Hmmmm....... Have you ever been so sick, or hungover that you said ‘’I’d have to get dead to feel better?’ Having worked in healthcare for 4 decades I have witnessed a lot of death. The worst.... by a wide margin is watching someone die from infectious disease. A distant 2nd would be poisoning. Oh, and you want your kids/grandkids strong and yet you’re willing to expose them to an illness today that may render them crippled for life. All of this because your too ‘proud’ to wear a simple mask? How’s about contributing to the solution instead of adding to the troubles. The sooner covid19 gets contained the sooner we can all return to ‘normal’ as you say. You have no idea what you’re risking. Would you defuse a 2000 lb bomb w/o any knowledge of what your doing? Why do you think you are better able to determine public health policy w/o any training?

Covid19 is a corona virus.... a new variant of a coronavirus that humans have not ever been exposed to. It does not respond to existing antiviral medications and so far there is no vaccine for covid19 (or any coronavirus). The effects of covid19 on the body were unknown and are still being discovered. Covid19 is treated empirically and medicine is getting better at it. Influenza’s are variants of the well known influenza A and B viruses. They mutate and annually and a few mutations thrive because they too are novel, new strains of the flu, and they can be quite severe. Thus the need for annual influenza vaccinations..... to stave off the new flu virus. And medicine can vaccinate for the flu and the flu does respond to antiviral drugs. Though the 2 viruses have similarities they are quite different morphologically and clinically. There are multitudes of viruses that occur naturally. Ebola is another virus different from either covid19 or the influenza. The vast majority of viruses are not pathological to humans. Before modern antibiotics people were treated by giving them viruses known to kill bacteria. So to accurately assess the impact of both covid19 and this year’s influenza the 2 data bases must be separately evaluated. So eat your Wheaties and stay healthy and safe. 😁

And yet this same paper also states the fact that science still does not understand how covid19 jumped from its natural hosts into the human population. This, it claims, is the proverbial looking for a needle in the haystack..... and is an ongoing effort. The effort is China-centric because covid19 clearly presented in Wuhan China. The effort is ongoing because China has refused unfettered access for the work. Again my assertion is that the ‘Yan’ paper is a moot point. Whether covid19 was or was not ‘man-made’ it clearly has taken a highly suspicious pathway starting from Wuhan and now worldwide. Recall how aggressively China controlled their own population to contain covid19 whilst demanding open and free international travel from areas China knew to be covid19 infected. Countries that shut down travel from China were labeled xenophobic by China and others. And it is now clearly understood that this travel seeded covid19 around the world. So if China has nothing to hide then stop hiding it. Open up to the investigators. Give them free rein. Prove your innocence. Until we understand exactly what occurred with covid19 do not blithely absolve China. They have only their own interests in mind and often they’re not amicable towards most other countries.

I’d like to say this man was the ‘village’ covid19 ‘idiot’ but I can’t. More accurately he is from a ‘village’ of covid19 ‘idiots’. It is not about religious folks. It comes right back to the inability to fix ‘stupid’. This place is loaded with them. This morning we have a report of covid19 in one of our elementary schools. Just 30 miles west, Washington has tough mask laws in place that everyone complies with. Here their mandate is toothless and from day 1 the police boasted that they’d not conduct any enforcement of the rules. Honestly I have to wonder if there’s not some sort of discrimination in play. Discrimination against the elderly and the infirm whom are far more susceptible to covid19. We are held hostage by a community that has a mask mandate that it’s leadership refuses to enforce. Whether intentional or otherwise this circumstance impacts select individuals and they know it and they do not care. This is a retirement community with many long term care facilities. Already we’ve had covid19 in 1 of these places. The only business providing ‘reasonable accommodation’ is Costco that opens early for the elderly/infirm and strictly enforces mask usage. Hopefully these people are more lucky than any degree of smart and covid19 will not blow up. But they are seriously tempting a fate they will deeply regret should it occur.

I have listened to these in the past. They’re very ‘beamy’ meaning that to enjoy their best performance I needed to sit in the sweet spot. I lost much of their performance away from that singular location.

