  1. BobG, I have not personally used WD-40, but about three years ago I had a very established (40 plus years in business)audio retailer/repair outlet do a cleaning job on an old pre-amp. While speaking to the tech, I asked what grade of contact cleaner they used. His reply was "We use WD-40". I was floored! However, this must work pretty good, because my pre-amp had no more hiss/pop/ect! BTW, that retailer was Hillcrest HiFi, here in Dallas. Back in the seventies and eighties they stocked the entire heritage line. I'll never forget hearing the mighty Khorns there for the first time the summer of 1980. They made a believer out me.
  2. Here are the authorized etailers for Niles parts. Crutchfield J&R Music One Call Sound City Tweeter Sound City has them for $88.25, no shipping.

I didn't check shipping and am finding that many "cheap" dealers are jacking up shipping and handling. Dave ---------------- This price is for a used part, and they are out of stock. I like the DPDT switch idea, and I used to have practically unlimited access to such items. However, that is no longer the case. A word of caution to those considering this route: If you have young children, reconsider. The blades on this type switch are not insulated, and would look awfully inviting to a youngster's eye. Although I don't think there would be any danger of shock, shorting across the two blades could damage your equipment if the amp was running.JMO
  4. Ears, I know you are fond of the Sunfire Sig Subs. I have an opportunity to get one (demo) for $1498 USD. As I understand it, this 13" cube will hit 116 db or so. But how low will it go?
  5. Cingular, unlimited minutes, 69.99 per month. Cingular extends their corporate rates to all employees of the company for which I work. I am very happy with my service. Do not "pay as you go". I do not think you will be happy. If you have never had a wireless phone before, believe me, it's easy to burn those minutes. It's just the convenience factor. Good luck!
  6. If you are interested, and near Dallas, here you go. From the Dallas Morning News Classifieds: "Klipsch KG4 speakers main and center -PERFECT-wife hates wood grain! $400 or OBO. 214-477-2335" They told me they would take $300.00. I think they would go lower. I have not seen them, just spoke to the wife via phone. She was not too knowledgeable. She didn't know the finish, but said they are a dark "Ice Tea" color. She said they were used in a HT, and two speakers were purchased at one time and the third a couple of years later.
  7. What's a good price on three KG4s in Oiled Walnut. I have an opportunity to get them for $300.00. Also, being used to Corns, will I be dissappointed with the sound? I've never heard them.

  9. Good for you, Ken. I'm glad to hear you will be living at home. I have this mental image of you trying to shoe-horn that JBL 4648 into a dorm room. LOL!
  10. How much for the RF7s? Don't see pics in odds & mods.
  11. I need my Cornwalls to pull double duty as front mains and 2 channel. I remember reading about a switching device to let you select which source goes to the speakers. Anyone have a clue where to get these? Price? Thanks in advance to all who reply.
  12. Man, some people just don't have any sense at ALL. Hopefully the young lady won't end up wrapping it around a light standard and dying or getting seriously injured.

I too refuse to be one of the 'rabbit people', who, when confronted with an armed intruder in their own home, will have only "Please don't hurt/maim/kill me or my family" as a defense mechanism. No Sir. Not in my house, or any where else for that matter.
  14. I think Danartdis is asking how much he could sell his bass bin for, and looking to aquire the new box sub from SVS. I have been considering the same exact thing, Dan. However, I would have to get a pretty fair amount for my JBL , like double what I have invested, to justify the whole deal. Just too much bang for the proverbial buck with the JBLs. Also, the JBL is shaking the sh!t out of my cheap Fox and Jacobs house, and I'm afraid of what may happen with the new SVS!!
  15. If you missed this a few weeks ago, here you go. It airs at 10:00 central, and it is pretty good. From TV Guide Online: Willie Nelson and Friends: Live and Kickin' 120 min. Former president Bill Clinton, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello and Norah Jones are among the luminaries joining the country legend for his 70th-birthday bash. Nelson's second USA concert improves upon 2002's Stars & Guitars with punchier music and more spirited interaction between Nelson and his guests. Chatting with Clinton, Nelson puckishly recalls visiting the White House, while Wyclef Jean's cheeky rap tribute to the Red Headed Stranger enlivens their reggae take on To All the Girls I've Loved Before. Other highlights include Nightlife (with Clapton), Crazy (with Costello and Diana Krall) and Wurlitzer Prize (with Jones). (VCR Plus+ 670569)

  17. Clu Absolutely hilarious! BTW..I just noticed the last line in your sig.."and some very nice Henckel knives". Aaaaah yes, J. A. Henckel is indeed the Klipsch of Cutlery.
  18. Yes, the beloved 'Red Headed Stranger' has made many close friends over the years. It was indeed a special night for him, and a fantastic concert. He has such a broad appeal. I remember one of his first picnics, down in Austin. Talk about a diverse crowd. From dyed in the wool, red neck cowboys, to Hell's Angels...literally! Ahhh the good old days!
  19. Kenratboy, I couldn't have put it any better!!LOL
  20. Dave, No, not detroit. Dallas is correct. Actually, Mesquite.
  21. Moon, how long did it take for your new drivers to arrive from Klipsch, and what was the price? Just curious, as I have a woofer in one of my Corns that needs to be replaced. It really doesn't sound all that bad, but when you push in on on the woofer cone, it rubs and makes a scraping noise. As I understand it, this means I need a new woofer.
  22. "third is the cable/speaker wire. Is monster cable worth the cost? Can you tell the difference?" This type of question can cause a war on this BB!! I, however, am with jtkinney on this matter. 12 or 14 ga. speaker wire is all I have ever used. There are many here who will disagree, and I'll admit it may just be that with the equipment I have, it wouldn't matter if I used 16 Ga zip cord or 10 ga solid silver. Actually, I just feel the money will go alot farther toward equipment instead of wire. Good luck!
  23. I knew you would see the light, m00n! Those are some beautiful speakers you have, and I hope you enjoy them for a long, long time. Again, congrats on getting "Fully Loaded"!
