  1. Right now I own 20 solar panels, 4200Kwh. As it happens, today I read an article about going 'off the grid' completely, in Belgium. I would need a Fronius 10.000 Kwh battery for that, which costs give or take 12,000 euros. Even with that battery, due to the Belgian winters, it would be impossible to be off the grid in December and January. My earnings for January: So I guess I will stick to what I have now, without the battery. I think it is impossible to win back the investment of the battery, ever. I have no idea what the effect of the battery would be on a sound system.
  2. Good luck with your project! The layout looks nice. At first sight, I think your amp has already been overhauled. If it plays alright, I would enjoy it for a while. I read somewhere that these amps were diy kits. Is that correct? Perhaps not all of the models?
  3. No ill effects here either. Never regretted having them. Make sure you get them installed by a professional with independent quality check up afterwards.
  4. Nice! How does it sound? Have you done other renovations inside?
  5. Sorry for the late reaction - I've been down with the flu and fever. Well, I listened to the song again on the Heresy speakers, and they are fine. They just make the distortion effect much harsher than the RP160M speakers. So what I heard and triggered my panic reaction, is actually a very distorted bass, deliberately put into the track by her brother, Finneas O'Connor. He's in the video below.
  6. You are correct. There was a typo in the listing. A B misread for an 8.
  7. Anybody who knows if this Amp is any good? I think it is American.
  8. Me too... My 10 year old daughter just walked in.... "Billie Eilish! She freaking good! She's huge among the young people!" Glad the young generation is starting to appreciate Klipsch, finally... My kids usually give me the 'evil eye' when I play my 'old' music loud...
  9. About a year ago I bought a set of RP160M speakers and really enjoyed listening to them. Last October, I had the opportunity to buy a set of 1972 Heresy speakers for my listening room, and the RP160Ms migrated to the living room. Both speaker sets have their own sound signature/character, and for that reason I've respectfully refrained to make A-B comparisons. So today I was listening to AnalogPlanet's playlist of 'Best of 2010s' recordings and I came accross Billy Eilish with Xanny. This song starts right off in the lowest frequencies, with really low bass, and then it gets even weirder with some effects thrown in. I thought the song was killing my Heresy woofers, so I paused the song as quickly as possible. Perhaps my tube amp would do better? Not at all. This song really beat the Heresy speakers in their own game. And with that I mean that the song can't be listened to on them in a comfortable way. So out of curiosity I went downstairs to the RP160Ms. And yes, they could handle this song better. Still not perfect, though. So is this an 'age' thing, or is it because of the fact that the RP160Ms go as low as 45Hz (compared to 58Hz for the Heresy)? So the question remains how this song is supposed to sound...
  10. I bought this vinyl record when I was 19, in the late 1980s. Together with Van's "No guru, no method, no teacher" - , which I like even more. I still listen to them, but they are scratchy, so I mostly listen to them in streaming. At the time, I was a 'noob' and I mistakenly thought I 'd bought two 'Jim Morrison' records... 🙄 Have been a Van the Man fan ever since! My favourite song is 'In the garden'.
  11. And then there is Pierre Anckaert, another talented musician from Brussels.
  12. Marc Moulin was a multi-talented artist, journalist, writer... He died of cancer in 2008. He lived in Brussels, Belgium.
  13. Tourist is my favourite album. There's an old album, Boulevard (1995), and a recent one St Germain (2015), which isn't bad either. All his albums sound really good on Klipsch speakers...
  14. If you like St Germain, you're gonna like Marc Moulin / Top Secret as well!
  15. That's a $3,000 amp. The Denon PMA-60 is $500. I could suggest a Leben CS600 tube amp, which is $5,300. But I won't. Or Luxman's top model, which costs even more. I'm sure they 'll sound better. But the Denon PMA-60 is a very nice machine, pretty high end with beautiful looks and lots of versatility. It will sound amazing with your klipsch speakers in your room. Wait and see.
  16. Unless you plan on playing music really loud, or in a really big space, you'll be fine. I you notice your volume setting is maxed out most of the time, you should look for a stronger amplifier.
  17. I made a video of it. https://photos.app.goo.gl/1NZc6BeWEh3TgTVe8
  18. Last night I was listening to Saint Germain's 'Sure Thing', the first track on side C of the double vinyl album Tourist. In the right channel there was obvious, annoying continuous 'noise' in the high frequencies. First I thought it was dust, so I cleaned the record. No effect. Then started narrowing down to the cause. First I checked all of the wiring. Perhaps my Marantz amp caused it, so I hooked up my tube amp. Same problem. I swapped channels, and the noise moved to the other channel of my set of Heresies. So the amps and the speakers are not to blame. The bizarre thing is that it is only that specific track. The next track of side C is ok, and so is side D, A and B. All my other albums play fine. Is the Project turntable to blame? Why only that one track, then? I'm mystified. In another room, I have my old (real vintage) Onkyo stereo with turntable, and there, the issue is hardly noticable... I've come to the conclusion that this track is 'bad' and that the highly sensitive Heresy speakers magnify the issue. Could that be the plausible explanation? EDIT: I 've compared with 'Sure Thing' on Spotify, and I can hear the 'noise' there as well, but hardly noticable. I think the digital conversion has filtered it out, while the artist put it there on purpose.
  19. If I were you, I'd stick with Luxman: http://www.luxman.com/product/detail.php?id=11 https://www.hifishark.com/model/luxman-da-06
  20. Qobuz has recently put up some dac reviews, from budget up to high end: https://www.qobuz.com/ie-en/info/Hi-Fi/Actualites/Tech-Roundup-Choosing-a-Network182130
  21. "These are 2 inches wider, deeper and taller than the famed Hersey! They are ported like the Cornwall. Yes they sound better than klipsch. Klipsch sued them in 1980 and put them out of business. These are nice and sound amazing! $600 cash 501-413-125three" Seems like this company built the Heresy 4 ... back in 1980.😉
  22. If you plan to turn that amp higher than 12 o'clock, make sure the tiles on your roof are fixed... or they'll be blown away. No worries.
  23. Steve Huff wrote a really favourable review of this amp, a personal story, rather. https://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2018/11/25/hi-fi-review-luxman-590-axii-integrated-amplifier-review-by-steve-huff/
  24. I've read a lot of positive things about the Project Box S2. It used to cost $350 but now the price has increased substantially to $399. https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Ject-Tube-Box-Phono-Preamplifier/dp/B075KPB1P2/ref=pd_sbs_23_img_0/139-8380966-5664767?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B075KPB1P2&pd_rd_r=1282954c-0139-41f6-822a-040e2f1b45c8&pd_rd_w=xKRzZ&pd_rd_wg=ftbuT&pf_rd_p=5cfcfe89-300f-47d2-b1ad-a4e27203a02a&pf_rd_r=XR54CR0183K31NT79SMR&psc=1&refRID=XR54CR0183K31NT79SMR
