  1. Glad to help! @CECAA850 is correct though. The bigger you go, the less you have to push it. Obviously there is a limit to that, but a 12" sub in a small 1/2 bathroom would still be punchy when dialed in correctly.
  2. Had the same problem on my R10SWi. Had to turn the gain down to 2 or 3, and set receiver sub gain to minimum level. Something else that helped was setting sub to LFE, and letting the receiver do all the crossover. Wall positioning plays a big deal on this sub. I have the port about 4" from the wall. Once I played around and figured these things out, the sub lights my room up quite well. This was for 2.1ch audio and I love it for that. Now, as far as theater duties, I feel even at an entry level, the sub just can't handle it. Once it hits 25-30Hz, it sounds like poo. If you can, return it and spend the extra $100 on the 12"

    Led Zeppelin 2!

Considering they've only released an EP, I'd say they are on the way to greatness.

    Led Zeppelin 2!

Just heard these guys a few days ago. I'm extremely impressed. When I initially heard "Highway Tune" on the radio on the way home from work, my initial thought was ,"What the... unreleased Zep track?" Used Google Play Music to ID the song. I love their sound. Zep, Hendrix, Rush, Floyd. These kids are gonna be huge. Had my 58yo dad listen to them on his system at home, and his initial thoughts were the same.
  5. The whole review he seemed to dislike the speakers and the yestertech. Then at the end he's like "9/10". Going off that review, I wouldn't ever consider buying them. Hell, it would make me question Klipsch all together. It really does seem that the writer has an issue with "retro". He really calls that out in his introduction.
  6. Nope, no noise at all. Just checked. Truck is a 2015 XL trim with zero extras except for the tow package. They've always sounded like crap at higher volumes.
  7. I'm actually pretty happy with my headphones. I do need to get an amp for them now since retiring my receiver. I have a set of Ultrasone Pro 550's I bought 7 years or so ago, and I've always loved them. That may change though, lol.
  8. Not far from that. Due for a new work truck at some point this year. I guess I'll have to spend a few bucks replacing the OE with some aftermarket stuff. I've always been a fan of Kenwood for car audio.
  9. Blah! I listen to music constantly. It's my thing. I drive 3-5 hours a day(life of a field service tech), carry a portable Bluetooth speaker while on the job, and then TV/movies when I get home. Everything sounds like garbage. It's all muddled, boring and bland. Last night after listening for a couple hours, went down and watched some TV with the wife. I have a LG SK8Y sound bar for the downstairs TV. It sounded like total ***. No better word. Seems like it's time to find a horn setup Jumped in my work truck this morning for an emergency requiring a 5 hour drive for work tomorrow. Now, I know my basic F150 trim has crap for speakers, but seriously? I think I could smash some cow dung into a cone with a playdough mold, duct tape a large nail wrapped in copper wire to the back of it and it might sound better. The Bluetooth speaker I use in the workplace (Milwaukee M18 thing)... Well, I knew it was total trash. I can't help that, a nice one won't hold up to the environments I work in. The point? My ears are ruined. Thanks, Klipsch
  10. Oh, yes! I've been listening to Amaranthe for the last two or three years. She does have a set of pipes! There are some amazing female vocalists in the genre
  11. Ahh. Well, I was going to wait until I had a chance to clean up my office tomorrow...but oh well. Since I'm getting rid of the old receiver, I'm gonna find a different place to put my computer, center my desk on the wall, and properly place The Sixes.
  12. Around 1500 today I received a delivery notification from FedEx that my speakers had finally arrived. I was pretty deep in a gearbox inspection at a customer and had it all torn apart. Lucky me, during the NDT, I found three bad gears with cracked teeth. Sweet! No need to put it back together. Send info back to the shop, clean the area, and dash home. My wife sent me a text saying that my "stupid speakers were in my office". I get home, shower up, start a pot of chili, and then head upstairs to get everything swapped out. I tell ya, these are some pretty speakers! You look at the spec sheet dimensions and really don't realize that these are fairly sizable for their class. I am totally blown away. I've been through some of my favorites (In The Light, Tuesday's Gone, Simple Man, Bohemian