  1. Sorry I was talking about pl premium on the inside edge's of cabinet not the drivers and such. With drivers I use frost king foam tape, worked good for me in past and easy to remove speakers. Yes source may have been part of the problem ( FM radio). Still even with cd's harshness is still there just not as bad.
  2. Are you a member? Ad states only recieving emails from members, good luck.
  3. I am going to pull xover tomorrow, once out I may some more advice. I real don't want to replace all caps unless absolutely necessary.
  4. Drivers are in good shape, guess I may have to look into xovers after all. Thanks Dave, I think😁🤔
  5. Wish I had the fund's, very nice.
  6. Was reading thur epic thread and read where wvu80 had harshness in upper frequency and did poly fill and dampen horn with silicon and shrillness disappeared. I realize his speakers where cf4's and my are cf2's but it's cheap and easy to do so thought I'd try it. Figured since I am going remove the horn it won't be that much more work to put in a brace. Also plan on running a bead of pl premium on inside edges just to make sure cabinet is sealed. Room is not conditioned but I am presently building diffusers and sound panels. Cf2's are in front of my chorus II's that are angled out 45 degrees and tucked hard into corners. After mods the chorus II's sound amazing. I realize the CF'2s are not placed perfectly but they sound good except for shrillness, clean, clear decent bass but that shrillness I was listening to some classic rock on fm and they sounded so bad I thought speakers where bad. Switch station to a different type of music and they sounded much better. I am not ready to give up my chorus II speakers but I think the cf2's have potential, would love to hear some cf4's. Bought these because I heard so much good about epic, cf line never planned on keeping them, curious. Are there other mods I could do to improve overall sound without rebuilding xovers or replacing drivers? Thanks!
  7. Using a martanz 5004 preouts first tried Carver m t 01 and now running off a Wharfedale pro mp 1200. Only want to do cheap easy upgrades, in others experience is it worth bracing the cabinet? Really have no issues with bass.
  8. Been listening to my cf2" s for a week or so and find too them to shrill for my liking. Going to rope clauk and poly fill the cabinets. ( what is the best way to keep poly fill in place, spray glue? ) Are there any other cheap upgrades I can do to help? Don't want to spend much as I do planning on selling soon, just bought as I was curiousity. Thanks!
  9. Looked at stations today, yeap .10 to .20 increase. Most stations here post one price and don't even said it's cash price. A few do show both cash and cc/debit price but not many.
  10. Interesting, I will check here on Atlanta.
  11. I am going to experiment with fixing my speakers, mine are old and finish is not perfect anyway. I will post my results good or bad. Strange thing is even at close examination I can't tell what the exact problem is.
  12. Yea but should be worth it once done and you still have some nice speakers to listen to. Good luck with the dealer! EA
  13. My are used so I didn't expect them to be perfect. You should on the other hand should have some recourse with the speakers being new. My speakers are cherry veneered also I wonder if this is a common problem with just cherry or other veneers also?
  14. I just bought some cf2's that have the same problem, edges are loose also. Not sure how to fix without put on new veneer, going to try and iron it with a towel Sunday. Don't expect much but I guess its worth a try.
  15. This guy is a resaler in Atlanta, buys low sells high.
  16. Listen to them a little today, not perfectly set up just set in front of my chorus II. Tomorrow I hope to dampen the horn and. check for any cabinet leaks possible change/add poly fill. Will add my lil Mike's sub's to the mix tomorrow. Think I need to start a new thread.
  17. Ok thanks for the heads up. Google parts express coupons, might save you a couple bucks.
  18. If and only if madman does buy not your mic I would be interested in it, 2nd in line.
  19. Picked them up yesterday, they need some work put have potential. Going to work on them today and set them up with my lil Mike subs. (Yes I finally finished them) Tomorrow will be a rain day for me so I will play and review them and subs tomorrow.
  20. I have a parts Express mic I would sell. Tried to get it to work with rew but I could not get the file to download. There is a way to do it just couldn't figure it out. You buy mine, I buy Joe's and everybodies happy. PM me if interested.
  21. Ok thanks, I am going to do a little more research but I think I can make HD roxul work. I have a different idea for frames pine/lumber is getting expensive. Might be interesting to see the link you used to build your diffusers. I don't think most people realize what's involved.
  22. If you haven't bought your BB plywood I would look for another sourse. HD BB plywood or there MDF is not very good quality. I recently bought BB from rockler wood supply for a good price, they are a national chain. Do a search for BB plywood for sale in your area. Read up on MDF there are different grades, if HD MDF gets near water it absorbs it like a sponge. Then it gets black mold spots, not good. If you do use HD MDF seal it to help keep water out.
  23. Sorry to get off topic but what did you use for acoustic material in your sound panels. What size are they, I am looking at roxul from HD - 12 pieces 3,"by 151/4" by 47". Is 3" thick enough?
  24. Atlanta Georgia, doraville.
  25. Going to email him tomorrow setup a demo and pickup time for Saturday. Should have them going sunday.
