Website problem - font way too small
Kudret replied to tigerwoodKhorns's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
My suggestion is for everyone to simply use bigger font size. Kudret -
Looking to buy Type A crossovers with Jensen, Hovland, etc.
Kudret replied to Kudret's topic in Technical/Restorations
Dean, I disconnected the 2.5 mH inductor and connected the (+) of the woofer directly, but nothing comes out of woofer. Am I doing it wrong, or is it because of the low power amp I am using? Kudret EDIT: Dean, disregard. It was a bad jumper wire (what are the chances of that). Without the inductor, I found the sound to be a bit muffled. I put in the 12 ga Solen solid core 2.4 mH inductor now (instead of the 2.5 mH stock Klipsch inductor) and I am happy with the what I am hearing. -
Don, FedEx ground is not any better either. I just paid $55 in taxes+brokerage fees for an item valued at $100. Any seller who insists on UPS of FedEx will lose my business. I've had very good experience with USPS and I will only use USPS from now on. Kudret

Looking to buy Type A crossovers with Jensen, Hovland, etc.
Kudret replied to Kudret's topic in Technical/Restorations
Preston, I have read some time ago that using 12 ga solid core inductors improve the bass response and I also believe that better caps make a difference. The problem for me is not building them but ordering the components from here and there. Dean, You are exactly right. Most of my listening is below 70dB and I am hoping to get the best out of Type A networks. I am very interested in trying them without the low pass filter. Thank you for the suggestion. Kudret -
I am looking for a pair of Type A crossovers for my '75 Khorns. I prefer the networks with new components and Jensen, Hovland, Theta, etc. capacitors I built a pair of DHA2xovers and used them for the past several months. Then I modfied my original Type AA's into A's and I really liked the balance and detail I am hearing with Type A's. I also have a spare Type E that I can convert into Type A with with new caps, but instead of messing with old networks I wanted to see if I can get a Type A with all new components. I've also contemplated converting DHX2s into ALK Jr.s and probably I will do that along the way, but I decided to settle with Type As for a while. If you have a pair of Type A for sale that fit the description please let me know. Kudret

Setting for DeanG Crossovers? Cornwalls sound better than Khorns
Kudret replied to meagain's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
meagain, white solens are film and foil caps and Dean once told me that they are at least as good as hovlands, so you are ok. Dean, That is my ultimate goal - to get the best sound at low volume levels, as most of my listening is below 70dB. I've had DHA2Xovers for several months and I was impressed with their clarity and control. I swapped in stock Type As a few nights ago and I really liked the more balanced sound I am geeting from stock As. I've always wondered how ALK Jrs will sound and I wanted to convert my DHA2xovers to ALK Jrs. Are you using ALK Jrs now? Sorry I didn't get if you were using the two netwrks above together, and what are the second networks 450/6000 for? Kudret -
Here is my Thorens TD-124 MKII with SME 3009-S2. The only change from the picture is, I am currently using Shure V15-VxMR. Kudret

That's easy[]. Thanks again, Dean. Kudret

Thanks, Dean. I have a feeling that that involves more than the 3.3 uF cap right? Kudret

John, DeanG, What kind of modifications I should be doing to attenuate JBL 2404H to be used with DHA2xovers? Here is the version I am using: Kudret

Thanks for the offer, Shawn. I kind of told the guy, thanks but no thanks. Let me see if I can swallow my pride and deal with him again. Kudret
-
Thanks for the heads-up, Coytee. I got one from Shawn and looking for another one. I contacted the seller and he replied "I would ONLY ship UPS insured for the sale price!!! ", which was the deal-breaker for me. I'll keep checking eBay, but meanwhile if there is anyone willing to sell a single 2404H please let me know. Kudret
-
Hi Rob, I bought one 2404H and looking for another. We'll arrange a get together once they are on the Khorns. Kudret
-
Peter, Are you going for trachorns and BEC tweeters? I am thinking about JBL 2404H and Altec 511B. Kudret
-
Coytee, What a timely post. I am getting ready to replace the tweeters on my Khorns and I was wondering the same thing. I will probably get the trachorns eventually and since the top section will have to change I can go with any of them. I don't really play my Khorns at high volumes. I am using low powered SET/PP amplification and DHA2xovers, if that matters... Kudret

Rega Apollo CD player coming to my system soon.....
Kudret replied to jazman's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
...looking forward to your review. I am looking for a CDP myself. I am currently considering Cary CD players, but Apollo is also a possibility. Kudret -
seti, That's the one. That picture was posted in a recent thred (serch function sucks big time - I couldn't find it) except that one was in color. Klipsch should have a copy of the file, no? Kudret

Anyone in AL - need a favor with an eBay purchase.
Kudret replied to Kudret's topic in General Klipsch Info
Finally, eBay removed the listing. I got an email saying that it was an hijacked account. Kudret -
Kev, I got encouraged by the recommendation of my Klipsch buddies above and reported the seller to eBay. I got the following canned BS reply from eBay which makes me think that I wasted my time. Kudret
-
Oh, I forgot one thing, he asked me to send the payPal payment to yet another email address (different from the one he had on eBay). toddvj: I thought about that, but these are all red flags (and no concrete evidence), and from what I read on this forum, eBay doesn't really care. Kudret

I won the auction for a pair of mint McIntosh MC30s from a zero feedback seller. The seller had agreed to allow local pickup. Danny from our klipschforum kindly agreed to pick them up for me, and that was the reason I bid on them. Then strange things started to happen. First, he was resisting to give his address. I requested his address from eBay but his address did not have any street name and number. Then he sent me his cellphone number which was registered in DC, and eventually sent an address which was 1.5 hours away from the one listed in eBay. There were too many red flags so I told him that the only way I would buy them was for him to deliver them to Danny, or he could re-list them. I see that he relisted them again on eBay and I intend to inform the next highest bidder. I've not been scammed before but this was the closest I came to. Buyers beware. Kudret

Kudret replied to Kudret's topic in General Klipsch Info
I final update on the situation. It am amost sure that this was a scam. The seller's address on ebay shows that he is in Vestavi Hills, AL. After several requests, he finally sent me an address for pickup in Montgomery, AL (1.5 hours drive away) and a cellphone number registered in DC. He claims that he just moved there and does not have a telephone at home. This being a zero feedback seller, I asked him to deliver them to Birmingham AL (to Danny) or otherwise relist them. And guess what, they are currently relisted on ebay. I would like to thank nuclearay and mikey j for offering to help and especially to Danny who has been a tremendous help until the last minute. Rick, That was exactly the same picture I had in mind for a poster. I would love to have that behind my Khorns. Imagine how cool it would look in low light while listening to music at night. Here it is again slightly from a different angle: http://forums.klipsch.com/photos/the_klipsch_gallery/images/666583/original.aspx Kudret