Rhapsody, the Tron:Legacy soundtrack, all kinds of John Williams soundtrack pieces, Boston, Lamb Of God, Suicide Silence etc...) and so many songs are like listening to them for the first time. Instruments and sounds that I haven't noticed before. Several times I had to make sure I wasn't playing remixes because everything just sounded different. When I first started listening, I had a thought- Hmm, just a tad bit more bass. Went over to the sub to up the gain just a ***, and realized that the status light was out. WHAT?! In my rush to start listening, I forgot to move over the LFE cable from my old receiver. Ha! It kinda made me laugh. The speaker's bass output was just a hair under what I wanted it, and the sub wasn't even running. I enjoy good strong bass, and The Sixes nearly come through on their own. Yanked the screens grilles off...was NOT expecting that! They dampen the horns considerably. I was able to convince the wife to have a listen. Played a few of her favorite songs, and unprompted, she stated the same as my thoughts above. She was convinced that she was listening to covers of her favorites. It's good to know she "gets it"! I would have been very happy with The Sixes if I had paid the retail $800. Paying $479 through a NewEgg Flash deal from Worldwide? I don't think I've ever been more satisfied with a purchase. Not that I have a recent history of better quality audio, but if anyone has been on the shelf(lol) about these, I highly suggest them. You'll even with the ol' lady's OK.
  13. Amusement evades you. However, I'll bite. From a scientific point of view, why would you? Would CERN build the LHC and then power it with an inefficient and antiquated technology? Just because something once was the cream of the crop, doesn't mean that it will always be. Scientifically and statistically, it is not. Preference and nostalgia aren't valid arguments to my initial statement, beyond being exactly those things. My statement posited a fact-based observation.
  14. Played around with it for a few minutes before heading to work. Turned the sub's gain down to notch 1, and pushed it back closer to wall, 3" away. I do believe I'm happy with it now
  15. I expected it to perform better than the crappy Sony floor standings I have. In the OP, I described that I had the the receiver's sub gain already set to the minimum.
  16. Thanks! I'll give it a try when I get home from work.
  17. Never could figure out pairing ultra efficient speakers with the most inefficient form of amplification.
  18. So the first bit of my new gear came in, the R10SWi. The Sixes will be here later this month. So, in the interim, I went ahead and hooked up the sub. I set the subs low pass to ~50Hz which is the low end of my speakers. I enabled the sub out on my receiver. It's an old Pioneer, can't remember the model number off the top of my head. I set the sub output level to "min", that ranges from there to 5, 10, 15, and max. I set the sub's gain to 3. Cranked up the volume to where I enjoy listening, which is rather loud, but not deafening by any means. The bass hits sound terrible! They are muddy instead of punchy (lots of double kicks, I listen to heavy metal. Here is one of the songs on was listening to, but @320kbps br). I was expecting these to be punchy and clean. I have the sub port approximately 8" from the wall. It's not in a corner, and is centered on one of the long walls in my office. There are times where it even sounds like it's being over driven, very distorted and flappy. So I got on youtube and found a frequency sweep that started at 2GHz and went down to 1Hz. Even though I had the subs low pass set to 50Hz, it starts blowing it's load at 150Hz. I even verified the sub setting. Unfortunately, my receiver does not have an actual LFE option where I could limit the signal at the receiver. So, what's the deal? Am I expecting too much from the sub, is it garbage, or is my receiver to blame. Thanks for any input. This is disappointing.
  19. ABT has the Klipsch R10swi on sale for $238 with free shipping. Linky
  20. For sure! Pretty much anything has got to be an improvement over the old Sony's that I've been using for the last 18 years or so, lol. They've been solid though. Just time for an upgrade. Not to mention getting rid of the giant cabinet I have my receiver in.
  21. I think The Three's discussion spot is in the Personal Audio Systems (or something like that) sub.
  22. Good to hear. Mine should be shipping out on the 15th. Not a whole lot of buzz on them around here, but what little has been stated is very positive.
