Our modest, but splendid enough meal where I gave my son orphan training in carving. Dave

Sorry about the slow response, @Kalifornian. I didn't see a notification. Well, like I said, Beale folk warned about the crime rate there. But I checked and it's 50% lower than where I live now and I feel perfectly safe here. So, I may well do just that. Yuba looks just fine on Earth View. Dave

Infinity made some truly exceptional speakers. But, fact is, if it's not Klipsch, it's krap. In the case of Infinity, not so much crap as over priced compared to Klipsch. Dave
-
Outstanding, and thanks. Looks like apartment there are about 50% higher than Yuba City...but the crime rate in Yuba may be the reason as it's pretty high. I hope to get something booked before I leave on January 2 for arrival on the 4th. Welcome any thoughts. Dave
-
As it's already safer than the best 10 drivers combined in the country, basically I'll just not interfere as, while my record is pretty pristine, I am not of its class. Dave
-
Well, boots on the ground on the 6th of January. Any Forum members in the Sacramento/Yuba City or close around there? Friendly face and Klipsch would be great. Only taking an SUV load out there so all I'll have is my AudioEngine self-powered speakers to start. Will get a Klipsch soundbar once there when I purchase a TV. Dave

How to record live baroque ensembe PWK-style? Advice requested
Mallette replied to MeloManiac's topic in Ask the Historian
I can spot synthetic reverb immediately. Never heard one that didn't ruin an acoustic recording. When I record every copy is a master in that it's precisely what the mikes heard, nothing more, nothing less. Most of my thoughts are here at https://malletteportolio.com/digital-audio-engineering/ Thoughts on surround recording, with format adopted direct from what PWK called his 8Card, attached. I record as PWK did...and I have his notes and original hand draw diagrams. Actually rather easy to explain but you need good ears. 1. Two mikes, coincidental, placed where your ears want to be. 2. Highest possible resolution. The mikes should be omni or figure eight pattern. Beyond that, PWK...and I...always ensure the recording is in the best acoustics possible. The surrounding space is a critical part of every recording. Dave -
New member: Looking at AK6 Klipschorns, any owners? ,
Mallette replied to audioquest4life's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Most of us find K'horns beautiful. WAF can be an issue. Fact is, for best possible sound on the planet there is NO substitute. If I thought they were ugly as sin I'd still have them. Maybe for music lovers if it sounds awesome, it looks awesome. Dave -
Checked into that first. Yuba City is the lowest COL I've seen in CA. Apartments not much more than TXK. And, absolutely, we'll get together. Dave
-
Thanks, Travis. Yes, pretty awesome...especially the work. However, I intend to keep my hat in the ring closer to home. Much to like about CA, but it might as well be overseas from here. Dave
-
Thanks, Jeff. I am excited, but will continue to look for something as lucrative closer to home. CA is very nice, but just too far away. Dave
-
You will always be welcome in my home, my friend. Still have many unfinished discussions. Dave
-
Secret only. No drug test required. Wouldn't matter as I've had none in years. Dave
-
Thanks all. I rather doubt anything will throw up a red flag in my background. It's only secret, and I had that in the Army. Dave
-
No question, Elden. Military drones are very cool indeed. Dave
-
Should be fun, Elden. I'll keep my hat in the ring for positions closer to home. Easier to get a job when you have one. Dave
-
I knew that...but just like you I couldn't resist. Dave

In my case, all pay and no work. 😂 Actually, they will get more from me than the average government employee...but I've been told my only function is to oversee contractors and see that they do their jobs. Not much work there... Dave
-
Well, to answer both your questions, you are welcome to come visit for as long as you like. Much to see and do nearby...and legal weed besides if your tastes run that way. As to the house, I will keep it for a while in case my son decides to go to school here, in which case he will rent it. Dave
-
Yes, it's very close. Dave

Well, looks like Dave is off to California for a few years. I'll be managing development of training materials and simulators for Global Hawk and other recon drones at Beale AFB. Decided to do this because I need the money to get my building here renovated both as a residence and as a Listening and Performance Center. Every reason to believe the note will be paid by renting out the hall for recitals and other music performances. Hate to leave home, but Feds are some of the few who actually practice what they preach about discrimination. Besides, I love my work and the Federal benefits are superb. Plus, as the Chinese say, the job is an "iron rice bowl." Don't have a start date yet as they are working on the background investigation, all 37(!) pages of it. Damn long way out there, but I hope to get a Tesla S3 while there to assure my ability to get around in the future, as well as being able to let it do the driving when I drive home. Dave

FOR SALE: hard-to-find electro-voice patrician 800 (and more)
Mallette replied to Rich Helvey's topic in Garage Sale
Knowing the Patrician for the classic it is, get those pix up and you are likely to find some interest here. Dave -
Someone gave me these. What are they worth?
Mallette replied to ptolve's topic in General Klipsch Info
You should be able to attach pix now. Dave -
I always put mine flush at 45 degrees to the listening area. No harm in trying it for a while and then moving them out a bit. My experience is that one rarely hears a distinct difference in small moves unless you give it weeks or months before making a move. Dave
