  1. Congratulations on Your purchase! Now let´s see how long until You´ll buy some Heritage speakers to match that Fisher! You read lot´s of praise here on the combination of Fishers and Heresys, for example. Don´t want to lessen the RF610fs in any way, but that´s the way it goes, more often than not, on this Forum.

    Enjoy!

  2. Well, the build-in DAC get improved every year. I guess, once i get a Blue Ray, i´ll play my CDs on it as well. Will be interesting to compare the Panasonic UB-824 to my Marantz DV7001.

    Is the movie any good?

That depends, if You´re into SciFi, it is. It´s one of the best movies in that genre in the last decade, IMHO. Great cast, great story and great music.

That would suck, to buy it only to discover songs were missing from it.   Which one did you get?

    Exactly, would suck big time.

    I got this one:

    https://www.amazon.de/Interstellar-Expanded-Version-Hans-Zimmer/dp/B08KGT79SD/ref=pd_sbs_15_1/258-7431884-3909210?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B08KGT79SD&pd_rd_r=468f6183-8e9c-4435-8bf7-99a1c9d60013&pd_rd_w=GtPmx&pd_rd_wg=xXPN9&pf_rd_p=17269923-e95e-42b2-b8e1-f208b58f5815&pf_rd_r=EG9Q94A1V2G0DTW184VR&psc=1&refRID=EG9Q94A1V2G0DTW184VR

At least on the picture of the back-cover, the listing seems to be correct.

  6. Great OST, too bad its so hard to get the complete soundtrack an CD... At least here in Europe. There was a special edition, you can only get it used now, at stagering prices...

They had some great stuff before Pyromania came out... Have your heard High & Dry?

My favorite of theirs that I no longer have:(

Listened to it, on loan from a friend, great sound! I like "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" and "Switch 625". Also a CD i want to add to my collection.

Their best was in the 70s that run ended with their white album but the two after it were good also.

Still so much stuff to listen and maybe buy eventually... I will have to think about those shelves i want to make in my living room. Just listening to some Def Leppard.

@JohnJ  ...at the moment my psychic condition doesn´t  tolerate hard rock or metal. In addition, the medication as described side effect cause constant headaches. On the other hand I still have to swallow Novalgin daily. Listening to music works fine, but only if I don´t hear loud.Hard rock and metal must be heard very loud to make it bang.

From what i saw in Your posts up til now, i wouldn´t have thought You were the Metal type. 😉 What do You have in your collection? I´m interested.

One of the things I picked up from this 'bull$h*t' thread is the general acceptance of the importance and value of 'the ritual'.

Though many music lovers 'know' that a good quality digital file of a good recording will be superior compared to analog, esp vinyl records (with its cracks and hisses), yet they prefer these lower quality media because they allow the ritual:

    • solid state amp vs tube amp: tube amps allow tuberolling (and for the more advanced, tube amp design)
    • digital format vs vinyl records: vinyl records allow tinkering with needles and cartridges etc, and the fysical manipulation of handling the vinyl record, and let's not forget the artful record sleeve.
    • neutral studio monito/earphones vs home speakers (and modfications/upgrades): each home setup will sound different
    • copper wiring vs high-end audio cables, powerblocks etc: especially 'elektrically clean' systems, with high sensitive speakers, specialised audio cables become part of the ritual experience too. Some have great aesthetic value too!

I believe it basically boils down to  having two approaches of life in general: type 1 is the 'set and forget' person, type 2 is ritual person. I'm refusing to decide who's having most fun.

I for one found @ClaudeJ1 link a good read, but i guess it just boils down to what You say in your post. It´s the "Ritual" in one form or another that lets us all participate in this hobby and this great forum. Most likely i couldn´t even decide if i am type 1 or type 2, IMHO it´s two hearts beating in most of our chests.

  12. As there are several Gentlemen here who have worked in the aircraft-industry, what is Your opinion. The next generation fighters will be predominantly UAVs, or do you think there will always be pilots on board? There are a lot of discussions going on, as far as i know.

Since childhood, military flying has always interested me. I spend ten years with the German Airforce, albeit in air defense only, my system was the venerable HAWK.

Great idea, will buy this for my Marantz as well, thanks for posting this! 129€ is really not much. What do You think about the noise-level?