I’d agree that covid19 wasn’t ‘man-made’. But I am still unconvinced that China did not release a naturally occurring virus and weaponized it by spreading it internationally. China still refuses to allow any western investigations into Wuhan or their virus research lab in Wuhan.

I’d say that the spread/perpetuation/proliferation of covid19 is more behavioral than environmental. It’s unfortunate that covid19 seems impervious to environmental extremes. More unfortunate is that we can’t fix stupid. Winter will see clusters of stupids gathering indoors. If we do have a vaccine available the stupids won’t accept it. We have stupids in leadership roles everywhere and at many levels. Apparently stupids cannot read or think and are stupidly selfish, thinking only of their stupid selves. Stupids are everywhere and more are born daily. Covid19 thrives on stupidity and that’s my answer. 😞😠😳

Thorium offers a clean nuclear fuel. Once spent it does not require isolation. It degrades to a safe isotope. Thorium can also be deployed in mini reactors small enough to support individual towns or segments of major cities. That makes them energy independent essentially off the grid and not subject to regional power failures. This is not a new subject. It’s an energy science long known and kept under wraps by the utilities industries that’d be impacted by their application. But countries other than America will develop these products for their own needs and eventually we’ll adopt their advantages.

Your question is retrospective. At the time the isolation policies were enacted we did not fully understand covid19 yet. It may have been overkill but who was to know at that time? Covid19 had ravaged Italy and the only measures that seemed to work for certain were those established by China for their population. China shut down the areas involved. That was the benchmark then, so that’s what we did - then.

Well the charts demonstrated ‘blip’ certainly reflects at least 180K additional deaths since April. Guess your point is that a lot of folks die and the additional 180K dead folks is inconsequential in your opinion. Keep in mind that these additional deaths occurred despite the best modern medicine could deliver. Add to that the extreme efforts made to isolate the virus by the shutdowns you’ve referenced. Those deaths are substantial, in my book... and they reflect some tough choices enacted to control/contain/treat the organism. Imagine how much worse it could have been w/o those efforts?

Wrong...... approach. The comparison data base would be annualized deaths prior to covid19 compared to deaths with covid19 in the mix. So we need to compare 2020 to 2019 and 2018 or even an average value prior to 2020. And, as you note, excess deaths with covid19 are above 200K and we have several more months to fill out the annualized figures. And 200K deaths attributed to any disease far surpasses any annual fatality rate since the 1918-19 influenza.

Ummmmmm....... what data are you awaiting? Already the actual covid19 body count has far surpassed the pace of any disease event during this time frame. Do you doubt that there are actual bodies in that data?

You have to go back to the 1918-19 influenza to find a disease this lethal. Covid19 is worse than either polio or tuberculosis. There’s good reason the entire planet is very preoccupied with covid19.

Whenever you consider covid19 think about short and longer term effects of the infection. In the short term covid19 impacts people differently. It is fatal at a much higher rate than any contagion in the last century killing the vulnerable populations. In the longer term covid19 is an unknown. What has been evidenced is organ damage in the survivors. Age does not matter. Heart damage is seen amongst all age groups and all body types. The vulnerable are not alone. Covid19 touches its victims in many ways. Fast forward 30 years from now. Covid19 and most infectious diseases may well be entirely preventable by then. But for the extant populations of covid19 survivors there could be an epidemic of organ system failures. Diabetes, renal diseases, strokes and heart diseases...... all the long term consequences of the covid19 pandemic 30 years earlier. We saw this with polio and other ailments. Covid19 damages the body in some very serious ways and as humans age that damage will limit organ survivorship. And we still do not know everything about covid19. It may go dormant inside the body and resurface in some manifestation. Only time and a lot of diligence will tell. Covid19 is a great concern. Every community should collectively be focused on doing everything possible to keep covid19 from spreading. It is not hard and only makes good sense. It is merely a higher degree of germ awareness and cleanliness and avoidance.

Not equating anything other than they both merit remembrance. They are both American tragedies at the hands of terrorists and both occurred on 9/11. You’re correct they are substantially and factually quite different. But they do both merit remembrances in all their individual regards.
