  1. OK; got a set of K-510/K-691 (=B&C DE 75's) for my "small" stereo room. (Have KPT-904's in my "main" room, so I know what they can sound like ) Using Forte I's as "bass bins." (Xover >500Hz to the horns and <800Hz to the Forte's.) Sound is good, but it seems the 510 horns are just in a different league than the Forte's ... so; looking for suggestions on another "bass bin." Setup is in a "small" stereo room ... do NOT have space for a regular Klipsch bass bin (like the dual 15" in my KPT-904's, forget the actual # of the bins). Just wondering if there is a "small" folded woofer that can give me 30-800Hz, or a direct (ported or sealed) box. Thanks, Emile Add-on ... using a Marantz 1060 on the horns and a Kenwood KR-4070 on the Forte's, xovers set by a miniDSP 2x4.
  2. OK; set the 510 horn crossover to 500Hz and the Forte's to < 800 Hz ... very nice ... Forte's sound a lot "fuller." Trying Beethoven's Fifth to make sure Still wondering about a "small" bass bin. Any suggestions? Thanks, Emile
  3. Haha ... for "us" we are talking Porsche vs Volkswagen
  4. OK; problem was solved ... but have another question ... thought I would try it here before starting a new thread The 510/691 combination is fabulous ... but, am trying a set with Forte I's. The Forte's just seem to be "insufficient / tiny" when compared with my KPT-904 with the large dual bass bins. Thought of replacing the Forte's with a bass bin with maybe a single Pro Eminence Kappa Pro-15LF-2 15" ( https://www.parts-express.com/eminence-kappa-pro-15lf-2-15-cast-frame-driver--290-420 ). Seems the "Pro" speakers just have a bit more oomph. Any thoughts ?? Thanks, Emile Add-on ... this setup is in my "small" stereo room, so I'm looking for a "small" bass bin probably similar volume as the Forte's. Still playing with crossover frequencies, so hopefully it will get better
  5. Willy, welcome to the forum Put me down for #2 (OK; that's nice). Replaced a pair of KG4's about a year ago for Forte (model ONE's). Forte's were "worse" before I switched them to the Ti diaphragms ... a bit better afterwards. Cheers, Emile
  6. Bargain ... darn; too far away for me
  7. OK; all wvu80's fault Had to buy "something." Got a 43" Samsung 4K TV ... Jeez; only $270. Replaces an old 32" guest bedroom TV Setup is very annoying ... "they" want to know "everything." Whatever happened to "plug it in" and watch it ... Cheers, Emile Add-on ... went to Costco to get some lobster tails ... no "singles." Had to buy a 10# box ... cost me the same as the new tv
  8. Haha ... $100 from CraigsList sound a bit better ... maybe you can adjust your pricing for a fellow Klipsch fan
  9. OK; last one on mattresses ... we got a Tempur-Pedic about a year ago ... ?Flex?model ... awesome ... expensive, but we got the floor model at 50% off from a big furniture store ... haha; only 100 people laid on it for a minute ... for a $1000 savings it did not bother me Cheers, Emile
  10. Had to share this ... from a post by @Chris A in Audiophiles Anynomous ... quote My first bed out of college was made up of eight tea crates (free for the asking from Lipton company at the Galveston docks) with a pad of foam rubber on top...for 5 years. unquote
  11. Had to laugh at that ... we only have furry children
  12. Haha long line Just got them working ... going to keep them for a while.
  13. Haha ... I was almost ready to sell it cheap
  14. Thanks for saving me some money Will be dialing it in a bit more
  15. Dave, THANKS! Yes, swapped "one" and it was "good." Chris diagnosed my problem as miniDSP clipping Thanks, Emile
  16. @Chris A ... Dear Professor, THANK YOU DOCTOR Yes; "clipping." (Turned the pre-amp gain down and the sound is crystal clear. Stupid ... but guess I had never really heard "clipping.: Maybe I'll cut out the pre-amp and just go "straight" ??? So; do you suggest getting the "better" miniDSP (the HD version) or ?? Haha, know you are partial to the Xilica's, but was just playing with this and not ready to spend those kind of $$ for this (Plus, lost about 200 of these Xilica's in the market during the last few weeks ) Thanks again, Emile
  17. Chris; great thanks again. Never thought about possible clipping ... but that may just be the "ripped woofer" sound I am hearing Trying it shortly. Thanks! Connections have been double checked ... and switched to "better" RCA cables after my initial tests. You DA MAN. Yes; "old" one is on a baffle in an approx 11x19x9" box, so that explains that one Add-on ... and yes, I'm an idiot ... balance knob was off also
  18. OK; hooked ONE up to my KPT-904's. The "ripped woofer" effect is gone ; sound is drastically improved. But ... strangely the "new 510" seems to play at a lower volume than my "old 510." New one has the K-691 driver which supposedly is a B&C DE75 ... old driver is a B&C DE75 also. Tried measuring it with a sound level meter but could not really "see" the difference (even though my "old" one has a grille which should drop it down at least 3dB's). To my ears the "new one" plays at a much lesser volume ... just cannot guess at the dB's Many, many thanks, Emile PS; getting my Umik mike out ... haha, just don't remember how to use it ... plus may not have enough time as we have to get ready for Thanksgiving PS2; took the grille of my "old" horn ... turned it to mono (yeah; dumb me) ... not sure anymore if there is a difference ... could have been the recording I was trying before
  19. Tried Chris' settings. Yes, balances the sound, i.e. smoother, but still "horrible." Let me try another analogy ... if these would be woofers, it sounds like the cone is completely ripped/separated from the main body Next I will try to hook one up to my KPT-904's and see if I still have the same problem. Many, many thanks to all
  20. Haha ... not much ... but first I will give it a couple more tries
  21. Haha ... yes; have a set of KPT-904's ... was so impressed with the horns resulting in another pair Last resort is to swap the 501's, to see ...
  22. Haha ... high pass means tweeters, low pass woofers as "expected."
  23. OK; did not try Chris' filters yet ... had to pick up some people from Tampa Airport and take them 1-1/2 hours South ... Jeez; took 5 hours But ... probably main reason I did not try them yet is that I am not confident they will work in which case I will sell these. (Think it requires a good DSP like a Xilica, or ?) Haha; anyone interested in an (almost) new set of 510/691's ?? Cheers, Emile
