  1. I make a mango "salsa". It all fresh diced fruit/veggies. Labor intensive... so, I don't do it often. Special occasions only. I can't make a small batch, unless I want a lot of half this and thats. like no matter how small I think I am going I always end up with a dutch oven full of lasagna sauce. A 9 X 13 and 9 X 9 pan finished Not a real problem. Lasagna is good any time of day. "Ages" nicely in the fridge for the day or two it lasts.
  2. So, you can cook! good salsa is an art, Steve. I cheat and open a can of Rotel... add a few fresh thing.. Pau
  3. Now yer makin' me hungry I've noticed the same. Hot isn't hot. I think they are toning the spicing down. My palate isn't immune to hot. We do use hot sauce/s. Asian type. A lot of my cooking is home style mid-western. Nothing too bitey. ...On hot isn't hot. I used to participate in the local chili cook-off. Judging is popular vote and folks usually only take one spoonful as a sample. Not much time to make an impression. I always describe mine as medium. Hot will scare people. I saw a couple of guys walking away... turn and stare at me as they were wiping their brow.... Slow acting chili. melts your stomach and not your mouth
  4. Mornin' All. It is still AM? Had a rough day yesterday. Productive, but, frustrating Cleaned the oven. Oh, so much fun. And laundry. Solar drier not working as well as normal. Temp made it to 60` at best. Could only squeeze off 3 loads. Opposite summer run. In the summer, the slowdown is how fast the machine processes the wash. Stuff dries faster than the machine can run more. We have a cord of wood coming tomorrow/Monday. That will keep us for the season. Need to pull the bird from the freezer soon. We aren't expecting a bunch.A friend and his wife and a SIL. She won't be for the sit down. No sense of time. Boy is working. It is a dude ranch and the have a full boat. Working service, holidays are not so much fun. The bowling alley wasn't bad. We had to be open so the folks could come and wish us a happy... We didn't do squat for business.. Just visit all day. Restaurant, that a whole different story. It turns into a production line. You are allowed X amt of time at the table. Adios and NEXT! Wife [me] needs to make a pumpkin pie for the school on Wed. I'll make 2... and I bet most of "our" pie will be gone before T-Day. I likes da pumpkin pie. There were sugar pie pumpkins at the grocery. I balked at $4ea. Would have taken at least one per pie. Should have bit the bullet to show wife the diff between Jack-O-Lantern and pie pumpkin. reflecting on Old Folks' Boogie
  5. farmed salmon is junk. Wrong color [dye added] and way wrong genetics [eel genes in it for 3X growth]
  6. other side of the world https://flagstaff.craigslist.org/ele/d/cornville-klipsch-heresy-speakers/7024707231.html $150. painted cabs
  7. wife sez "You already have some of those".
  8. the money aside having a craft/trade is a good thing. We need people that can work with their hands
  9. Hope our planned addition doesn't cost that. Things are cheaper here, but.... Still sputtering rain. Seeing some looking suspiciously like melted snow. Been a good rain. We got 2" over Wed/Thurs. Was very quiet in town until after 10AM. Road closed. It was nice.
  10. that's about the size of our living room.... 12 X 25 Only prob with my space, I have to put everything on the long wall. Speakers are ~12' apart, pretty well centered, toed in a lot. 60` or so. Lines cross a foot in front of MLP Otherwise, you have a LaScala right in your face. I'd love to set up on the short wall. Doorways don't allow. I have to question my wife's sensibility [that foregone conclusion. she married me]. She put a bunch of oldT shirts on the clothesline to get "washed" in the rain. So far, so good. Except [knew that was coming], they were all on hangers and the wind was blowing 30MPH. I picked them off the ground twice. The second time to bring them inside. Wife was "But, but, but" asked her if she was wanting to make "mud duds". if the wind had been a little stronger, they would have made it to the JujubeTrees and I would not needed to pick 'em up.
  11. I get an exam when my old glasses are too scratched to see from. I buy 2 pairs at a time. It is several, 5 or 6 or 10, years between exams. being nearsighted, I should have bifocals... I do it the old fashioned way... Look under my glasses or if really needed, take them off to do close work. Wife called a rain day, today. Water is ponding. Won't take much to make a flow. Raining now. If the washes aren't running, they will. Glad I have a nice little stack of wood. Makes me feel "secure", like having a full pantry. these rains will do some good. A soaking. Things are/were quite dry. The lack of summer rain left a lot of normally wet places dry/ idiot light on the coffee machine came on. Time to flush it.
