sound on my FL/FR speakers is DIFFERENT as compared to hooking up the speakers directly to my DVD player (Oppo BVD-103). However, unable to find what is different / what is missing. (Actually, "hear" no difference as I have no clue what I am looking/listening for :) )

In my specific case, have my AVR hooked up to front L/R RC-7's, rear RB-75's, and a DIY 15" Dayton sub.

Also have KPT-904's (with JBL HF section) - hooked up directly (now) to my Oppo via RCA. Reason for doing this is that I did not want to hook these up to my AVR FL/FR pre-outs as I thought I would be missing "something" :) Especially since I play them LOUD - probably +10/20 dB's over my AVR output.

    Would appreciate any thoughts/comments.

    Cheers, Emile

  3. For "what it's worth." Have owned Forte I's and II's and was not very impressed with them; yes, not familiar with the IV's. Tried adding K-510 horns to them - overwhelmed the Forte's making them sound "inferior," like cheap bookshelf speakers.  So; if you have the correct "corners," go for KHorns - if not, settle for LaScala's.

I have no idea what generation this is

    3rd generation ... Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3475S. So, probably 2012 :( Haha, yes you are due for a newer PC :)

Don't understand you guys ... latest and greatest speakers, but OLD PC's, some even with old mechanical hard drives :) Also, 8GB of RAM? Will crash browsers if you open too many tabs :(

I am wondering if it's time to consider buying a new desktop tower?

Haha; YES. As @CWOReilly mentioned, you have a 2nd Gen i7 (2011?) and PC3 RAM AND a HD drive ... haha; horribly outdated. Even 3 year old stuff will run circles around "yours." :)

Big IBM fan ... now Lenovo and Chinese owned, but their PC's are still very, very good and unbeatable workhorses.. For portables I recommend the X1 (or T2*0s series). For desktops I love their ThinkCentre "tiny" series. See https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/c/desktops/thinkcentre/m-series-tiny?orgRef=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F . Personally we have a M920q, M80q and a M90q. And ... I have NO problems buying these used, usually at least 50% off. Note, if you do, make sure these have a full premier "on-site" service warranty and Lenovo will repair them at your home :) (Many of these do have that warranty as they often were purchased by companies.)

More note ... all these "tiny's" will allow for an M.2 SSD (some have slots for DUAL) AND a 2.5" SSD. Also can add a DVD player and an extension module to these. If you want to run Win11 get one with an 8th gen processor (or better), i.e i5/7-"EIGHT"***.

I'm kind of worried about @Emile,  Sounds like he's gonna get slammed

Thanks :)  Not too worried about it; seems it will make landfall a bit south of us. Meaning storm surge won't be 10 feet :) (Haha; house is at 9 ft, garage at 6 ft, pool at 4 ft.) Will probably put up storm shutters later today. Have hurricane glass in all windows, BUT not in 14 french doors on the south side :(

But, really concerned for many people here as many older homes are at 3-6 feet :)

Anyhow, we have enough wine to get through this.

    Cheers, Emile

  7. OK; time for another sub :) Have had bad luck with Klipsch subs ... a 15" had a blown amp which was replaced by the (authorized) seller. A 12" lasted a month :( and since I did not buy it from a Klipsch dealer the warranty was useless.

So; are there any Klipsch subs that are solid and NOT prone to failure? Any wireless ones that work without interference?

    Thanks, Emile