  12. I wanna say the folk in Scandinavia like extremes. I believe sauna is one of their devices of pleasure, too. Then roll in the snow. infomercial Dr. Ho's Total Body Relief don't think you need a Dr for that... just a ho
  13. okie dokey that'll cure ya ... or kill ya a subtle thrill seeker. Some folks need near death experience to appreciate life? I remember some German guests at a campground where I worked a long time ago.... We were sitting around the pool [unheated] in coats, it was winter.... These folks wandered up and jumped it. Water temp was 50` or so. "oh, isn't this is lovely" In HI, we didn't swim in the winter. The water was too cold... 70` Had a hankering for home fries and eggs for breakfast. The potatoes were almost perfect. Golden, some crisp/crunchy. Forgot how long it takes to do them proper. I about died of hunger waiting. I was hungry NOW!
  14. Gymnasts are frig strong. I dated a little gal... Incredibly strong. She put you where she wants.
  15. them gals been eatin' too much spinach We have weather! Started right on cue. 11AM/ Light rain and thunder. Had me scrambling to get the wood ricked up and covered. Gathered a nice load w/o leaving "town". Wife doesn't like me going cutting solo. If something would happen, it would be BorderPatrol or smugglers to find me no cell coverage where I normally go. Wind is huffing and puffing.... from the south. Still warm/ish 55`. That's as good as it gets today. Cold front blowing thru today. All the curtain/plastic on the windows made a difference in the sound. Almost wanna bump the treble up. just checking cl. A pair of LS $1800 local. Wife and I are getting along good ... maybe a good time to test the waters? She'd shoot me
  16. About wired on coffee. Waiting for the insurance adjuster. Expecting him any time now. Winterizing the house. Plastic on the windows. Weather stripping around the doors. When the adjuster goes, I have dead tree scoped out. Right along the road and not on the wildlife refuge. They get pissy about cutting their dead trees. Not a monster tree. A trunk full.. Steppin' lively today. Rain is in the forecast. Spose to start midday and go on and off until Friday. Accumulation? 3/4 - 1.5in. That will make wet. Wind tomorrow and breezy Thurs. The Chamber of Commerce weather is gone. Lucky to make 60` Wed - Thurs. think I'm needing to winterize my wardrobe. Dig out the long handles, socks .... clothes.
  17. may be. dinna wear it to the store. wore my "civies"... bib-o's. You might be better to think of it as a beach wrap... something to cover your speedo when you go in the store for a beverage. I used to swim competitively... believe me, you would rather see me in a sarong than any of the tank suits we had to wear.
  18. I'd hold out for LS. It's getting holiday season. Someone might get their Jubes and bust loose.
  19. this is how I get in trouble shopping. The grocery was not busy, at all, and I managed to strike up convos with several gals. Even had one lady [not an employee] looking for a couple items for me.
  20. Hey Elden, If my wife' soup looked like that, she'd have a better chance of me eatin' it dinner is ready to go into the oven grabbed a few spud to cook. I found a bad one ya know the old axiom about 1 bad apple.... a rotten potato will ruin a barrel. They are almost as bad as rotten onions.
  21. They always said that stuff would make you blind... making some Mexican Shepard's Pie Mashed potato and meat burritos in green enchilada sauce. Sour cream, chopped cilantro and cheese in/on. We have queso fresco... that gets the go instead of the usual Tillamok cheddar. Or in addition to...
  22. CBD farms in KY. Looks good, smells good. It's a dud from a recreational point. There were some patches of local that were worth burning. RaspberryRd or something like that. And NappaneeNasty.Watch out for the farmers. They guard their patches. My shorthair pointer made a great believable lie
  23. it could be one of those shirts with the physique painted on.
  24. Holy cats!!! I got to the grocery. Forgot half of what I wanted. Boy drank half a pot of my coffee. That was my OK, I'm awake... now to think, portion. Didn't fall in lust with any of the old gals... Had a pleasant time anyway. I watch tractor pulling. on the show yesterday was an AgriKing tractor named Vi-Agri King. Below the name, something about stiff competition. Truth insurance adjuster is supposed to come by tomorrow for a look/see at the car. Grill and bumper, for sure. Then we get to decide whether to take it to the shop of our choice or one associated with the insurance co. The shop we like is in GreenValley. They do good work AND I can get a ride from the shop and back when the car is done. The insurance company's... their shop is in Tucson. Well known automotive group. I don't think they will give me to and from... My ill friend... She survived surgery for her bowel obstruction. the cancer.... Unfortunately, it looks as if I will be helping her thru "the transition". Did I tell y'all how much I dislike my job sometimes. We are hoping for a miraculous remission. Otherwise, the holidays may not be so fun this year.
